Oy. I’ll enter.
I am in for SF4. Also, I have a PVR that I could bring down for this or the regular TW. If you were interested in getting some recordings.
That BITCH! He don’t need that shit.
I’d bring a TV and enter but I’m not 21(+)
So does this essentially mean a singles tourney at 7PM would not be OK? That it would pretty much have to be casuals only?
i hate being under 21
grow up …
21+ is dumb…it’s gonna be sad if the only relevant singles tournaments in the NW are 21+ since there are literally no SF4 events (outside of twars) in the NW…seriously I’m worried that when the some of NW and I go down to nor cal about the ass kicking we are going to get because of the lack of competition we’re having. This has been bothering more so lately…I had to go up to the BC and get scraped by the players up there to realize what was going on…we need more tournaments here…seriously if we don’t get more of an outcome at tournaments (tourney play 3 had around 10 people) or just tournaments themselves when it comes time for real competition we’re going to get beat bad…worse than what happened at evo…and the fact that you guys are making it 21+ just sort of bothered me further…also $1-2 is so irrelevant for a single tournament that the competition level won be that high…that’s like playing with “play money” at online poker sites…we need real tournaments here…the only real matches I’ve played here in a while have been the 2-10 dollar MM’s I had at twars but now since that is over there is no place that forces you to play smart or loose and be out…that kind of thing makes you better…casuals are fun but they’re just that “for fun” not played too terribly serious. Sorry about the rant but this has been bothering me for a while and this seemed like a decent place to vent.
Well set something up then, Bokkin.
If it bothers you that much- do something about it.
all i have to say is… HAHAHHAAH
and HAHAHHAHAHAHAH
and damn dog ranting bout not being 21 thats something a minor would do HAHAHAHAHAHAH
oh i’m down sign me up
I have been working and calling shit up since that revelation tepid…it got to me that much.
and kk my rant was about the lack of tournaments but you would have only needed to have read past the first line to understand that.
I think it’s weird you get such a kick out of people being a year or so from being an arbitrary set age when at one point you were there too and that age is preventing you from doing some totally different activity that has nothing to do with the law set age for an environment. I can die for my country but God forbid I be allowed to drink (or even be inside a bar NOT drinking). Washington state law is stupid at least Michigan knew how to make laws even though state wise they fucking suck.
The only reason its 21+ is because its inside of a bar.
So yeah, couldnt make it. Not till september.
I hear ya, in the sense that we’re way behind in comparison to the rest of the country. That is, however, what a lot of the members in the scene are working towards fixing…Tournament Wars, Seattle Versus.com, any and all who organize and run various tournaments or sessions…just give it time. Or better yet, follow suit, step up yourself, donate more of your own, personal time that could be spent elsewhere, and try to put something together to help boost our scene.
Like I said, I hear the desire to improve all our games, but if the only time you can set aside to provide anything for the community is when you personally are playing, then you might want to consider closing your mouth before knocking on those providing.
And I know I don’t hear you bitching about a bar setting being 21+. At least I hope that’s not what I hear, cause then you’re just not even thinking before writing a damn thing.
edit:
Wow dude. Bitching for the sake of? I mean I’m a huge Devil’s advocate, but this is like…playing bitch’s advocate.
edit edit: Sorry if I come off as an ass, I’ve had the worst hangover all day. Fucking Tuesday. (was great?)
It’s not us guys making it 21+, it’s washington state laws. They can’t help that it’s in a bar. It’s not like we want to have less competition. Frank started this whole thing because we had nothing, so now we at least have this. It’s a step in the right direction, and it just so happens that we got hooked up with a venue that happens to be a bar.
actually it’s not the fact that it’s a bar it’s the amount of room we have adjacent to a bar that’s not 21+ that bothers me the most. Plus the fact we’d be more in the way in the bar than in the restaurant. The 21 age has always bothered me since not only did I almost join the military but I trained with them for months and when they went of base for the most part I couldn’t go because of my age.
But to my real point of the lack of competition. You’re right about if I have such a problem then I should be doing something and I am…the fact that I feel alone in the main point of my rant is sad though.
If you want to host a singles tourney that isn’t in a bar, find a venue. I am trying to set this up as a precursor to TWs so that we atleast have a regular singles tourney without infringing on TWs - so it’s at the Best Western, and we only have access to the bar/lounge until 10:30PM. And I don’t really agree with you about the money aspect of things, I’m not trying to have this be a giant tourney at the moment. We have solid players in our community, and the more people play eachother the more we can work to level up. We are lacking on single events right now, and hopefully this helps.
The entry fee will likely go up to around 5$ at least, and maybe more depending on turn-out. But this first week or two especially, we just want to see how well this works with Best Western and how well we can run it in that small lounge area. If these small tourneys go well, I may even see what I can do about setting up something once or twice a month on Friday nights at a more well-equipped venue for a singles tourney. Understand that this is plannde to be a REGULAR, weekly tourney. I know I definitely don’t want to be dropping 20-30$/week for a tourney entry fee.
I’m not trying to suond angry at you Carlos, sorry if it comes off that way. But complaining about things isn’t helping - we need to step it up and try to organize things so that we can all level up and grow as a community. I think Frank starting Tournament Wars is a huge step, and I think we all need to do everything we can to help him out and also grow outside of Tournament Wars where possible/necessary.
edit: I edited this opst way too much,
Yeah as far as I know, we arent allowed to touch the restaurant area until 10pm, but were free to the bar area. I would love to attend some tournaments at other places or times, but Ill take what I can get. I dont have the time or power to run my own at this present day.
Ghrrk is right in that we’re not allowed to use that other area until later in the night at like 10 or whatever. You’re not alone in the wanting more chances to play. I feel the pain of the minors still and would be down to help something but we’d need a place to play.
I understand your frustration very well, but it’s like 21+ singles tournament or no tournament.
Also the scene could just get over the bias against Gameclucks and use them for a competitive monthly tournament…
cue Elliot with a statement on Adderall.
I’ve never been to Gameclucks events or anything, I was always working when they happened. Was there some issue with them?
