I think it also has to do with your stamina, make sure you turn on the option to show it because the higher your stamina the more chance you have of a transition (and I assume defending transitions) of being successful.
This game has a lot of replay value with how fun the combat is, it never get’s old.
It would have had near infinite replay value if the CAF mode was deep. As it stands I eventually get tired of playing the same 1-2 fighters I only like in each weight class.
Jokingly, I told a co-worker at Gamestop I was going to make him champ in career mode. I tried making him, but the guy turned out to look more gootecks!
You can block a transition or reverse one. block by just holding right/left on the right stick and reverse by hitting right or left at the right moment. Minor transition (QCF/QCB on the right stick) are easy to block, but hard to time for a reversal. Major transitions (HCF/HCB on the right stick) are easier to time for a reversal but will more than likely blow through your block.
Also stats and stamina play a huge role in it too. Someone with a low ground grapple defense score vs someone with a high ground grapple offense will have a hard time blocking and reversing anytype of transition. And low Stamina affects everything thing you do, so gassing yourself out will just about make any offense or defensive action likely to fail.
Heres somewhat of a no brainer. Online, if you’re fighting people who constantly try to take you down. Backstep, and jab, don’t do a one two combo. Just throw two jabs. And when they try to take you down, hold R1 and hit one on the kick buttons(depends on where his head is at) and you will get a KO 60 percent of the time. R1 and kick when an opponent is trying to take you down, stuff that attempt and will hurt them or KO them.
Also, throw leg kicks in the first round if you’re playing a char with not that much KO power. You’ll see the results later in the fight. Just don’t throw them up close. punches win clean over leg kicks. Your best bet if they like to punch is to back step and throw a headkick. Most of the time you’ll catch them and put them in a rocked state or you’ll flat out KO them. Also, remember, you can cancel/fake a move by holding block just as the animation starts. It’s funny watching them try to parry my right, just to get kicked in the head.
Most people online only block high, so you can hit them with body kicks/punches and leg kicks over and over. This will do alot of damage to their stamina, and make them much easier to KO/Sub. Also blocking doesn’t stop all the damage, There is a Striking defense rating that factors into how much damage you reduce, so it’s possible to wear them down with body and leg attacks and KO them through their block.
I’m actually really liking the career mode - and thought that the CAF was alot deeper than expected. after a few days with the game I don’t know how I could deal with not having it - no complaints here…
Should’ve expected this but playing online isn’t all that great, unless it’s player match of course. Disconnects galore. If you go for a submission and it’s clear that you’re going to win, it gives the other person plenty of time to disconnect.
Man this game is awesome…I mean the career mode is the best…you can spar with the cpu to gain points to boost up your CAF. But online ranked matches its had to find an opponent. So I would have to host it which sucks -_-…but anyway back to the awesomeness of the game haha. Looks like ill have to host most of my matches
I created a LHW Muay Thai/Judo. Man, I wish it were possible to go straight into Over/Under Clinch from standing because I want to Judo Flip ppl on the regular. But it looks like it can only happen on defense.
Judo Camp invites are hard. Half of the problem for me is that I don’t know all of the ground positions by name. The other reason is that when I’m trying to do a task, my sparring partner always stalls and runs down the clock by either smothering me or not standing up even when I back away to the other side of the ring.
yea that is true i have the same problem that task are hard as hell but that makes it good. not to easy. but damn the learning curve. I have Judo as well seems like everyone is going judo since there is only 2 fighters in the game with the style.
Good thing is that even if you finish all 7 tasks each time you do a camp invite, it still takes 3 invites to finish a level. Points don’t transfer over on levels as well. So don’t fret if you don’t finish all of the tasks, as long as you finish each level in 3 invites, you’re still on track.
I also find it odd how sometimes the sparring partner is crazy aggressive and is either relentless with his strikes, or mounts you and won’t let you get up.
Dream needs to make a game, that would be awesome. Open weight matches haha. Jose Conseco! Bob Sapp!
Ok, I am having some serious trouble with the ground game. I’m not hitting the transitions at all, and I can’t ever seem to get out if I’m on the bottom of an open guard. (My two losses have come because I can’t get out.) I can’t seem to get the rotations right. My guys a kickboxer/wrestler.
