And I’m pretty sure all of us want a Guile similar to Popo.
Accidentally choosing Abel ended up being better than I thought. For some reason I can’t beat you in a mirror match with Gief anymore. It makes me cry, especially that ex green hand combo missing and doing your ultra WHILE the EX GREEN HAND WAS OUT. :arazz::arazz::arazz::arazz::arazz::arazz::arazz:
Hey guys, I had a lot of fun last night! I met some really cool people, and played tons of SF4. I want everyone to get better, so please feel free to ask me any questions and I will do my best to help with the limited knowledge I have. (I’m learning with the rest of you) :china:
Good luck, for those who are going to the California Regional for SF4… sorry I can’t go, I am busy lately between work, friends, gf, school starting soon, etc.
Anyways, it was fun last night, thanks for the good times, and yeah def. we should set up a tournament. It seems everyone’s gotten much better!
 AMERICAAAAA
P.S.
Here are some videos of me, back when I was learning ST for like the first month:
The other player, Nekohashi, is a friend of mine who offered to teach me the game. His main game is Vampire Savior, but he’s really amazing in fighters in general, so he picked up ST really fast, with his ST teacher being arguably the best Ryu player in Japan (ShootingD). He got 4th or 5th or something in ST:AE last year at SBO08 and SBO07, and also his 3s team placed really high at the same tournaments. I really respect him and owe him tons.

Once SF4 hits console, is anybody going to be holding ranbats at their house or sessions? I’m debating picking up the SF4 Tournament Edition stick cause it’s fucking amazing in terms of construction. If anybody’s up for it, which system, ps3 or xbox360 so I know before I buy :D.
Someone better host something. We’ve been playing for far too long not to have some sort of tourney.
Can someone just call Arcade Infinity and ask them how they set event mode?
Edit -
Just made this thread - http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?p=5949166#post5949166
Hopefully we can get this figured out.
Edit2 -
Thread already go a response. If we just set the win limit to 1 it’ll kick both players off after the match.
So yeah, can we just do that and set the game to freeplay for the tourney? Having both players shell out 3 tokens per match is kinda ridiculous, esp if we do 2/3 double elimination.
I can throw something at my house. I have an open living room and a garage, but it’s like 2 miles away from all you other guys
Jack because of your avatar and signature I’ve seen the video a trillion times now. oh god HE IS SO PRINGLES!
PS3 will probably be best. afaik Sean is the only guy who actually has a 360 arcade stick or a PS2->360 converter
edit: Damnit, I think I left my white THIS IS MY TOKEN at the MU. Guess I’ll make another one
That video’s fucking win.
Just get the ps3 stick. I’m pretty sure that’s what they will be using in tournaments anyway: the ps3.
Edit: Plus, I’m getting it for the ps3 anyway, and I’m sure most of you have ps2 sticks. I have a converter for that for the ps3. If it ever comes out, yeah, I guess I can host a ranbat. I’m assuming that means like… an unofficial tourney? Or is that like a house sf4 party? On that note, thank to everyone who came to my place today. I had a lot of fun! Hokuto no Ken, Fate Unlimited Codes, SF: HD Remix. I had fun with all those games.
I’m looking into hosting game sessions, most likely I will, at least small ones. I have a 360, so all game playing will be done on that.
Maybe everyone should just get a bunch of converters.
I know a lot of people at the MUGA still don’t have a ps3/360 and SF4 might push them over the edge to get one.
For anyone still debating whether to get ps3 or 360, consider this:
*PS3 is expensive but it has free online play.(albeit crappy)
*360 is less expensive. Live is miles better than PlayOnline.(but you also pay for Live)
*For SF4 purposes the 360 is cheaper. Right now you can get the Arcade version for $200.(at Target you also get a $20 gift certificate when you buythe Arcade version, so it comes out to 180).
*The Arcade version will not come with a HDD though, the 120GB one will cost around $150.(even if you get it the entire system will still cost less than PS3). But you can also get a used 60 gb HDD online without much effort for around $20-$30.
So basically:
SF4 360 setup cost(System/Game/Tourney Ed. Stick): $390+tax
SF4 PS3 setup cost(System/Game/Tourney Ed. Stick): $610+tax
eh, okay enough of that.
So fucking classic.
I don’t know about anyone else, but all of my sticks have Dual Shock innards. So yeah, PS3 style for me. Also - in before PS3 vs Xbox fanboy arguments.
DAN - plz respond to info about tourney. “Event mode” can be replicated by setting the win limit to 1 (not positive, need to test).
I am willing to run it next saturday. I propose we put it on free play and collect 2 dollars from each participant for the MU. 2/3 matches, double elim, no entry fee/cash prize. I feel like a 5 buck entry fee would turn away a lot of players, which is obviously bad for the scene and making people want to play more/improve when they’re just donating to the better players wallets.
Winner gets to hold on to a WWF championship belt until the next tourney.
Fuck yeah, Jack taking the initiative. Hopefully, we’ll have a tourney. Do you think you could get Marty to help host as well Jack? If you need any help, I’m not sure what I would be able to do, but let me know and I’ll try to do it whether it’s keeping the roster and the wins or w/e.
Also I agree with using PS3’s if we’re ever going to do a meetup. I think Sean, Jack, and Kevin have them and it’s 10x cheaper to do a PS2 adapter for PS3 rather than 360 (which Sean only has one of).
I still really want a custom arcade stick. Maybe the Tournament Edition sticks will be moddable, but overall, having a stick wired to a PS2 pcb or a hybrid 360/PS3 is the way to go for me (preferably PS2). In the meantime, I guess I could borrow my brother’s hrap2, while I dream of having an awesome stick of my own. I find that my modded sfae is too heavy for me to play on my lap. I think it’s like what Cameron said and that the Happ competitions are too springy and that’s why it’s better if they’re somewhere flat (eg me sitting on the floor).
The TE sticks are supposed to be the easy mode of modding. You don’t have to solder at all as long as you don’t want illuminated buttons or a new PCB
Wasn’t much comp today in the afternoon. All of Rufus’ win quotes are a paragraph of either Rufus beefing with Ken or Rufus telling a completely unrelated story.
Round 3 double KO = both players lose
Is the belt one of those John Cena spinner ones? Those are pretty baller.
Is there a way to set up recording of matches on the cab? I wanna actually be able to put up videos of our play because we’re actually a lot better then most arcades in terms of variety and experience. It’d bring in some business and get people excited about the norcal fighting game scene again.
I would probably be able to hold some sessions, I have a big screen, ps3, and stick but soon to be 2 sticks.
Gamechariot records most of their matches directly from the cabinet, probably with a video splitter setup between the cab and the HD monitors.
We’d probably be better off just having someone with a tripod/camcorder recording though. You’d be able to get crowd reactions that way and it won’t be a total pain to setup :looney:
