All this talk about chu’ know JWong taking down folks I’ve yet to see even a crackle of this so called storm coming this way. So has he been playing, and doesn’t want to be recorded because he wants to…“save that shit for nationals” so to say (sarcasm), or just the irony of when he is playing tvc no one has a camera on them? Because I want to see it.
Matter of fact bring all the so far “good” tvc players out the woodworks.
i would like to see some videos of good karas players, I bet a majority of the people who rant about karas being in a league of his own. have not even seen a good karas player much less are one.
I still need to see a video of of a karas doing the infinite in a match. not saying it cant be done, just saying there’s an extreme shortage of videos showing karas as a near unstoppable force.
I saw a ton of matches just the other day that were pretty much “start…Karas rushdown…cornered…eventually he catches you with the infinite.” His low health doesn’t even matter when he can just mega crash any attempt by you to fight back.
This is the real reason we shouldn’t talk about tiers, cuz people get stupid. Every game that comes out people find a character that’s good and go on SRK and say “OMG HE’S UNSTOPPABLE I HAD LIEK A 50 WIN STREAK AGAINST MY DUMBASS FRIENDS.” I’ve beaten plenty of good Karas players here in Japan. It’s not fun, but it’s possible. He’s fucking good but seriously, shut up.
I come in here just stating my speculation, what’s wrong with that =(. Isn’t this to discuss what people think about the tiers? It’s not my fault someone was stupid enough to make a tier thread T_T;.
Wah time to discuss tiers wah someone says something you dont agree with wah needs to close tier thread.
Yeah “if you don’t think karas is a god, quit” isn’t talking about your opinions on tiers, stop trying to turn this thread into another big Karas circle-jerk.
Of course like we said this thread is just speculation. Not let’s get things outta hand.
Top Tier:
Chun-She has everything. Good assist, good rushdown, okay defense, godly combos, practical infinites,
Karas-Best Zoning and punish in the game…but bitch like defense balances him out. Don’t drop the soap. ggpo Karas.
Ken the Eagle: Very flexible, and great mix-ups. Decent damage. I actually want to put him over Karas. Extremely solid.
Cash-Earned: Best assist imo, high defense, rapes giants, Friender mix-up, and his BBQ combos are on league with Tekkaman’s BBQs in dmg potential. Level 3 at low health is just stupid it’s like 65% of the opponents life.
Upper Tier:
Ryu- Ryu I can’t stand seeing him played. So boring. But what can I say he’s better than he ever was. Joudan Kick combos are gruesome. Shinkuu Hados are pretty damn quick, and has a lot of priority on his attacks. Great assist character also.
Polymar- B&B’s are one of the best in the game, and his assist is top 3 imo. No real damage scaling on his grab super.
Tekkaman- Tekkaman’s BBQ combos can change the whole tide of a match, and can take out one character with one false move depending on the situation.
Saki- Mad potential. Hits hard, very good keepaway, and has good synergy with most characters.
Yatterman- Yatterman is a wild card in my book. Super has nice OTG, amazing zoning, mad quick, level 3 doesn’t suffer from damage scaling, and only bad thing he has horrible defense. Last time I’ll say it. Don’t sleep on him.
Mid Tier:
Batsu
Morrigan
Ippatsuman
Doronjo
Souki
Rock
Daimao
Roll
What’s the main reason for people putting Batsu so low? I find him to be a great alternative to Ryu. (since I loathe Ryu) He’s very strong and his level 3 deals horrendous damage, especially if your partner is down. He’s pretty versatile too.
SON OF A– finally Yattaman gets some attention in tier discussion. And here I am on the Yattaman board saying we gotta do something cause he’s totally being dumped to low tier without anyone speaking out or anything.
His defense is only as bad as MegaMan’s, which isn’t so bad, really. I gotta put some more back into my game with him, to see if I can turn some tides.
Yeah, let’s have some Yattaman speculation, for a change.
Marn - Watch how much of your famous ‘charm’ you use in this section of the forums. A nice discussion about the your speculation on the tiers is great, but adding that people are total shit and should quit if they dont agree with you is not only unneccessary, but it will get your lovely posts edited/deleted/infracted nice and quick. Consider yourself warned. Try being nice, eh?
