Just had an idea… considering that you ppls in chambana got a legit place to play video games, and there seems to be more ppl coming in. You guys should start up some sort of competitive thing going again. Like i loved the atmosphere of the place during the ranbats, but after a while, the amount of waiting, having to pay entry fee(which i did not really mind), and me choking so much made me want to do more casuals instead(although i miss the ranbats now lol).

so i be thinking something simpler. why don’t you guys do something like the topanga thing with one goal in mind: to have the best win/loss ratio by the end of a “season.” There may be no tangible prize(or a real prize lol), but you get true braggin rights lolol.

I’m thinking off the top of my head, but w/e~~~

it would just be 1 game per person per gathering, and the play format being ft3 or ft5…whatever floats the boat.

so assuming 7 ppl decide to want to take part, examples being: james, dan, brock, dennis, patric, marcus, mike.

On one gathering the matches would be:
james vs dan; brock vs dennis; patric vs marcus; and mike just not taking part on that particular day.
And then just record the wins and loses per person, and the matches.

Then the next gathering would be:
james vs dennis; brock vs marcus; patric vs mike; and this time dan not taking part (just rotated the names). and record shit again.

Either way once every person has played every other person taking part in the “stat making games,” it would be end of a “season” and there would be a pretty good hiearchy of gdlkness lololol. And at end of season, you guys can set up some sort of salty runbacks to try and up your final stats.

The cool thing about this is even if a person does not come, his stat would not change, and that person just has one less match to add to his end stat, and this would seem pretty easy to keep track of if one just has a laptop and knows how to use excel or something and just record wins and losses, and who vsed who…or go archaic and use a clean notebook lol.

Either way if you guys did something like this, there would be something especially competitive/hype to look forward to each gathering, but still a lot of time to just play. Like just isolate 1-2 setups at a certain time and leave rest for casuals. As for me, i wouldn’t miss watching the matches…

and if you think finishing a season like this would feel too sluggish if EVERYONE wanted in. Be selective and hold a double elim tourney like the ranbats and make it so only top 6-8 can take part. And if someone ends up not making the top 6-8, he can challenge any last 2-3 spots to take the place and the person that technically made it can choose the format of challenge(2/3, ft3, ft5). I would be assuming everyone pretty much knows each other, so there wouldnt be any challenges that will have obvious outcomes.

like if 6 ppl take part and if all six ppl play per gathering, a full season would only take about a month and half or 2 months.

sorry for long post, but the idea seemed too fun to not let you guys at least think about it~~~

holy crap i just realized that i could have just said a round robin tournament over a set amount of gatherings and it would have made the exact same amount of sense…but i took the time to write all this shit, so READ…

Why you gotta put me against big marcus first :<

Anyways, id be down for anything competitive!

I actually really like that idea Pills. Good shit homie… So who is down to set this up?? Im totally down to participate.

You should repost that on the facebook group, Pills.

Also, got a new team WITH SWAG COMBOS. Wolvie/Frank/Deadpool. TOO SICK.

So now I play the team in my av, Hawkeye/Pool/Strider, and the team above. I can’t wait for games on Friday!!

O.o good idea. I’ll post a clean version on Facebook after wirk

sounds like fun. id play and go 0 fer and have fun anyways

patric did you put in the space request?

YO this is SICK. I’d totally do the topanga set up. Heck, this semester I’m undefeated so far, and gonna be taking out Brock this Friday so I can brag more. It’d be great if we can get an actual record going so by the end of the season we know who the lowest peon is HAHAHHAhA! GET HYYYYPE. And also, if we do a FT 3/5 everytime we play even in “casuals” and keep record it no longer is a casual, and people participating will take it a lot more seriously. Cant wait.

The deed has been done. Conformation will be given by tomorrow, but i am like 99% sure it will be alright. Will update when its official official.

So jewish.

We’ll just go regardless

kof at mlg? i like it

Aww…

I guess that means all those wins I racked up against you last Friday don’t count then. Sad Flexo is sad…

And to think I even took a break from KoF to play IV with you guys. lol

Hi guys. We games on Friday are a go. Same time same place. Everyone come. DKH 317 @ 7PM

can anyone here dual mod sticks?

of course it counts mike~ i meant in overall. besides I was playing yun most of the time so. more reason to play IV dont u think?

Cute

Also SFxT looks really fun

Hehe, just joshin’ ya. :wgrin:

It was fun. I’ll definitely play it more with you guys. On one condition: you have to give KoF a try, Dan. I think you’d really like it!

On a side-note, holy CRAP, the KoF trials getting hard… I just got the achievement for finishing 200, and I feel like I’m running on fumes. lol Raiden’s 9th in particular has had me stumped for days now. I have a really tough time charging the drop kicks then quickly Drive Canceling into the tackles, let alone two loops in a row. I had to use the “Street Fighter” HK so that I could contort my hands to even stand a chance at landing it!

Here are some tips that I’ve picked up, however, to make things easier for anyone that’s working on them:

1. In many cases, it helps to :hcb:forward to do DP instead of :dp:. A perfect example is Kula’s 9th trial in which you must cancel her HP DP into EX DP on the first hit. This is tough to do without getting DP -> super. Using the “cheater” input prevents the accidental cancel into super.
2. There’s no shame in adding moves to a trial in order to make the trial easier. Again, I’ll use Kula as an example. In her 4th trial you have to cancel the first hit of her HP DP into :hcb:(x2) super. This is VERY difficult for obvious reasons. She leaves the ground immediately after the first hit, so you have no time to buffer. What you CAN do, however, is Drive Cancel the DP into her pirouette -> LK follow up, then do the super. Just make sure they end up near the corner after the LK follow up.
3. In many combos you’re required to run up after a launch in order to make the follow up juggle reach. You can often side-step the run by simply making sure they end up near the corner. The game does not judge you based on precision with which you hit the combo as long as you include all of the moves listed.
4. Grapplers in KoF can be pretty tricky sometimes, especially when you’re required to cancel (for instance) the first hit of a standing normal into a super command grab – usually :hcb:/:hcf:(x2). If you rush the input you’ll often get a crouching attack into nothing…or just nothing. lol You can make life sooooooooo much easier by taking advantage of characters’ moves, or rather lack thereof. For example, Clark has no specials that use :hcb:+P. Therefor you can simply do :hcb:+HP(1 hit), :hcb:+P to combo into super Back Breaker. This can be applied to any character in the cast in which a command grab is tricky.

Anyway, sorry for the long-winded explanation. Hope this helps anyone that was struggling. Good luck, and see you guys tomorrow night!!

kula dp super -> hcbF+p, hcb+p

GGAC with netcode! Awesome! Will be fun to relearn the game a lil bit.
