TvC Ground Dash Glitch (vid)

Oh hey, that’s not too shabby. The input reported for me when doing this is 66698.

I never said it wasn’t fun or made any claims about overall balance, but if it’s a glitch, it’s a glitch, and thus there’s a possibility of it being patched, regardless of what we think of it, correct?

Also, is keepaway actually looking too strong in UAS? I am rather worried if this may skew balance, though I am not in a position to have a real opinion.

i’ll bet my house it doesnt get patched, i dont know of any wii games getting patched and even if they did i doubt they would

Following up on this:

The best timing for the 69 of this input seems to be right when your character starts to slow down from the first dash. It effectively cancels out the deceleration period of the first dash and goes straight into the acceleration for the second.

EDIT: +1 for Smurving.

if i found this i wouldnt have told a soul.

If I didn’t post it, the next guy who found out would’ve.

Also, I wouldn’t be able to even use it. And then some other dude would’ve found it and I’d be telling my friends “I found that in February” and they’d be all “Yeah sure” and I’d get sadface.

10 chars

I did it a few times and my input came out as 66693
I think super dash is a good name, wavedash in all of the games I know it to be in (Tekken,Marvel, Smash) have your character returning to neutral (state, not joystick direction), I don’t think that’s happening here.

I just preferred Smurving since I wouldn’t have to deal with Smash-tards saying we stole their move… even if they stole the term from Marvel.

But oh well, the Purple One has spoken, and thus it was so.

Seriously guys, all you need for this to work is 669. Anything else might help you with your timing, but the only necessary inputs are 6,6,9, returning to neutral after each input.

I dunno about those dashing tiers. Pretty sure Polimar’s is faster than Ryu’s.

But yeah, I think it’s going to be all guesstimations. No one knows yet exactly how many frames you have to wait until the JC, or how useful it’s going to be for each character. Plus the timing for each character feels slightly different and a lot of their wavedashes look about the same speed.

Edit:
Some other posts happened while I was Quick Replying. Who cares if the Smash players think we stole the name? It was in Marvel. Also, dori brings up a good point about Super Dash. Wavedashes in the other games did return you to neutral. At best from this glitch you can just jump out of the second dash again, or hit a normal. But you’re not at neutral.

I dunno, whatever the general people decide on is fine with me. Everyone’s gonna call it something different to start with, and a general name with normalize over the next few days and we’ll just call it that. I’m already preparing myself to hear Smurving and Jimmydash at the next NC tournament, regardless of the outcome.

And what do you mean 669? Like, the 66 is the dash and then the 9 causes the second dash? Is that what the input display is showing you? I’m having to do 6696 at the least. I don’t think the game would let the second 6 of the first dash also count as the first 6 of the second dash as well as having 9 then count as both the jump cancel and the second input for the second dash. Seems like a lot of stuff happening for only 3 directions, but I could very easily be wrong.

This happened to me a couple times, it still worked but I realized that I was pushing down ever so slightly on the 6. Do you use a dpad?
But anyways, I think that it still works because the 3 is fulfilling the need for it to end in a forward in order to keep your character grounded.

You could also go to 6 instead of 5 after 9. I think that they both keep the character grounded and 6 also might be a faster transition.

You’re right, my mistake. I didn’t realize it was so fast in respect to the other characters.

Hmm. I didn’t think going from 9 to 5 would have the same effect as 9 to 6. That doesn’t make any sense to me. But if it works then this shit just got a lot easier to process for a lot of people.

I just tried it and it works, but on a dpad its faster to do 656596 and have 6 as the anchor than reverting back to 5 from 9.
What I do is barely hold the 6 towards the 8 so that it registers it as a 9 and after I input it and just go extremely quickly to 6.
Its faster for me at least.
(keep in mind i’m on the gc dpad)

I guess the input for super dash is officially 656596 or 656595?

656569 and 656596 both work for me, and I find the former to be easier. Seems that it works as long as the second dash just has one diagonal-forward direction in it.

669 worked just fine for me on the MadCatz stick. Goddamn Polimar is a mobile dude, now. This should be fun. BBQ sammiches for everyone! :badboy:

Good shit on the find Jimmy, you just made Polimar that much better.

I vote for Smurving!

i cant believe there’s 4 pages of arguing what to call this

there has to be a ton of smash players in here

and yes, 669 makes this super easy. i get it pretty much 100% depending on the char (it’s harder with alex)

also, everybody but alex (and morrigan, blade and lightan of course) can hit a fullscreen 5A using the technique

Didn’t the original game have this? Also, didn’t MvC2 have this? I recall seeing Doom dash repeatedly.
