UFC 2009: Undisputed Thread

DUDE that would be so fucking awesome. dan severn is my all time favorite. he just dominates

i heard that, severn is the REAL beast, daigo aint shit
im making my created guy severn + hughes
just going judo/wrestling
no striking allowed, hah
threw judo in there for submissions though and hopefully crazy throws

anyone who has this game, can you create a caf (create a fighter) initially with unlimited stat points to just fuck around with in exhibition? or do you have to work every caf through career mode to get his stats up?

edit: just saw your location. no love for tito? hah

yeah the game is crazy good. played it almost all night just trying out a ton of fighters. in CAF you get a limited amount of stat points to play with, I haven’t found anything that would provide unlimited in exhibition. I’m bout to jump into CAF and career for the next day or so as long as I can keep awake.

You NEED a striking style. And by the word NEED I mean HAVE too. I’m not sure exactly how the CAF thing works though. I made one in the “CAF” mode but then it prompted me to re-distribute stats when I entered career mode. You get ALOT less points in Career Mode obviously and Im not sure if you can take him to Xbox Live to fight online until you retire the fighter.

well me and my buddies just want to create some dudes and have our own season
and if i have to have striking, that makes it more interesting haha
they have boxing, kickboxing and what else?

What is the best way to escape if somebody gets you in a mount?

Online I have been doing really good in most my matches, but once somebody gets me in a mount I’m done for. Especially the Rampage users who do nothing but aim for it.

Been playing Create A Fighter for most of the day. I can’t imagine creating a fighter and maintaining a perfect record unless you’re playing on beginner or something. I went 4 fights in a row in the lightweight division on advanced difficulty till I was forced to be matched up against somebody way over my fighter’s stats, especially in ground skills. Did my best but got knocked out in the 3rd round.

Couple gripes I have about this mode. I hate how you have to go through 4-5 menus to just add a sponsor to your trunks. Sparring time is way too short (2 minutes), should at least be 5. Lastly, when you invite a fighter to your gym and work on your ground skills, the tasks they give you are sometimes impossible. For example, say you have to counter a kick or punch, hard to do when the CPU barely throws any of these. Or having to do something from a sprawl, it depends on the CPU going for a takedown and you not completely stuffing it.

Other than that, the game has pretty much lived up to my expectations. Solid effort by THQ. Haven’t tried online yet.

And the fact that you can’t stuff a takedown when using a CAF. The CPU is too good at submissions, it’s massive bullshit.

This game is crazy fun but the caf mode is dog shit.

Most of the UFC fighters suck and I was looking forward to making some Pride and Dream guys but unfortunately it looks like that’s not possible with how shallow the caf mode is.

With a decent caf mode this game would have been a 10.

A good bit of you guys are making bullshit posts and you haven’t even got deep into the system yet. The people complaining about the ground and submission, you really need to practice at it, mash fest my ass. Play me online and see how well mashing gets you. You’ll get KTFO. Only time where you have to “mash” is when I’m going to sub you. Depending on the fighter you have, it’s best to either mash the buttons or rotate the sticks. Mashing buttons when I have full or even half mount is going to get you knocked out, stop making complaints about a game that hasn’t even been out for a full week.

Anyway, I’m liking the Judo guys, I’m gonna see if I can create Fedor. Online is gonna get really similar to SFIV in about a week or so. At LHW it’s gonna be Silva, Jackson, and Chuck. Alllllll day. It’ll be like the neverending sea of Kens again.

GSP and Anderson Silva = Ryu and Ken for online play. Disconnects have also became a major issue and i hope THQ address it somewhere down the line… this shit is pissin’ me off

I hear you! I just got done playing online on PS3, amassing an online record of 13-17 in ranked matches tonight. I was dominating some guy’s Brock with Gonzaga, end of round 1 he disconnects. I made a stupid mistake as Sean Sherk against a Nate Diaz who I completely dominated by GnP for 3 rounds before making an execution error on the feet and got KO’ed. Anyway the guy kept running and throwing right hooks, I ate a few but, ended up reading them every time and took him down. The guy didn’t learn :nono:

Muay Thai clinch is too much. I love it.

Full mount GnP = omg get him off me right now. lol.

This game is fun.

Got this last night, was playing at a friend’s house all day after work. What a great game, for real. Made myself, and it actually ended up looking like me haha. I still suck at this but I’ll get up there. Oh, and if you read this, DAMN YOU FANTASTICOOOOO!!!

love the game… one of the best i have played. Hell that is not saying much because they last attempts was not good. But very solid game for the new gen. CAF is in dept. but I would say that the sparring could have been a little longer 1R 5 mins and also the edit trunk things I do agree that it does took like for ever. Played game last Wanderlei versus Lyoto Machida. Won with a rear choke in :13 online. Damn

I agree, the computer is pretty crazy on the ground but if my CAF had the skills, I’d be blocking transitions and mounting them myself in no time. Mashing gets you KO’d. Think of how swinging blindly and crazy is unwise in real life. Wanderlei, while I love him, has some of the craziest swinging punches I’ve ever seen and look what happened when he fought Chuck, counter punch = KO. Heck, Rampage isn’t even the most technical fighter but he caught Wanderlei.

I also was interested in the Judo guys at first, since they were underrepresented, I thought it would be interesting to go that route. Didn’t bode well for me since I went for tosses and kept getting countered. It’s an interesting style though, but I lean towards the others since they have better ground techniques in my opinion.

For LHW, I actually like Forrest. I’m sick of Chuck, after the demo I don’t think I’ll ever pick him or Shogun, played them way too much hah. Forrest has an all around game that I think is great, and if you counter a kick, he catches it and punches the guy on the way down, gotta love it.

Someone break this game already I wanna have a laugh!

I wanna see videos of high(or at least at high as it is so far) level play. Some of you guys get a fight going online and record it. :wgrin:

i read it has a steep learning curver and it plays beautifully. the commercial doesn’t look too smooth. has anyone found this game to have a high replay value?

This game is great. When playing with a person who knows what they are doing, it just makes it that much better. I love it.

One question I have is with regards to the ground game. I know if you hold back on the right analog, it prevents them from transitioning. But I swear there are a few times when I am holding back and they just bust through that anyway. I got no problem with this but am just wondering how the ground game really works. How much is based off of the fighter’s stats compared to actual execution of the move (holding back for example).
