Yeah, you read that right. The folks behind UFC Undisputed 3 are apparently working on the ways to make the game something that can be sanctioned at fighting game tournaments like Evo (specifically mentioned).
They’re apparently doing a couple of things here and there to bring the game closer to traditional fighters.
-Fixing the camera to something closer to a traditional fighter.
-Creating a Competition Mode which balances out the fighters stats.
-Cancelling strikes(?)
They’ve even apparently brought in some tournament players to help out (though they don’t mention who).
The question now is, does a “simulation” like Undisputed 3 actually have a chance of being a serious tournament game, let alone one that’s played at EVO?
Sure. I always thought simulation games deserved tournaments anyway (Well, Fight Night could. UFC isn’t or wasn’t particularly that great. Atleast when I played it in 09.).
if UFC does
-a 20 000$ UFC Undisputed national tourney like PDP did for MK9
-gives sponsorship money to evo
-Undisputed gets a strong player base meaning 50+ people at evo seeding tourneys which mk9 can pull off
Damn, whats next, Sakurai saying he wants WiiU at Evo with Smash 4?
FG’s are actually coming back to mainstream. I know a hellaofalot of people that are downwright sick of Shooters.
Now apparently everyone wants a slice of the Evo pie, for free publicity among tourney players…
Would there be a problem if the shit was dope? Sakurai actually recognizing that aspect of the game would be a miracle in itself. If the niggas are going in with the intentions of a tourney quality game then its not that bad of a situation imo. Devs are begging for their game to be at evo now. That’s wild.
I aint trusting him believe me. Dude lost me in '08. I was speaking on whoever is making Undisputed. I’m happy that he’s actually going to let his team (who doesn’t hate what happened) have input in the system and not force them to sneak shit through.
That ain’t the point bro, it’s a hypothetical that assumes Sakurai already delivers a quality game. If that WAS by some miracle the case, then I think Smash would definitely deserve a shot. They’d have the playerbase certainly.
