Grand Finals

I was close!

This game really needs to hit console. The fact I don’t have as much natural talent as Jack and don’t want to spend as much $$$ at the MU is becoming more and more obvious

Also,

what is this douchebaggery. That was my favorite match, too and it took like 4 hours to edit and convert :arazz:

Walter is my brother.

I think because the match was too epic for youtube. That and the ten minute limit.

I knew you were part black Coopa, the way you imitated balrog’s stance lol.

Dunno who the guy was who stayed till closing who main’d Sagat but played Ryu mostly cuz we couldn’t get em off the cab, but ggs. I ran out of coins trying to play learn more Viper and Bison. Although when i picked Bison i was really tryin to get you off the cab  I ended up just picking Viper to learn more, just can’t SJ cancel for shit it seems, so no luck with Ultra. But i know how to hold my own with her now, so next event here comes Viper!

Also, Roy what is this i hear about EX Siesmo > Ultra???

David, apply for a director account. That’s how my friend uploaded my whack ass cvs2 combo video, which is over 10 mins long.

Director accounts are for photography majors and other attention whores

Anybody wanna eat at the DC/Pluto’s sometime? I have a sudden craving for a well balanced meal/Caesar salad

Hey thanks for giving the breakdown. Friday looked to be so much fun.

I can treat you and anyone who wants to go to the DC. I have some swipes.

Here is what i think the results really were.

1st. Jack
2nd. Sean
3rd. Renelo
4th. Eric Choi
5th. Tyram
5th. ???
7th. ???
7th. ???

@1:37, also you can do it anywhere on the screen

GG’s all around for sure. Yesterday was way fun, good to see all you people.

Thanks again for hosting Marty.

Alright, thanks guys. That’s what I was thinking but I remembered Tyram using RY/SA and Choi using RY the entire time so it didn’t seem right…

By the way Jack, you want that one minute of the elderly lady playing Pump?

When Renel and Choi were playing it started Ryu vs ryu, then it went Ryu v Ken for the remainder.

I think that’s what the people really want to see.

Thanks to everyone who showed up. Couldnt have done it without you guys. For my first tournament everything went pretty smoothly. And thanks to RAM, jack, renel for the other guys who gave me some help and pointers. Very appreciated. We really didint go all out to advertise this thing and still 17 people showed up. dang. I shoulda just ran off with the prize money and had jack finish running the thing. lol.

I think tournaments down here should should be held once a month. And next time we’ll do more games. But I’m gonna need lots of help since I know massive chaos will ensue. I’ll still host SF4 and enter it this time, since people were asking me why I didnt enter. We’ll also run CvS2 (can you Matt host?), MvC2 (Allen?), and 3rd Strike (RAM?). The details are still in the works but I’ll work on them ASAP.

RAM, if you wanna run HDR talk to Dan (dantron) about it. He’s the main guy see. But personally, I think its an awesome idea. I just dont know where you would have the thing.

And here are the official results for you guys (top 8):

1st- Jack (5-0) - Ryu
2nd- Sean (4-2) - Zangief
3rd- Renel (5-2) - Ryu/Boxer
4th- Eric Choi (4-2) - Ryu
5th- Tyram (2-2) - Ryu/Sagat
5th- Cameron (2-2) - Ken
7th- Allen (3-2) - Sagat
7th- Walter (2-2) - Vega and like 8 others

Again, thanks to everyone for making this happen. Keep posted for details on our next event.

Marty, can you make the next tournament at the very end of February? I think people want to practice using the console for a bit before hitting the tournament again.
Also, a suggestion: if you want more tournaments on the same day, how about having the MUGA host a sf4 console tournament in the griffin lounge, and use the rest of the cave for the other games? Just a suggestion.

Fun tournament. Marty if you ever need help or can’t make it to run a tournament, hit me up and I’ll try to help. I don’t mind running MvC2, but I’m not sure if we can get enough people to come out and play. I’ll have to ask Herman to help, since he’s the only good player I know.

Hey Guys,
I’ve got the videos pretty much done, I’ve just been experimenting
with file types & sizes on the youtube.
I think I’ve figured it out so the quality doesn’t take too much of a hit
once the youtube compressors get ahold of it.
The full, straight from the tape video looks really nice, the colors & detail came out
beautifully.
Too bad so many forms of compression have to be involved :bluu:

I second Coopa’s idea about waiting till the end of Feb. to hold the next SF4 tourney.
Letting people get more familiar with the game at home will increase the overall skill
level of those participating in the next tournament(s), people like me.

Also, anybody think about Capcom’s tendency to retool SF games with what usually ends up being 3 versions (example: SF3, SF3: Double Impact, & SF3: 3rd Strike).
So does anybody think the same fate awaits SF4, and if so, do you think the home console version counts as SF4 version 2.0 since more characters have been added (with the possibility of added “Options” like an adjustable increase in speed)?
I know, I think too much sometimes… :smokin:

A console tournament would be a lot faster with more than two people being able to play at once, but Dan said earlier that doing anything in Griffin Lounge is a major hassle.

720x406 MPEG-4 worked best for me. YouTube wouldn’t high quality my H.264 videos for some odd reason. :arazz:

Oh, and damn Marty for turning the difficulty up to 8. Fighting CPU Honda is like using Sean against CPU Ryu and Hugo at the same time  Solid reversal ochio and crazy damage buffs from the high difficulty. CPU Gief is a moron by comparison, lol

I can help run SF3 since I’m one of the guys who actually plays it around here.

And SF4 CPU Honda fucks me up.

Serious question - should we consider doing the next tourney on a Saturday so more people are guaranteed to be free?

As long as it’s not a holiday weekend where everybody + their momma goes back home to do whatever the hell it is you people do in your hometowns, then I don’t see any downside to holding it on a Saturday.
