TVC UAS Tier list speculation thread

Oh BTW, Nyoronoru why do you say Roll is good?

Don’t have an opinion on it but I’d be really interested to know. I mean point, not assist BTW.

Roll is small and she can deal out a lot of good damage. Plus she has the super to gain life which is also good to switch into other supers. She has potential. Also Saki’s assist really all I know is it works good with Morrigan and Ken. I dont know about the others.

its a damn shame that this is the most active thread in the tvc subforum. i guess peeps would rather talk about what’s good with them tiers than good strats. -_-

Calling Marn or Justin or any of those guys a “tier whore” is like saying Tiger Woods wins golf tournaments only because he has an expensive set of golf clubs.

If you do a basic ground combo string with Roll, near the wall you can get some pretty interesting damage. She’s small, so a lot of standing moves miss her. Also un-megacrashable combos and a heal super.

The only thing holding her back is her range, and she can’t combo easily off of jumping normals. It’s really irritating. She also can’t do anything about runaways.

no, is because he releases a lot of sexual energy on each hit…

No seriously, how about Casshan?
Not more that mid tier material?

He have problems to enter opponents but he enters and you are dead

let me give u my opinion about chun-li, after almost 1 year of playing her:

back in CGoH she was a beast, everyone knows that, but still japanese people didnt use her that much (at least in the vids that were uploaded in nico) the only problem was that the only special move that was actually useful was LLs (her normals are good), tensho sucked, SBK sucked, fireball was unneccesary (slow start up for the one that goes fullscreen, only useful when you bbq it but nothing else), headstop didnt hit crouching opps (which is BS considering almost every other chun li can do that, even in MvC2 where shes low tier, at least you can do ambiguous crossups with it and cancel it into LLs which was free combo in CGoH) kikosho sucks as well (in MvC2 the opp couldnt recover until they hit the ground, which allowed a semi infinite in the corner, its like they just put it there because it HAD to be there) so yeah only LLs (and kicks super) was the real thing, and boy if it wasnt gdlk, beated everything, builded meter, infinite in the corner, it was awesome. She also had (and still does btw) that jump C loop which opens tons of mixups but it was more deadly in CGoH cuz it carried u all the way to the corner where you could megacrash or use assist to start an infinite (which worked on every member of the cast…except maybe daimao but who cares). Now on UAS LLs infinite is gone, headstomp still doesnt hit crouchers, SBK got better cuz you can loop with it in the corner, tensho still sucks (too unreliable to use as anti air). Does this make chun bad? no. Her 3 air dahes give her really good mobility plus mad mixups after the jump C loop which still exists, her LLs infinite can be looped until 3 or 4 times if Im not mistaken, still has the mixups, but she needs a good assist/partner to be really scary, she is kinda independant in the sense that if she is alone, she can still be good and defeat people, but ith the right partner she becomes absolutely beastly. She is still really good in UAS, but what really pisses me off, is that capcom didnt give her good special moves here, WTF? where is the flip kick? headstomp should hit crouchers, kiosho should be better or to be replaced by another super. So yeah, bottom line, chun is prob A-tier in UAS since she didnt change that much except for the LLs infinite gone, but seriously capcom, give her good special moves in the next VS game.

^ You know it would seriously help if people explained in vivid detail the reasoning behind their tier lists otherwise its just kind of pointless.

Not to say I’m high level or anything but some of these lists just do not make any sense. I mean, Yatt-1 an A+? PTX higher than Tekkaman? Polimar and Soki being in the same tier as Morg and above Volnutt? Ryu, Alex, Blade NOT being Top tier?

Eh, think I’ll stick to the character subforums and just playing the game as this is getting a bit silly. =) I don’t think Japan plays this game all that much but hopefully arcadia comes out with a tier list in the months to come; they’re not the end-be-all mind you but they’ll most certainly give better placements than what’s being seen in this thread.

This is a speculation thread. People are just posting how they see things. If you want to know why ask them.

Arcadia probably won’t release a tier list because this is a console game.

Also, Y1 is among the best characters in the game, if you can’t see this then you need to look closer. He’s fast, highly mobile, has insane mix-up, does great damage, has the best reset game in UAS. His normals are among the best in the game in terms of range, speed and priority. AND he’s highly versatile - he can zone, rush-down, and hit-and-run as well as (or better then) anyone.

I could go into detail on a lot of characters but just let me do five characters now starting with Casshan, Tekkaman Blade, Morrigan, Saki and Tekkaman.

Tekkaman I will say will be Low B Tier just because he lacks the mix ups, not very fast, but his plus sides are he has strength, stamina and damaging combos. What the hell is with his Level 1 in the air still sucking.

