Yeah, the Giants are selectable in the arcade. There’s no reason why they should be banned at all.
As for the other 4, a few people reported that there was a way to play them in the arcade if you brought a Wiimote, but I’ve yet to see any sort of confirmation of that.
banning console characters made sense like 8 years ago when we still had arcades
now america has what, maybe 4 tvc machines? console is now the overwhelming majority, and we should just make console stuff the standard. for 99.9% of us arcade tvc might as well not exist
in short, it doesn’t make sense to ban “console only” characters
Yeah, there is zero reason to consider any character ban at this point. Even if, by some extremely unlikely chance, SBO bans giants, that doesnt mean we will. ‘Console’ characters too. You want something banned, start winning tournaments with it. Thats how it works. Show it off and give people a chance to fight it.
in a match for a yatter-yatter matchup you would only toss the coin once at the start of the match correct. or is it each round when 2 players wish to select yatter?
After talking to other players and thinking about it. I agree that no1 should be banned until proven otherwise. However in the tournaments over here if you glitch with V.Joe then you lose that match because glitches are not allowed.
While I agree, as thats why my proposed rules say …

-Performing any glitch that keeps the game from being played is banned. Its pretty obvious what these are. Most of them thus far make a rainbow character fly away to the moon! If you do one of these on purpose or on accident and cant recover from it quickly, you forfeit the round./

Remember, its not ‘glitches’ that are banned. Using glitches is fine, so long as they do not stop the game from being played. (Like the juggernaut powerup glitch in marvel 2)
you can’t straight up ban “glitches”, it keeps cool shit from being discovered
if something is outright game-breaking or it gives you an opportunity to stall then it’s bannable
imagine where competitive smash would be if every “glitch” were banned, it’d be boring as hell lol
I think its a stupid price to pay for a mistake (that likely wont happen) and can be instantly undone. So whats it going to be? This is a standard TVC rule?
Whether an instant loss is too harsh or not, the Viewtiful Joe V.A.R. glitch is easy to avoid, just don’t whiff a V.A.R. after the bounce from Red Hot Kick…
What are people thinking will be the judgment on some of the more accidental glitches that will actually “freeze” the game, ie. Megaman getting blown up during his Machine Gun super (by either Joe or Doronjo’s bombs) and Casshern’s similar glitch with Friender.
I can see it’d be an easy call if someone intentionally set up the Megaman glitch with their own assist, but what if it just happens mid match; same for the Casshern glitch? Technically both players would have contributed to triggering it, so who’s at fault? Should you just have to replay the match?
I think that tournaments should have one wii system and two wiimotes. Sync them with the red button (both on the Wii system and on the and the wiimote) and they will never pick up any other signal besides the one sync (assigned) to them. The only issue is that people have to look after the wiimotes because they are easy to steal or get lost (attach them to the wii :s?). However another issue is the batteries. Make a rule for every player to bring their own set (it could be regular AA, Nyko batteries, or similar) Please dont ban wii motes I use a hori wii stick.
I don’t think they Joe glitch should be an instant loss. Since pressuring with a voomerang right after a red hot kick is possible and viable, a simple execution mistake (accidentally hitting p instead of ab or c) could cost you the match? If you don’t mash out as soon as it happens you can bust his ass anyway.
If Casshern calls the dog when he’s dying, don’t pushblock the dog. You have to eat the chip or hop over if possible. If you pushblock the dog, loss.
If the Megaman glitch occurs because the Megaman player has Joe and eats the bomb, loss for the player. If it occurs because the opponent has Joe, replay the match. The only issue here would be a situation like if the Joe player thought Megaman wanted to chip him to death so the Joe player drops a bomb and voomerangs it across the stage in attempt to replay the match. I don’t think this would happen really ever though, because bomb+voomerang is slowwww compared to Megaman’s super, but I don’t know if Megaman’s super is low enough to hit the bomb. This is fucked up.
A friend and I also froze the game, albeit it was the end of the match, but I activated a Tekkaman dp super + Saki duo, his Batsu (who had basically no health) activated super immediately after, everything looked like it hit…game crashed. Results of glitches like this I think should be determined from discretion, ie Batsu was full screen and his fireball super doesn’t reach full screen, two supers activated and he had no health and couldn’t block, etc.
Random question…how do you “re-roll” the stage if the fire stage comes up? Doesn’t the game go to character select the moment you hit the button at the handicap/stage select screen?
