Japan still uses Geese, I think someone mentioned that he was still top tier. Most everyone’s still stuck on Sagat/Sakura/Cammy/Blanka, though.

Id’s past titles have all been fun, but I urge you to take a look at more than the glowing reviews you see from high-profile guys like PCgamer and gamespot. I mean, they may admit some flaws or things they didn’t particularly like, but while they may sound rather significant they don’t have an effect on the overall score since the “impressive visuals” always make up for them.
In fact, PCGamer did a particularly bad review demonstrating some really poor journalism. I’ll write it up later and put up my own thoughts on the game once I’ve taken it for a spin.

i’m at eugene’s. i was playing some doom 3 on his ultra suped up l33t c0mpuz0r.
its’ pretty much the same experience i had when i first played half life, only a lot scarier, better graphics, and more dark areas(meaning i need to switch between my gun and flashlight more).
i’m not too far in the game, but i got to a point where i have about 80 life, and soon as i get this ‘key item’, one by one, these big demons that throw fireballs warp in. i blow up two of them as they spawn since they’re in my way to an open area. soon as i get to that room, i start shooting up on the 4 demons that followed me, finally i get them down to the last guy(with like 30 hp left, cuz i’m really that GOOD at strafing), as i’m killing the last guy, another demon pops out from the door behind me and starts attacking me, i kill off both with my uber l33t skillz0rZ, with like 3 health left. i look around for heatlh and one of the human zombie guys with a pistol pops out and caps me in the head.
i go and tell eugene, "holy shit this game is hard."
he tells me "maybe you shouldnt’ have put the difficulty on ‘veteran’ "
:lol: doom3 is tight, but nothing beats good old dota.
well i buy id games pretty much regardless of if they are supposed to be good or bad minus the ones that really fell between the cracks, like heretic and hexen. As long as there are people to play aganst, there is fun to be had.
Yes Eliot I bought the game, on the midnight opening at West Hollywood Best Buy to be exact. Game reviews are pretty worthless…for example Gamespot gave Freedom Fighters a higher rating (around 9.2) than Doom III (8.5).
Reviews aside, the game itself is just incredible. If you’re not one to follow up on hyped up games, just because they are hyped up, then you’d be missing out on this one.
Maybe I sound like a walking-talking advertisement for ID software, but the game is good, and I like it. Not much else to it than that.
i was watching eugene play doom3. then i decided to play some war3 on the comp next to him. i sign on to bnet, and i see eugene signed on bnet.
me: "hey you’re still on bnet"
eugene: “oh,” presses alt-tab and closes warcraft
me: "holy shit man, you were running doom3 and warcraft at the same time."
eugene:“hmm…well i did notice the load screen was slightly longer”

Temporary solution: don’t use sigs. Since they’re no longer a faded grey, they blend with normal text and it gets a tad confusing. So, just not having 'em for now is a good quick fix.
as for avp, i’m probably gonna go see it on tuesday, despite some early bad reviews 
Good point, I also happen to be off Tuesday, so if your looking for people to go I’m all in. Plus I get free popcorn on Tuesdays.

he probably thought it was an anime convention and didnt know there was a tournament going on.
hah, he did walk around as if he was in an anime convention. me and john would try to avoid him everytime we see him at the byoc room. like once…john swore he was coming towards us, so john was like “quick allen…follow me outside” and we went outside, looped around and came back in the other side…and i think he was waiting closer to the door that we exited from. good call by john.
