October has arrived, any good news?
This project is amazing. I remember seeing some MVS units āconsolizedā and thinking it was cool, but this is great.
This may have been covered already on previous pages, but have you considered selling DIY kits for the whole thing? Or is it that way already? Also, Iām not sure if itās feasible for average/inexperienced players to do this, but maybe for seasoned modders you could have that as an option to get the price down some.
Hello everyone,
Iām new to the whole CPS 2 collecting world but I have been looking out for info for the past 2 years. I bumped into this thread as I was trying to find alternative ways to play cps 2 games (mainly Street Fighter, MVC games). I just read the entire thread and I am excited for this project. Please also add me as someone who is definitely interested. Keep up the great work UD and thank you for allowing me to witness this awesome journey.
Maybe Iāll order 2 once theyre available
comon UD we want some news : )
Hey, guys. Iām still alive, just really busy Iāll try and give a more thorough status update in the next few days.

I need to spent my money the EURO is going down !!!
I know that a LOT of neo geo dot com guys will want your consolized CPS2 boards as well.
That site moves a lot of Capcom stuff espesially CPS2.
I am down for a blue and grey board when ready!
Good luck with it all.
Yea, been looking forward to this for months. I am sure youāll sell a lot of them! Iād like to place an order when available.
what if u can dedicate 1 hour each day to this project? its been a long time n everybody wanting 1 of these babies since the first day u made the thread.
Can I get the link to this site your talking about? Iām very interested in CPS-2 stuff.
Thanks. I appreciate it.
hopefully its available soon, seems there is a long waiting list
||| WARNING ||| HUGE POST APPROACHING FAST! ARE YOU READY? ** |||**** WARNING |||**
Oh, man. The last few months have been like slow motion. Sparing you guys the details of real life stuff getting in the way, I just finished laying out a new video converter board that will hopefully eliminate the video noise I was seeing on the composite video output. Previously, I was convinced the noise was coming from my power supply (which is still noisy, because I havenāt had time to deal with it, blah), but after running everything off of a nice clean power source, the video noise is still present. Hopefully this will be fixed w/ my new video converter.
How long till these are available? Good question! Seeing as I still have some issues to work out, I really canāt guarantee a date. Itās one of those āit aināt over 'till itās overā things, but if itās any consolation, Iāve been putting a large portion of my free time towards knocking this stuff out. General todo list:
- Test new video converter and decide on final solution
- Finish case milling jig (coming along nicely. About 75% done)
- Finish diagnosing noisy power supply (and likely do new board layout)
- Do new USB interface (3rd one
) to allow for nicer mechanical spacing (additional mounting screw, better LED placement, etc.)
- Finalize faceplate layout to match new USB interface layout and find a plastic shop for the milling
- Finalize controller drivers and hopefully add the ability to update firmware via USB ports
As you can see, getting a few working prototypes up and running was only half the battle (or less). The final refinement for optimal performance and manufacturability is just as tasking or worse. Please have patience and we will all win. You will have a nicer product and I will actually have hair left when these are in full production.
Along with the new video converter board, I also finished layouts for a prototype run of various USB converters for you modding folk. Once those are built up Iāll be sending them out to some pre-selected beta testers for initial feedback. For you joystick modders, this will provide a means of bench testing your modded sticks without the need for a console/display. Wire up some LEDs and a 5V power supply to one of these things and youāve got yourself a pocket sized joystick tester!
Hmm, full kits, eh? Well, short answer is not now, but I will be offering something along those lines around the time of the UD-CPS2 release: Power supply, video converter, and USB converters (single channels). It wonāt allow someone to duplicate what Iām doing aesthetically, but functionally 100%.
Ha!
Yeah, Iām scared of what will happen when I open up the flood gates!
Hey, glad you enjoyed the read! I have a short list of TOās and key players that will be getting them first (mostly people that Iāve been discussing this project with for a long time), as Iāll be using their feedback to gauge some things, but after that Iāll have to come up with a system for ordering.
Also, if any of you are in Arizona, Iām planning on having at least one UD-CPS2 running for casuals at the This is It! tournament, next weekend.

If Gummo doesnāt take all your 2nd generation USB decoders PM, Iād like to get at least four of them.
Great ! I don`t mind waiting as long as I am the first in europe to have this little gem in my hands !! lol
No , man I prefere proper work instaed of an unstable product.

Ok, got some prototype PCBs in last week. Built up my new video encoder board and it does not fix my composite video noise issue. Thoroughly frustrating, but at least I can say I tried and cross it off my todo list. Iāll eventually flesh out the video FAQ in the OP to detail optimal video setups for playing/streaming, possibly including an interesting video enhancement setup (requires a PC) that pixel heads might find fascinating.
Built up some USB decoders for peopleās supergun kits. They look great, but I need to do a few mechanical tweaks and make some mini-faceplates for them.
Updated the OP w/ a few front view pics.

Wow, those might be the tiniest pics Iāve seen since I donāt know when, lol. Any chance of a couple of photos of the USB decoders?
