Anybody get a chance to nab the Ultimate Edition yet? Any comments about them? How much were sketches? Did Jo Chen do sketches? How were the lines? Did anyone get any sketches on or in the Ultimate Edition?
My friend is going tomorrow and I still need to let her know if I want the Ultimate Edition or not. Trying to make my decision.
I picked up the ultimate edition and it’s nothing but goodness. It’s so worth the $80, especially if you get it signed. Sketches were $20 and they draw a character of your choice on the first page of the Udon Summer Sketchbook. I’m not sure if Jo Chen was doing sketches, but I know for sure that Alvin Lee and Joe Ng were.
Can someone PLEASE answer me lol, is anyone who worked on mvc2, even the art, going to be there? i have rare mvc 2 poster that i want signed before i frame it.
My friend didn’t get me the Ultimate Edition, but she got me a Jo Chen Ryu drawing since Jo Chen wasn’t doing sketches! She also got me the Summer Sketchbook with an Alvin Lee Akuma sketch in it. 
Chaos, is there anywhere in the Ultimate Edition that can be full-page sketched on? My friend wasn’t sure. I would love to get an Alvin Lee sketch in that thing.
I just heard Alvin Lee did a commissioned sketch tonight for $100 during the convention (Saturday)!! Can anyone confirm this?
He did that at the New York comic con, that’s only if you wanted a big 10x15 sketch. The ones in the sketch books didn’t cost as much.
wow, that’s awesome, but $100?! Anyone got a pic of either the NYCC or SDCC $100 sketch? My friend told me it only took him about 20 minutes to do.
I think (Not sure if it cost 100 but it was big) someone put up their hundred dollar drawing from the NY Comic con before up here at SRK by Alvin Lee, it was of Cody from Final Fight Streetwise.
The one Alvin Lee drew at SDCC yesterday was supposedly $100.
Just a heads up for Udon:
$20 for a sketch was too much, double in price from previous years. I personally didn’t get a sketch/sketchbook solely because of its price, though this might only have been my opinion.
Thanks for having all the TPBs there at $10 each, was able to get my Darkstalkers TPB I didn’t have a chance to get. Sakura Door poster was nice, as was the morrigan/lillith picture. Nice to see you guys teaming up with capcom too. Sad to see no raffle this year : (
Sorry I couldn’t asnwer your question in time, Kentdog, I’ve been hella busy. But there are blank red pages inside the covers, I’m guessing they’re mainly for signatures though.
All the full color sketchbooks there were 20 bucks.
And it was 5$ more than last years, not double.
I got a sketch from Christine Choi that I’ll post later, you just have to “outsmart” them and bring your own paper for them to draw on.
They were doing full figures on 11x17 board. That, to me, is more than worth the 20 bucks.

It’s great how people post up their sketches from the Cons for the poor saps like me who live too far away to make it.
Cheers for the link on the Akuma hardcover. I’d also like to see a high res version of the Ryu softcover. It would make a great desktop wallpaper (Ryu pushed over to the right hand side maybe) Maybe a cool download from the Club Udon site maybe?

I am overall happy with my purchases. But for some reason I felt like I was being slighted by UDON. It seemed like everyone got something MORE for purchasing the 450pg Hardcover, cept me. (cue the whine music.) I saw people getting signed… and no offer was done in the 40mins I was standing there waiting. So yeah, my book remains unsigned (and some people got sketches IN their book.)
Plus the girl in qipao hair was kind of annoying. Hearing her pitch the book about 20 times while I stood there was aggravating. Shut up already, I bought the damn book.
Ah well, UDON will probably still get money from me in the comming years.
Oh… and the Sakura Door Poster Sucked Ass. They could have done a much better pose.
Strange. When I saw Udon in 2004 they were very cool about the signing. In their defense, did you ask for any signatures? Because I remember everyone being kind of busy doing their own thing and you’d have to ask or at least get their attention to get signatures.
I’m kind of curious… Do you know if people had to pay extra for sketches done in the Ultimate Edition or did an artist just do it for purchasing it? And were they full paged sketches or just a small bust sketch?
