TVC UAS Tier list speculation thread

I’m curious as to why you (Kurasa) think Alex would be in A-tier. Sure he has ridiculously high damage output and a decent mix-up game but wouldn’t you say his lack of safe moves, not just talking about jump C, would hold him back? Also a huge lack of a pressure game but I will agree his assist is pretty good. Sure you can play Alex defensively and wait for your opponent to make a mistake but having to rely on another player’s mistakes as the only way to land hits seems un-A-tier worthy, to me at least. But then again this is coming from my personal experiences with Alex and from the very few videos we have of (somewhat) tournament level Alex’s.

I would have placed Tekkaman Blade higher. Not because of his yo-yo move or his high damage output but because his pressure game is ridiculous and majority of his moves/combos are safe on block. So basically he can pressure you at no risk and keep on doing it til he lands a hit, then proceed to combo. Other than these characters, your list seems pretty accurate, I’m a little confused about Saki but I basically have too little experience with her to say my opinion. I just realized that Ippatsuman isn’t on your list. Personally, I would put him in at least B-tier just because he’s a really safe character with high damage output (grab super reset) but I guess the same could be said about Polimar except Polimar has a much better mix-up game. I should also note that I do not play online.

No problem Hitage. I ranked Alex highly because he as excellent normals, a good mixup game (2B and 2C are low while 5C is an overhead and TwoBoots crosses up left/right), very high health, very high damage, and the strongest lvl3 in the game. He is also very safe with an assist and has ground mobility equal to the fastest chars.

Scoring a hit is not very hard with him as his blockstrings are good and contain overheads and lows which can be bbq’d for additional confusion. Dash elbow also beats most aerial attacks and leads to very big damage.

I must saw that I too was skeptical at first, but Alex is the truth.

I’m posting from my phone right now so i’ll post my full thoughts on TBlade later.

Yeah, Saki really has a “Strider/Doom effect” in that her potential isn’t really seen without exploiting certain combinations. Saki/Tekkaman and Saki/Ryu are the best teams, imo, but Rock, Frank, and Chun all have serious potential as well. The other thing about Saki is that she’s not very intimidating w/out meter, but w/ meter she’s one of the scariest characters in the game.

I only know about the characters that I tried to learn and used so far.

Tier 1
T. Blade
Soki
Zero

Tier 2
Morrigan
Viewtiful joe

Tier 3
Karas
Gold Lightan

T. Blade - High damage output, lot’s of range on attack’s, better than average health, it’s easy to accurately hit people with his moves. Becomes better with a fireball assist or Tekkaman assist, has a full screen air dash, counter’s giant’s harshly especially Lightan. Has an easy time chasing people with his fast air dash. None of his supers are useless, and they can be combo’d into from the ground and from the air. Build’s meter quickly. Bad part is that his assist isn’t that good.
Soki- Has huge amounts of range that can cause massive damage from a simple non punishing poke 5A. His supers are decent especially good with the right partner. He’s a tank. His Oni form has an infinite, he can heal from absorbing a certain color orb and gain’s super armor like a giant, wave dash helps Oni chase opponents better. 236 + AT can combo into many DHC’s and team supers. He can use Deflect (63214 C) when a laggy normal is blocked to immediately counter the attack, then he can use Chain (M+H) for added damage. Baroque combo’s from Soki can cause around 30k damage on average. His should charge is a pretty good assist. He builds meter decently well. His safe pokes can’t be punished on block. He suffers from not being able to use supers in the air. His air game is kind of weak compared to the rest of the characters.
Zero- Fast attack’s that can protect Zero. His offense is his defense. Has useful cross up moves with his command dash, he is overall fast in every aspect, fast start up attacks, fast cooldown, fast air speed, fast ground speed. He is good at rushdown and keepaway. He can combo from practically anything. Has nice range on attacks. His assist is pretty good for an anti air. His attack power is weak, he can’t take much of a hit, so saving meter for megacrash is important, and so is saving red life for health regen rather than BRQ. He can’t use his supers in the air. His super’s aren’t that good.
Morrigan- She has a great projectile, C version shadow blade can combo into her missle super. It’s easy to land air combo’s into finishers if you have lvl 3. Will edit the rest later.
EDIT: Forget it. I typed the whole summary and it didn’t go through, not going to bother with finishing this.

