TvC [ Netcode Feedback ] Thread

All of my matches so far have been unplayable.I’ve seen worse but this is still not good enough.

My random domestic matches have been slightly jittery at points so far, but quite playable. Wireless, router and wii in the same room(changing my wire setup and moving the router closer seemed to help some), DMZ enabled, etc.

Pretty much this. I don’t know how people are managing to bust out BnBs for their characters when I can’t even hit confirm anything after a jab.

about 30-50% of the matches where unplayable
the rest was playable but too laggy to be even remotely the same experience as offline

The Wii doesnt even support 802.11n standard seriously dont frekin bother with wireless it will be shit. Get an ethernet adaptor you’re wasting your time with wireless.

The online is not awful with a LAN adapter at least in my case. I think I have had one player where I could not combo due to lag. I just started this game, but if I can still pull off 5A, 5B, 5C, 6C, Oni, 5A, 5B, 5C, 6C, 22C, BRQ, 5A, 5B, 5C, 6C, 623A, 5B, 3C, jABC as Souki in an online match then I think the TVC netcode is not Brawl quality.

I would definitely suggest getting a LAN adapter to anyone who’s on the fence. It’s only $20 or so and it has definitely improved my connection compared to yesterday on wireless. I did the port forwarding business but today my Wii has a different IP for some reason  Even so with the LAN adapter my playable matches are significantly higher than yesterday.

I guess I’ll go grab a LAN adapter tomorrow… I’ve seen very few playable matches. Online TVC =/= real TVC.

ugh just played some scrub in the top 10 that quit as I killed them. Guy going by the name of Masters. Doesn’t he post here as well? He was pretty bad so he must be so high just because of the rage quits.

Give your Wii a static IP instead of relying on your router’s DHCP auto-assignment.

I am using the lan adapter, have ports forwarded, and DMZ’ed my Wii. From my brief experience online, I had a couple of matches that were very good (but not perfect), and some that were absolutely horrible. So about 50/50. However I think my play habits probably influence those results quite a bit: I live on the East Coast and tend to play very late (2-4am), so I am probably getting paired up with players on the West so naturally my connection is going to suffer more.

My network gear is pretty shoddy as well. I should have a new modem and router coming in next week, so hopefully that will help improve the online gaming.

OK, I’ve had some issues with this. I played about six or seven matches, each of which had at least three full seconds of input delay. Also, the game itself was running terribly slowly; it took about ten seconds for the timer to go down one second. Also, I’ve had about 3 people DC and, even though I’m wired and adjacent to my router, I was somehow kicked off of the Nintendo WFC a few times as well. That definitely isn’t my opponent’s fault.

What’s the deal? I use the same setup for the 360, and although it isn’t amazing, I can have lagless matches with people with good enough connections. I don’t know if this is port-forward related, but if it is, I can’t do anything about it. :frowning:

I will try that, I guess I do that in Wii settings somewhere? I’ll test it out after work.

Anyone know the technical reason why you would need to bother with DMZ or port forwarding? Would it be like some kind of security built into your modem or router or something? I’ve got a rather old speedstream modem/router thing, and don’t know if it’s even necessary – but if it can improve my connection i might as well try.

Your router’s built in security/firewall. By default, routers block a lot of stuff. You basically have to tell it not to. Otherwise you will have issues connecting to other players due to your router.

I got this nice lan adapter and i tested my connection via wii settings giving me the green light
however when i go into the game and then connect it gives me this unable to connect with this error code then the CD stops spinning…

anyone know whats up with that?

Even when I play locally there’s such a large amount of delay that I find it unplayable. Will be keeping this one for offline play.

The next time it happens, write down the error code. Nintendo’s website has a database for the meanings behind the error codes:

http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/errors/index.jsp

Other than a very few number of hiccups, everything’s pretty peachy. I’m using an adapter.

I’m using wireless and it was horrible at first. But once I got DMZ and port forwarding going, thing improved dramatically. Too bad I suck at the game lol.

I have used both Ethernet and wireless and I notice no difference. Even with the same opponent, who lives 2 miles away from me, the differences were negligible at best.

So far, I rate this online pretty poor, but okay for mashers.

i found out it has to do with the cIOS i have since my wii is softmodded
