I think kickstarter is wonderful for getting projects off the ground that would normally require a substantial loan from a bank, but for this project, I’ve just been putting in personal money here and there and I believe after selling a few out-of-pocket units, that will build up enough money to fund building larger quantities, and so on. Sure, it’s a slower start, but in the end I won’t be losing 10% off the top to Kickstarter or some other lender.
There are actually a couple threads where UD-CPS2 has been discussed directly, they’re just old now and aren’t on the 1st page anymore. Once I’m in full production I’ll likely post an announcement there.

Hey undammed, been watching the progress, and i’m pretty excited for this. I will definitely purchase one when you are at the point where you can take orders. Can’t wait, I’ve started collecting CPS2 boards now that I have a jamma cabinet in my basement.
Just modified 10 cases using my jig. Still some hand work and cleanup left, but it’s looking like less than an hour per case. That’s freaking incredible. I think I mentioned previously that when doing everything by hand, it would take about half a day to get one case cut out proper.

hey brian, you don’t happen to have any orange A board do you?
My 2 st boards are asia region, and it would be very pointless to convert a grey A board.
Otherwise I’ll have to hunt for one on ebay or something, I haven’t seen one in a long while.
BTW are you gonna bring the 10 units to EVO for sale?
Sorry, man, only blue and green. Someday I will nab myself a yellow, 'cause those things are just so cool looking
Negative. Aside from the one’s used for the ST Games, most of them have already been allocated for TO’s, supporters, etc. I’m seriously considering bringing an extra to give away to the winner of the ST Games Perhaps also raffle one off?

I may never have a chance to own one, but I’ve loved this project since the very beginning, and am truly happy to see it getting to the finish line for production.
Thanks, man! I was looking through my messages and found a conversation I had with Damdai regarding this project from 2010 O_O Boy, it’s been a long haul!
EDIT -
@yogaboy I tried an X360 brawlpad the other day and it worked fine. I imagine a brawlstick uses similar electronics inside.

Art just sent me what I believe will be the final production faceplate. They are thinner than the prototype plates I had from Broken English so they actually allow for better engagement of the USB connectors. I wanted better visibility for the USB port LED indicators so I have tiny clear light pipes that I put into the LED holes in the faceplate:
Also, something people probably don’t realize is that there is just as much mechanical work as there is electronics work in this project. Getting everything to fit proper without compromising the strength of the case is a non-trivial task. Here is some plastic carnage:
Had a happy accident the other day. Madcatz had a summer sale, so I picked up a couple Brawl Pads to try out on this thing. I thought I purchased a wired X360 and a wired PS3 controller, but the PS3 controller ended up being wireless. I was disappointed, as I really wanted to try the wired PS3 variant. As I was putting some things away today, I noticed the wireless controller doesn’t use Bluetooth like the official Sony pads. It actually has it’s own USB dongle. So, what does that mean? Wireless CPS2, son:
Yeah, after building that first batch, I’m still comfortable with the $400 that I’d thrown around previously. I can give breaks to TO’s, but it will be something like a scholarship, where it is at my discretion who I give breaks to and how much of a break I give.
On a side note, if anyone is wondering about replacing the crazy loud stock fans, that is a standard part of my procedure. The loudness specified in the data sheet for the stock fan is already pretty high, but when you add in years of use in a dirty environment they become even louder as the bearings/bushings wear out. I’m using a fairly quiet industrial grade replacement (higher quality than throwaway PC case fans you find @ Fry’s or Radioshack). Many people hail the Papst 612FL as the most quiet high quality replacement fan for CPS2. If I have enough people requesting that I drop those into their systems I’ll see about ordering some in bulk. It will likely cost an extra $20, though, so probably only for people who really care about fan noise.