What about Tekkaman? I think Tekkaman is pretty high on the list because he can pressure well with moves and do great air combos. If you do 2 H Galaxy Windmill air combos after launcher thats about more than half most characters health bar. Tek Win can extend combos. Tekkaman has really strong supers but they are hard to hit. You dont even need to use them really.

I find Tekkaman Blade assist to be useful for Morrigan and crossing up for mix ups. His assist is not total garbage though but I just think no one has really found a good use for it. It works for my Morrigan. I think Tekkaman Blade will be up in the tiers just not how high. Back C is amazing! Morrigan will probably be up there as well since I think from the whole cast she really doesnt suffer too hard from characters. Some can be a little a troublesome for her but she can still get around. As for as a projectile war she is not good at that. A lot of possibilities for characters.

Nyoronoru, you were at Winter Brawl? Who were you? I was the Jun Polimar player with the red beard.

Wtf?

Every move he has except 2A and A-Falchion is wildly unsafe of block. Without an assist, his pressure ends at 2B because the opponent can mash out of his blockstring with 2A (or throw) at that point, and he can’t use Falchion because again, mashing 2A (or a timed throw) beats it. Since he has to use an assist to cover one of these two holes in his pressure, his safe options are very limited and any safe Falchion cross-up will be predictable.

At one point I thought he had a good, safe, ambiguous crossup with an assist, but now I think he can actually be thrown out of it. I would love to find an actual safe mixup for him, but until then, I have to agree that he is not top tier (although I think he is still very good). Really, people just need to learn how to counter the holes in his pressure. (And stop judging him based on online matches. )

Oh hey man! I was the PTX-40A player. You adapted to the giants really well, but I managed to adapt too.

I’ve improved quite a lot since then, if you want to swap friend codes I am up for that.

Can’t really leave out Ippatsuman & Mega Man Volnutt…Mega Man has some pretty good combo extensions off of his weapon change moves and he has dumb versatility, although he’s not a powerhouse. Only people i see going top tier are Ryu, Zero, Tekkaman Blade, Soki, Doronjo, Polymar & Chun-Li

You know who I rarely play against? Yatterman-2.

What’s the thinking behind that? I play Soki, Doronjo, and Polymar and I agree that they are good but are no means on the same level as some other characters like Zero, Y-1, and Jun.

Soki, Doronjo and Polimar are not on the top but they are definitely good characters. I do not know where Morrigan will be on the tier list but she is good but her biggest problem is she can not play against keep away teams. Y-1 is really good so you can expect him to be high on the list. As for giants it comes down to if you really want to beat them just go TBlade/Tekkaman. Kurasa it is a good chance I may be heading to the Midwest tourney!

so guys are zero/alex like god tier?

Marn tore justin apart like he was free :expressionless:

Good shit to marn but that was almost too good

Alex is good, but he isn’t top tier. You can see in some of Marn’s fights that he was struggling when Zero got killed. Alex is like Polymar: once he’s in he’s incredibly dangerous, but if you can play effective keepaway then Alex has almost no way to win.

Alex is good, but not THAT good. He’s a character where you’d have to play perfectly to stand a chance. One little mess up and you’re not going to last very long. (On either side) If you can catch someone they’re pretty close to dead, but that’s the trick is trying to catch someone.

Alex isn’t broken, but his C shoulder rush is. It’s probably one of the most broken moves in this game, that’s why you see Marn constantly use it when he plays as Alex. That shoulder rush move of his (I forgot the correct name for it) has good speed, power, combo ability from a wall bounce, it’s very baroqueable, it has plenty of range. If it wasn’t for that move, Alex would be much worse of a character.

i dont know about that…

are any of marn’s tvc videos up yet?

Alex is no where near Top Tier. He gets zoned like a mofo.
