I’m starting to get really annoyed with players who take advantage of online’s lag and spam the same attacks over and over again. Tekkaman Blade players are the worst of the bunch. Try to go in close and they just spam the lance and go right into Crash Intrude. Try to keep distance and they just use the long range grab.
I’m at the point now where i’m saying “fuck ranked, ultra champ is good enough.”
I’m not using an adaptor. Most matches are playable, with just a little imput delay. Nothing I can’t get used to.
What I find unacceptable is allowing people who use the Wiimote controls to play online with everyone else. It’s very easy to tell when a Zero can spam his fireball, or when there’s a conspicuous lack of air combos in a player’s game. It’s (almost) infuriating, especially when I consider that I spent money on a stick for this game, as well as Sanwa parts for it.
After playing online TVC on and off for a month,I can definitely say it’s more than playable.About 50% of the matches I’ve played have had noticeable lag but playable enough to bust out the odd combo.30% of the matches I have played though have been great,as good as a decent game of SF4,it’s not perfect but I can do nearly all the things I want to,when I want to.Only about 20% of the matches I played in the last month have been unplayable(1-2 second input lag).
Some tips for the best online experience:
Playing with friends helps alot.
Ranked seems to have the most players.
One thing I hate about the online community though is that when you do find someone with a good connection and you happen to beat them, they just quit out of anger even though it was a good non laggy game.I think half the time though this is a product of the fact that the rematch option rests the cursor on the option “no” to having a rematch. So after a match and you just start mashing A to get going to next one,you end up pressing “Do you want to rematch?>NO”.I’ve done this numerous times when I wanted to rematch someone who I had a non laggy game with, and it makes me look like a dick for not playing with the person.
Not that bad. I just got a Mayflash Wii LAN Adapter, and many of my matches are quite playable. I’ve even been to do the Ippatsuman loops and my long Polimar combos.
I agree for the most part, except i seem to get more frequent laggy matches, and when searching for Domestic games i have to wait 20min + frequently… doesnt anyone in Canada play? shit…
regarding matches with near perfect lag + beginner lvl opponents i find myself in the exact same predicament… and now i just want to sandbag them or let them win sometimes so that they dont abandon me to the lag hell abyss
I got my adaptor at Best Buy, and for some reason it always gives me 3/4 second lag no matter what game I play. DMZ does help though.
EDIT: I recently used the “OpenDNS” address on my Wii, and that made a big difference. It chops off at least .02-.03 seconds off your input lag, depending on who you play againist.
TVC online is way too inconsistent. One battle you’re playing againist a competent players with no lag and very little input delay. The next battle you’re playing againist some wiimote noob with a full second of button lag. Unless you’re Nicolas Cage and can see stuff two minutes into the future, it’s almost impossible to win a match like that, especially in certain matchups.
Besides BT3, TVC is the only other online fighting game where your winning and losing rate is heavily affected by the other player’s connection.