Oh Batsu is too good don’t get me wrong. The other characters above him seem to be a lot more vicious if in the right hands. Maybe I’m wrong. He just ain’t low risk/high rewards to me right now.
Plus Eagle Ken seems to give him a bad match-up imo.
Interesting list. I’m not going to shoot off my mouth about roll anymore but I will say a couple things about your list otherwise.
First, I feel like I agree with you about Ken. He seems like he could be good, like he as a really high ceiling for the stuff he could do, but I just haven’t seen it out of anybody yet. I think he could be good, but I’m holding off making him top tier until I see some really solid stuff out of some people.
However much I hate to say it because I play him, I’d have to put Casshern lower than that. His main damage comes from his combos, but it’s really hard to get in for them. His attacks aren’t particularly fast, he has nowhere near the range of, say, tekkaman, and he doesn’t really have any good approaches from the air. I really want to hit more of his combos, but I end up hitting most of my damage off of friender stuff > knockdown in one way or another> super.
Polymar is another one who seems to have some problems approaching, but I don’t really play him that much so I won’t judge.
Yatterman’s another one like Ken where I feel like he could do some good things but I haven’t really seen them yet, we’ll see I guess.
Tekkaman, this one’s solid, I really feel like he could even go up in the rankings. Here in Japan he’s pretty sick. You can play him with actually a pretty high degree of safety just jumping around and covering his laggy moves with an assist. One of the reasons he’s getting picked a lot too is because he is probably the best counterpick for Karas. He can take a lot of punishment from Karas before going down, he has range on him, and he stays in the air a lot with his j.C which messes up Karas players. I dunno why the US seems to be kind of down on him sometimes.
Doronjo is another one that’s huge in Japan and not in the US. The people over here can do some crazy stuff with her, not only weird looking combos, but some kinda traps with the henchmen that you don’t even realize. Also, they spam the hell out of that boulder super whenever you hit the ground. It’s probably one of the best supers in the game because it means a free combo unless you can block a high/low mixup while totally blind. Put it in a team-up super with a high damage character and you’ve got some serious hurt headed your way 9 times out of 10.
Good to see someone not sleeping on tekkaman. Just stay in the air with him, use assists to cover his recovery and he’s awesome. Retarded damage, great cross ups, and probably the best air moves in the game.
Thanks for the reply. And about Roll I think she will be a very good character in the near future. Her iad actually scares me, and she has some crazy shit so I’m not sleeping on her either. Honestly my list is kind of fuddy duddy in some areas. Maybe she should be higher than Soki, Daimao, and Rock…? Well at least Souki and Rock. Daimao is a mystery. I have’t seen anything of him at all.
I know one thing I have my teams ready for the tourney coming up soon.
Tekkaman (point)/Ippatsuman and Casshern/Yatterman.
Because 90% of the people who are posting here have no idea what they’re talking about. They think a few minutes in training mode with each character and watching a few videos is a good way to determine tiers. It took months for the Brawl tier list to come out after many many MANY tournaments and we’re still changing things. It’s been…about one month and suddenly everyone knows TvC like the back of their hand.
… There is some truth to what a lot of you guys are saying though, don’t get me wrong. But a lot of these “lower” characters that are being ignored will surprise the shit out of you when tournaments come around.
The next big tournament to look forward to is Winter Brawl in PA. I’ll be going to that one.
It’s laughable that you guys are discussing tiers without videos for reference really…it’s a MUST. You have to show what the character is capable of, you cannot fathom it in your own mind. The way you play with a certain character (as godly as you may think you are) might not be the best way to play them. So there’s simply a lot of empty claims being thrown around.
Still there’s no denying Karas is godly though. More Karas meatriding
Shows just how simple Karas can be sometimes. Don’t say the Karas sucks either (although he is kinda…sloppy) because you guys know you all do the same dam thing. Karas has no good IAD so everyone basically pokes with 2a and tries to “mix” it up until they get a clean hit to continue with.