Casshan I will say Mid B tier because his range on normals are short, mix up game is kind of weak but his plus sides are his combos and taking damage above average, Dog is the shizzness! Also has easy solo combos that can do nearly 40-50% life with baroque on anyone including Alex, this is not including Giants.

Tekkaman Blade I will said Mid A Tier just because his only problem is trying get in on people who know how to push block and grab in his strings but his plus sides are his damage output, good stamina, fairly good mix ups and lethal crossovers.

Morrigan I will say Low A tier because she really does not have that many bad match ups, her health is decent but her main problem is she can not play against keep away characters nor does she have the ability to spam back but her plus sides is her mix up game, nice rush downs and unique air dash. Her assist works pretty much with about any character in the game just like Ryu. Oh cant forget the sexy level 3 Morrigan and Lilith beating the crap out of you.

Saki I will say High B Tier because her close range game is decent, her health is decent, fast characters give her problem so need try to push them away with air combo, beam or standing C but her keep away game is deadly and can be very hard to catch her, she has a decent mix up, amazing command grab which if you whiff has fast recovery, she can rack up damage with her keep away tactics and has good speed plus useful level one supers. Level 3 I would use if you are absolutely winning and want to put them to shame haha.

Grabbing is Amazing now!!! Use it!

@JMoney -
Here are my thoughts on Ippatsuman…TOO LINEAR. He has damaging combos via his loop and a good antiair super, but he falls into the category of “block low to beat me.” I’ve been teaming him up with Jun since CGoH days, and although I do think that he has gotten better, he just isn’t there yet. I played him a bit against Rob today and I couldn’t score a clean hit. He was just too predictable. Ending combos with DP+A and following up with an IAD is one of the most unsafe tactics I’ve ever tried to employ and his block strings can be punished with timely advanced guards. At least he has a decent anti-air super and hits for solid damage when there is an opening.

@Changuillo - WORD!!! At least she can still loop J.Cs (now in the corner!!) and as great pokes.

Now, about Tekkaman Blade. I think the character is a pure gimmick and is not on the same level as Jun/Alex/Zero/Ryu/Morrigan. Yes…he is strong. Yes…he has a great lvl1 punish. Yes…he has a lot of health. However, he is linear and unsafe. Linear characters just aren’t A-tier material in my opinion. What can TBlade do against an opponent that actually understands his block strings? They all eventually ending in a move that is punishable by the entire non-giant cast. His best option is to end with MashA as that makes the string safe against some characters but it actually puts him in a disadvantageous position due to the startup on his moves and dash. Perhaps I’m just outright missing something here, but as of late, TBlade just seems to transparent. As such, I think that he falls in the B-category.

Casshern - he is strong and has a quick overhead with DP+A, but just seems meh to me. Maybe I’m putting too much emphasis on his old stature, but I just don’t see him being outside of B-tier.

Doronjo - she is shit tier. Absolute garbage. I really don’t know why people actually play her. Gutter trash!

Actually Tech, they did come up with the tier list for CGoH, but yeah it’s outdated. Though I wouldn’t expect Arcadia, but rather 2ch.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure my post entailed that.

I’ve heard all about the greatness of Yatterman-1. The problem is I haven’t seen any videos of him doing these consistent god-like things everyone speaks of. If you could link some, I’d be grateful.

BTW people are crazy for putting Jun so high on the tier list. Like Yourmother said, she looks very solid but there are better characters out there.

@ wolfox_okamicha: yeah that’s right TvC UAS didn’t get an arcade release, so Arcadia probably won’t do it. Should of have said 2ch.

BTW Devilchrist, what Tekkaman lvl.1 have you been looking at? That shit does 31K after a air combo. That’s one bar for over 50% on many characters. I would also say you’re oversimplfying a lot of the characters in your post (even though this game isn’t exactly THAT deep).

All I’m saying is I personally think its better to work on expanding the character and info subforums more as this thread doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.

Couldn’t agree more with this statement. All of these character forums are way too focused on huge combos and their damage output. Almost every subforum lacks info on strategies/matchups/mixups/advanced tactics.

This is the best post that I’ve seen all thread. You’re absolutely correct dude. :china::china::china:

Kurasa when we going to play haha. I only played you in casuals last EVO in TvC!!! You also can not forget Tekkaman Blades lethal crossovers.

I’m going to try and make it to all of the bigger events this year, so maybe we’ll run into each other at one of those :D.

As for crossovers, are you talking about his yo-yo thing? If so, I think that its a gimmick. A lot of people just don’t know how to block/punish/beat it yet and get hit a “crossup” that is really just a mind fuck. But that plays into his being a decent character heavily. Mind fucking opponents is a large part of the game and characters that have that ability are just better than characters that don’t.

But yeah, that’s why I call him a gimmick character.

True Tekkaman Blade does not really have too many mix ups which brings him down.
