I want to sell discrete USB converters ASAP, but I’m not sure if I will make available the same dual USB interface that I’m using in UD-CPS2. People will want to convert all sorts of stuff to USB, so I’d like to focus my efforts where there is the most versatility and sales potenrial. Power converter boards should also be available, but I don’t think the video encoders will be offered.
Right now I’m pretty busy prepping for EVO and trying to wrap up projects at my real job, so I can’t really give an accurate estimate as to when I will have new USB boards layed out, built and ready for sale, but I’ll surely be posting info when I do.

I’ll have a better idea after EVO, honestly, but I will definitely considering it opening up for pre-orders now that I have my manufacturing process pretty much dialed. That would provide funding for more parts, as I’m basically tapped out right now.

Will you be offering the product for some time? It’s looking like I won’t have the money when you first launch it, but would still like to purchase one in the future.
ST Games went great! The whole event went quite smooth thanks to Kuroppi, Armando (ieBattleGrounds), Bernie, and everyone else running brackets, commentating, etc.! UD-CPS2 ran great (save a few unsupported controllers) and had a positive response from everyone I talked to, including top players. My only major regret was that I didn’t bug the Japanese players to try out my system. So far as I know, all of the JP players matches were streamed, meaning they would be playing on the head-to-head cabs. I’m sure I could have at least convinced Kusumondo to give it a shot, being as he was only there for ST, whereas the other JP players also had commitments to other games and didn’t have much time for casuals. I did at least have Kusumondo sign my SSFIIX board
Aside from the head-to-head cab, we ran 3 UD-CPS2s for most of the tournament. With this tournament, Super Arcade weekly tourneys with El Trouble / DGV, and last minute sessions with Damdai / Mikedge, there has been quite a bit of testing in the last couple of months, so I’m feeling pretty confident in this system (I was already pretty confident, but this is some excellent larger scale testing).
It was good meeting you in person. I kinda wish you talked about the inspiration for the UD-CPS2 on stream, lol. I’m sure I’ll see you at some point before next EVO.
Most of these details need fleshing out as some of it was told to me by others and the notes I took personally may not have been complete:
360 Madcatz SE - button mapping issues
PS3 Madcatz SE - no buttons work
PS3 mode of Paewang - not recognized at all (360 mode is fine)
PS3/360 Hori Soul Calibur V - not recognized at all
PS3 Matcatz X Tekken VS - no buttons work
PS3 Matcatz Fightstick Pro (tried EVO 2012 version as well as & “red slash” version) - no buttons work
360 Madcatz Tekken Tag 2 TE - button mapping issues
As you can see, most of these are PS3. It seems that for the most part, 360 stuff just works. I know that Sony has had PS3 updates that would prevent certain controllers from working anymore, which tells me that not all PS3 controllers are handled the same. I will have to investigate what is going on with the controllers listed above to see what is different from other working PS3 controllers.
Also, had a couple instances where Start and/or Select would stop working. Not sure as to what was going on, but I’ll double check my drivers to make sure I’m not doing something stupid.
I should have a firmware update to fix these in the next couple months (just need to find the time to go to some local gatherings to get my hands on these sticks for some debugging).
That first batch of 10 is pretty much accounted for, so I should be opening up for pre-orders pretty soon. Only hang up at the moment is getting more A boards for the future. I thought I had a good source, but looks like it dried up. I know some people are willing to send me their A boards, but the money doesn’t work out favorably for the customer (i.e. the cost of shipping me their A board pretty much nullifies the discount I’d be giving. I’ll see if I can figure out something good for everyone).

Yeah, I imagine you are right. This is such a specialized thing, I doubt many people are going to freak out over $20. On a side note, I may have found another source for bulk A boards…
What makes me sad is that people actually think $20 is alot for this niche hobby we have here.
I think I spent more last month for scart video cables for older gaming systems.
Come on, Kyle, read the OP! You would need a transcoder. UD-CPS2 does anything a PS1 can, which includes RGB, which means you could run it through a transcoder if you want Component. Nice thing is you can get those for about $50 and it will not add any detectable lag because it is all analog and isn’t doing any upscaling or fancy stuff.
