In retrospect, my frantic attemps to dash backwards and use Doronjo’s air version of the rock throw sort of runs along those inputs. I was thinking that there were “critical dashes” (or something) in the game. I’ll definelty be practicing this technique now that I know its possible.
how much potential does this glitch/exploit have to drastically improve certain characters? I feel like if PTX can do it, it would make him much more scary than some people claim he is right now.
FYI, this works for Zero’s back dash, but not his forward dash. I’m guessing the latter doesn’t work because it can be sustained indefinitely and therefore doesn’t cancel into other stuff like normal dashes do.
People who benifit the most from this so far in this scrubs personal experience:
Karas>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Everyone else.
Maybe not literally but the ability to basically cover a screen length and be damn near impossible to hit for almost all of it is looking very very nice, and i don’t even like or want to play karas. Hell i spent my last match just screwing around with crossups from 3/4ths a screen away. Call ryu, wavedash, 2a/j.a. Cross up and low high potentail! Hell i’m currently trying to see if he can actually fullscreen punish a ryu fireball on reaction. I think the answers yes but throwing a wavedash on the classic while using my other hand to have to have ryu throw fireballs(thank god for the wiimote shortcuts) isn’t exactly easy. Either way looks like karas lost an infinite and gained the ability to always be within poking range.
Also i’m working on trying to get this into a cassh combo i’ve been working on which i thought impossible before due to the distance he covers. It may still not work but there’s a chance this is going to open up some even nastier stuff for quite a few members of the cast. Either way i can’t see this not being a required skill.
Actually now that i think about it, does this go in the keits basic tutorial as well, or will you be making an advanced tactic one along with the character specific stuff? Or just leave it to be touched upon character by character.
So this is super easy with Soki. I guess the longer a person’s jump startup, the more time you have to do it. I’m hitting it 100% with him where as polimar it’s a bit harder.
I like being able to smurv with polimar though, really helps get inside. I think delaying the 9 a little helps for me… maybe it will help others.
wavedash is a general blanket term for techs that allow faster/farther/more efficient horizontal movement in a lot of existing games: tekken, smash, marvel series. the ‘wave’ part comes from the characters typically doing some sort of up/down motion while the wavedash is being performed. yes, i’m aware that there is no up/down motion in tvc’s version of wavedash
calling this something else is just going to confuse other people, and do us all a disservice by forcing us all to repeated explain what you mean “smurving”. you say wavedash and a large portion of the existing FGC will just get it; they won’t know exactly how it’s done, but they know that you meant some sort of movement tech was the result of the speed boost
In that case “double dash” or “super dash” would win. Wavedash would still need explaining to some (not to as many as smurving, but still), but double dash/super dash is very self-explanatory :wgrin:
That’s dependent on how much each of those characters are reliant upon keepaway tactics and how much the lack of super-dash limits their ability to approach.
Good find OP. Wow what is with all the tier talk lately? I wish keits would have closed that retarded speculation thread when it was made, there have been NO large nor consistent tourneys for this shit and people are screaming the word tier all around this sub forum. No this discovery does not put a damper on how good those characters are or how good there tools are. Morrigan is already super mobile and controls space well, same thing with Tekkaman Blade he controls space really well and is aso very mobile. Everybody needs to stop there blood clot crying and play the fucking game. Also wave dashing has existed in every versus game thus far so really its no surprise that its in YET ANOTHER versus game (not to discredit the OP any at all this is a really good find in helping the game develop) so get off the retarded shit its called wave dash damn it.
