TVC US version character changes (to be updated)

http://wii.ign.com/articles/105/1050312p1.html

I found a few interesting additions in both vids for Lightan and PTX:

Gold Lightan
+0:25 : Although it’s been mentioned already, drop kick sends him much farther horizontally, so Lightan might have a chance at combating distant enemies as well as have an easier time moving (albeit with the cost of red life to baroque)
+/- 0:50 : Perhaps for both giants, although they end up in the air after a throw escape, they can follow up with attacks mid-air now. However, so can the grab escapee.

  • 2:16 : Frank West jumps after Chun-li gets defeated, Lightan does j.C on Frank West during jump immediately into 41236+two attacks super… AND COMBOS!

PTX-40A

  • 0:33 : It has been mentioned that 6B4B sends opponent into vertical spin and knockdown. In addition to that, it’s actually a launcher! PTX-40A combos into Riot Tackle to 2C, Baroque, 2C in the corner… but it gets worse…
  • 1:18 : PTX-40A combos the already powerful 6B4B into Riot Tackle into lvl. 3 Super in the corner… combo isn’t done until after the lvl.3 cinematic, PTX-40A dashes in midscreen and does an OTG 2C… I don’t remember this ever being done in CGOH…

:sweat: scary shit. you think he can Baroque into another otg 2c?

Hah, Frank West’s intro line was amazing.

Also, finally the Gold Finger connects when OTG! Before it OTGs but the animation never continues.

PTX is soooooooooooo br0ke

so much good rep for a troll. saki, tekkaman, ryu, ect. over. lol.

can someone upload the new vids from IGN to youtube
Wii Internet Browser + IGN Videos = Update Flash Player fail…
Wii Internet Browser + Youtube Videos = Yay it works…

cries tears of joy

OH BOY am I hyped for PTX all over again…holy shit, 2C after a level 3…and combo options off 6B4B. This is SEXY.

And while this stuff may be pretty awesome, I doubt it will break PTX. Keep in mind that the giants have lost their megacrash grabs, and are still vulnerable to the same petty tactics such as baroque shielding and runaway. They do need these boosts, even PTX.

Also, I find it really interesting that when the character breaks out of your grab now, you can hit them with weak punches and kicks for chip damage. No, really this is not bad at all.

Something interesting I noticed though. At 2:16, PTX is hit by Tekkaman Blade’s j.5C while he’s doing 6B4B and Tekkaman Blade slows down, but PTX doesn’t seem to get stunned in super armour. He still takes damage, but I wonder if this is the ‘shield’ in action?

What 2:17? Don’t you mean the “block” before Blade performed Crash Interlude?

No, I mean the part where blade uses j.5C

PTX doesn’t block at all in the part you’re talking about. Tekkaman is the one who blocks PTX’s 6B4B

You know what? I reckon PTX could combo while the opponent is on their way down from being hit by the level 3. Maybe a launcher or 5C, or even guns.

@ Leady: Tekkaman and Ryu aren’t really threats anymore now that PTX has improved ways of getting in. Shield mode on riot tackle will plow through hadoukens and lariats. I think Saki will still be a big problem and probably Tekkaman Blade too. Karas isn’t nearly as scary anymore since he can’t do the infinites.

OMG giants all I can say is this.

soz, i just watched those new vidsup there. that was ridiculous. so much speed and recovery. -_- pretty disgusting. giants r going to be used liek karas was in the jp version. not that it rly matters since barely anyone’s interested in this game in comparison to silly ssf4. so who am i talking about will be ‘using’ them anyways??

If you’ve tried properly using PTX, you’d realise it isn’t like that.

Giants are hard to play effectively and more fragile than you think. I wouldn’t compare them to Karas because if you don’t pay attention for just one moment, it’s very easy to lose. They can’t force you to take damage the way Karas does. (PTX can, but only when it has rockets) and they have very specific weaknesses that will still be exploitable.

Giants need to work to land a hit, and when they do their combos require meter if they’re going to be nearly as powerful as some of the full combos a normal team can perform without meter.

i’m just saying they seemed liek they were harder to use before. lol. this is def. good in the eyes of giant-lovers.

So, it looks like Gold Lightan’s Crush hits OTG now. That’s a worthwhile boost I can agree with.

Although PTX’s 2C after his LVL3 was WHAT.

Funny thing is, I think he may be able to do that in the current game even though I’ve never tested (and can’t test now due to nintendo disabling my freeloader) but most likely not. Most PTX players prefer to reload their guns anyway.

And yeah, both giants both got great boosts which is fantastic news for giant players.

By the way, I think Gold Lightan’s Gold Crash hits low now. Look at the video and you notice Chun Li is walking backwards while it hits. Unless the player just stopped guarding (which is a bit silly) it looks like it’s either unblockable or a low hit.

Giants will have a harder time now that the enemy’s level meter goes up faster when damaged.

no, I don’t think so. Because the same goes for them too. Giants already gain a lot of meter naturally and having more meter gained while being hit will give them more megacrashes to cover mistakes with.

Most giant combos aren’t particularly long anyway, and megacrash isn’t much of a problem for them since if you try to megacrash something they do, they can just continue pressure because they aren’t blown away.

It means we may have to get used to eating more level 3’s per match I suppose. But one of the main things as a giant player is making sure not to get hit by those in the first place XD

Either way, they definately will not have an overall harder time just because of that.

@Leady: the ‘speed and recovery’ is exactly the same as it’s always been. PTX looks a lot faster than he actually is, same for Lightan’s jabs. what you don’t realise is that the giants have holes in their offense if they don’t cancel an attack string with baroque. PTX can circumvent this by poking with J.5C, but normally even 2A has a lot of lag if you don’t cancel it into anything.

either way, it’s making the game better and more balanced, so it’ll be better to play and spectate. :karate:

Yes, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with characters getting more meter on hit ^^. Less instances of being stuck in a combo and not being able to do anything, more tactical baiting to try to force the opponent into wasting meter so you can pound them when it counts.

Are the giants still able to get dizzied? I didn’t see it in the Lightan video, and he definitely got hit enough times to get dizzied in the JP version.
