UD-CPS2: Fully Consolized Capcom Play System 2

You has to click on them, silly! Yeah, I’ll shoot some pics of the decoders. As far as officially releasing them I need to do another board rev. (mechanical reasons) and implement the USB bootloader so people can upload code on their own. I’ll shoot you a PM regarding beta testing.

Have you tried clicking them? They are just as small in the Photobucket site.

LIES.

Super excited for the USB boards, going to yank the ps2 ports out of my supergun and toss that in

Any word on the cost of the USB boards?
I’d like to get two, not sure if they’re going into a cps3 or a neo geo yet.

Hey UD, you I know you updated the OP with some pics but your should make a whole clean new OP with all the latest updated info/timeline for a release!! I still want you give you monies for a VS or ST setup!
Also are you going to NEC??..maybe get some more hot pics/vids there of the project there under field use!

undamned, another month…any update on release timing? REALLY looking forward to this!

-Jim

Yeah, good call on editing the OP. It’s pretty outdated. I’ll get to that when I have the time to do it proper. No NEC for me. Probably won’t be hitting any majors till later next year. Wanna get more in tune with the local scene and visit some HAZbats.

Sorry, Jim, no release date yet. Been hammering away on re-designing PCBs lately. Lots of hours. Hoping to have the USB bootloader finished over Christmas break.

This is awesome.

I really hope this project isnt on hiatus

Im planning to buy a ST board to use it with the consolized CPS2, but I dont want to end up only with a ROM n from what I ve seen setting up a supergun is more trouble, ur project sounds a way better option.

Heh, well not technically. Just spent a lot of time with family here and out of town over the holidays, so I was pretty much limited to doing things that didn’t involve being holed up in my office. I’m back now, though. Gonna try and hit it hard this weekend.

When you say you don’t want to end up only with a ROM, what do you mean, exactly? Yes, simplicity is definitely what I’m after. Superguns aren’t a bad thing for hobbyist type folks, but for those of us who want a compact CPS2 solution for tournaments and everything else, I think this is it.

I like the easy plug n play option ur CPS2 consolized offers, what I mean is Im waiting to buy urs first, then the ST game second, cuz I dont want to buy a supergun

  • Rufus said the USB converters worked fine @ SCR 2013.

  • USB bootloader works.

  • OP cleaned up a bit.

USB converters worked like a charm at SCR. I didn’t have a single problem with it, even when swapping between different sticks. No noticeable input delay at all.

Any pics from SCR?

I wasn’t there personally, so maybe some of those who attended will share some pics?

> I wasn’t there personally, so maybe some of those who attended will share some pics?

I put the converters into enclosures. They basically look like nondescript rectangular hunks of plastic (one purple, one green) with a USB-A female and DB-15 female ports on the ends. I can take a picture and post it if you like.

I was thinking it would be cool to see them in use @ the event. Project boxes on their own are usually pretty boring  Know of any photo coverage of the ST tourney? I imagine Kuropi and friends are still compiling stuff.

UD, if ST somehow gets in as the 8th game I hope your ready for some influx of demand
