Karas, Casshern, Polymar, Doronjo, Tekkaman, Mega Man, Batsu,

D:
Gold Lightan

I like your list but i can’t imagine my characters not being top tier, so i changed it around a bit.

All the tier lists you’ll find are heavily opinionated and flawed 'cuz it’s too soon to really say. With that said, this is how I see the characters at the moment, but I don’t have enough experience with or against most of these characters to really say where they place. The only ones I’m confident of are Zero’s, Saki’s, and Chun’s.

s/top-tier
zero, jun, ippatsuman

a/high-tier
y1, chun, ken, ryu, batsu, y2, saki, doronjo

b/upper mid-tier
alex, rock, joe, blade, casshern, karas, polymar, vj, morrigan

c/lower mid-tier
souki, roll, frank, ptx, tekkaman

d/low-tier
lightan

lol at least the three lists agreed in Lightan as bottom

my post wasn’t serious. i just switched marns team with mine in the top tier and added in roll.

At the moment, it is basically like this:
S Tier:
All (except 1)
D Tier:
G.Lightan
Yea seriously I don’t think we’ll have any good tier list before evo

Yeah well youre horrible so grats.

Dunno why people are still putting Roll so low. She’s very fast, has legit mixups and can do 30,000b in the corner without meter, assist or baroque.

I really don’t think Zero is S tier. He doesn’t have much aside from rushdown, which he does frighteningly well in the right hands, but as soon as you do something to keep him from catching you or you start poking holes in him then he just breaks down immediately because he has terrible health. He’s obviously very good, but I think being in the ridiculous tier is overestimating him or cheapening what an S tier is supposed to be.

Ever play CGoH? Everyone used the same argument your making about Karas, but, at the end of the day, Karas was S-tier, and his health was (and still is) lower then Zero’s. Zero has many of the strengths that made Karas great: range, nearly unpushblockable pressure, bar-building corner loops post megacrash, etc. Only difference is that Zero’s range and pressure isn’t as severe as Karas’. However, Zero has much better mobility and mix-up then Karas ever had, and more health. Basically, imo, Zero is a watered down CGoH Karas with more options.

But, the game’s still young. Everyone thought Karas was god in CGoH, then Japan showed us what’s up with Ken… so who knows?

The difference is that Zero doesn’t have a command overhead and he doesn’t do nearly as much easy damage; his loop requires considerable more skill. Also Karas has more range… it’s just that Zero’s moves have insane priority. I would kill to see Zero’s hitboxes visualized because I swear that he knocks off any attack without a worry.

Not to sound like a jerk but it’s completely irrelevant whether I’ve played CGoH or not. This is a different game. And like I said, Zero is obviously very good. There’s no disputing that, but S-tier characters are either unfairly good or outright broken. You can counter a skilled Zero player with most characters and not just select counter-picks.

And like you said, the game is young. Zero could turn out to have some broken aspects or other characters could have certain cheap advantages that Zero does not that affect their match-ups.

I guess you see S-tier as synonymous with god-tier then. I think S-tier is just a way of saying top tier. In SF4 Sagat, Ryu and Akuma are all considered S-tier characters, and they’re all totally beatable (just look at tournament results: a high tier team won SBO and a mid-tier team placed second, and the US circuit’s dominated by a Rufus user, i.e. a high-tier character). When I say Zero’s S-tier I mean that he’s a character with no foreseeable bad match-ups and has a healthy number of advantaged match-ups. Sure, it’s too early to say this definitively, but this is a speculation thread after all.

Suffice to say, I don’t think Zero is like the gods in MvC2 or Chun in 3S or MK in Brawl. I think he’s the best, but totally beatable in a competitive sense, like Sagat in SF4 or Dhalsim/Boxer/O. Sagat/Claw in ST.

I live in a world where the word top tier is synonymous with top tier. Adding letters into the mix is dumb and absolutely unnecessary because exactly what’s happening now happens a million times over and frequently with people less understanding of tiers. Maybe it’s always been this way, I’m admittedly new to fighting games, but multiple tier types is nonsensical.

It’s not that dumb. Usually if a competitive game has characters that are in a “broken” ranking, they’ll use “SS Tier”, or “God Tier”. S Tier is usually reserved for characters who are at the top of the game yet at the same time still completely beatable.

Yeah, I don’t know where that guy is from, but “S-Tier” to me always meant top of the pack. Broken characters are “God Tier” or “SS-Tier”.

Disclaimer about tiers not being at all set yet, only speculation, things might still be discovered, just for discussion purposes, yadda yadda

Bolded characters that I am curious about why you have as high as you do. Underlined ones that I think should be higher.

Frank does big damage but he’s so slow and hard to get in with…kind of similar to Casshern and Polymar. I think the three of them should all be together in mid tier.

Tekkaman is hard to place…by himself, I’d probably put him in C tier, but his assist practically doubles the combo damage output of like every character lol. Mid is probably right for him.

Yatterman 2 has basically no reason to ever not have the robot super out on the screen. It easily lasts long enough to build enough meter to use it again while its going. And it’s just so good at saving her ass.

S-tier imo means absolutely no bad matchups, thats pretty common among all fighting games. A-tier character are still pretty solid, but can have one or more slightly disadvantaged matchups.

That said Blade and Y2 should be S as they both have to necessary tools to fight off every other character without trouble

alex shouldn’t be S but A he can get zoned really easy, with no double air dash.

Someone please explain how Saki is better than both Polymar and Ippatsuman? And don’t just say she can run away.

I have to question that as well. Sure Polymar and Ippatsuman are gonna have trouble approaching, but once they’re in there, Saki is pretty much fucked.
