How do you figure?
MK9 day one was more accesable then these “Polished” Anime fighters for both hardcore and casual.
The easier counter to your argument is twofold.
First being King of Fighters 12 it had it all when it comes to built in audience and fanbase as well as a hype train and it failed massively.
Second if Mortal Kombat was working on a resurrection from what had become a garbage throw away franchise and as such had alot more riding against it then a brand new IP it was not until it was proven to have an engine that could stand on it’s own that the nostalgia factor helped more then hindered.
KOF12 didn’t have any hype. SNK are niche of a niche.
MK publishers paid to get it into EVO before the game was even out- It didn’t need to prove anything. All while other games had to work and work hard for a spot. How many games got the treatment MK got? Only Capcom games so far.
BTW competitive MK is not accessible at all, since it’s so different from any other game in the genre.
UFC > WWE All Stars as a competitive game? Hmph!
it IS a fighting game though. 2 people enter and beat the ever loving shit out of each other till one of them falls down and stays down. so what exactly do you mean by that?
They already have made a fighting game. WWE is a great fit for a fighting game franchise, nostalgia, dudes with huge muscles, commentary, the game has combos, strike cancelling, juggling, parry, block, combo strings, and all that. It’s basically a 3-D fighting game, but way more refined than DOA.
OH yes, I’m still playing WWE:AS.
Hulk hogan FTW and burial
As far as how WWE:AS is more acceptable in terms of, It’s already on track as an arcadey fighting game, it has the WWE roster, it is based on fake 'rasslin with cool moves, it is meter based, and well it is fun as fuck and balanced.
Could you imagine WWE at Evo? They’d probably send Sgt. Slaughter and Kofi Kingston to help hype the game, and all that.
Their problem with UFC Undisputed 2010 was the lack of Flash Ko’s, the ground game, and the game not truly embodying a fluid MMA match.
They need to make the game as close to the real thing as possible. L’n’P and Wall in Stall FTW
If they’re trying to make UFC3 tourney worthy than random elements like Flash KO’s and stalling tactics like LnP and WnS would be horrible! Its like tripping and ledge-stalling in Smash!
I felt like UFC2009 was pretty good but the combo system needed more flexibility. The only true combo was LP, RP, LP. And the submission system needed to be less cheesy, it basically revolved around button mashing so people with rapid-fire controllers could cheat the system and get instant submissions.
UFC2010 was really disappointing because instead of fixing the combo system they removed it! And the sub system was still cheesy mashing!
However I’m kind of optimistic about Undisputed 3. It looks like they’ve redesigned the combo system and they’ve implemented a new skill-based mini-game for submissions. And the Pride rules look freaking awesome!
The new combo system and sub system are shown here: http://www.ign.com/videos/2011/11/03/ufc-undisputed-3-developer-commentary
WWE:AS is the motherfucking truth. If you’re hating its because you haven’t played it
TBH WCW/nWo revenge makes more sense that ufc lol. I said earlier that the game should be at evo if only because it’ll be easy cash for me. That won’t happen though if other renowned fighting game players enter because of the same mindset cause the game is easy as hell to play and probably takes less skill than smash.
Now I honestly don’t think the game should be there at all and if smash doesn’t make it and it has a bigger player base UFC sure as hell shouldn’t make it.
You know, I’m going to need a new hipster fighting game phrase. “I play UFC Undisputed 3, but you’ve probably never heard of it” seems like it won’t work anymore.
Maybe “I play Death Cargo, but you’ve probably never heard of it”?
That said, I wouldn’t watch a stream for this game, it’s boring as hell.
Personally to be fair to the MK community, it’s not like they didn’t tried to make their own community. Anybody who followed MK3 trilogy stories probably know Shock promoted that game, tried his darnest to make a community scene. MK9 getting Evo was a random struck of luck from the community.
The same can’t really be said with a random UFC game that nobody has ever heard before with no history of making a scene what so ever. If they gave EVO enough money, they might allow it…but it’s not getting the same love that MK did from it’s community.
So EVO has passed and it was actually there in the ballroom.

I swear, that was the most crowded I saw it all weekend, lolol.
The real thing to gain from this is how mainstream Evo and fighting games are.
Anway if these guys want to make a fighter, good on them. It’s actually quite possible they could create a brilliant and unique fighting game using elements from UFC games but making a fighter. I’m glad they got a big sign and a console at Evo or whatever.
That’s depressing, but it also had to compete with UMvC3, TTT2 and SFxT so…yeah, no way in hell that thing wasn’t going to be dead in the water.
Why was this thread brought back from the dead?
fight night for EVO
