I have a TvC wii stick and a paewang pcb. I initially bought paewang for ps3 & 360 but i do have a wii and maybe i may want it for the future so i was wondering if anyone’s done triple mod using TvC wii pcb and paewang?
Is this possible using one cable? What are my options?
Can I do TvC pcb + imp + paewang and use select button to choose between TvC and paewang? Then Turbo for xbox or ps3 on paewang? And use Neutrik RJ45 for usb and wii/gc cables? Sorry i’m pretty new at this.
I don’t really need wii support that much so if it’s too cumbersome, i’ll just stick with paewang only.
I am not too sure, but I believe that the TvC is not common ground, so you cannot dual mod it.
To use a Neutrik RJ-45 you need to either use it with an MC Cthulhu or a “Kitty” series PCB from Godlike controls, or maybe the Upcoming PS360+ that was supposed to come out years ago.
Why do you need an Imp to switch between wii and paewang?
The imp is designed to switch between two different signals like D+ and D- found on usbs and route them to the same end cable, meaning that they have to use at the very least the same cable
The wii uses 5 wires instead of the 4 needed for usb as well as use a different style cable compared to the USB (although i’m sure that you know this)
What you can do is have a detachable solution using an ethernet neutrik jack and make a custom cable harness for wii and PS3/Xbox.
What I’m trying to say is you don’t need an imp at all.
You can do everything from the neutrik perspective.
You have 8 pins that you have available to you off an RJ45 jack.
2 of those pins are reserved for power and ground which is routed and joined between both boards.
2 of those pins are reserved for the data transfer wires (D+ and D-) paewang’s usb cable
3 of those pins are reserved for the Wii’s cable
Also I do not like it when the term term triple modding is used. You are only joining two boards together, not 3…
I understand that you mean you want it to work on 3 consoles, but its just a minor pet peeve of mine.
edit: rtdzign, i’m pretty sure the TVC is common ground though, I’ve done an xbox pad + tvc stick mod before
My first try at modding was also a ‘triple mod’ with the tvc pcb, mayflash pc/ps3, and wwe brawlpad. One thing I learned is that the original home/turbo buttons are a huge pain to get at. Very ugly mod, but I used a switch to toggle between systems and kept the wii cable tucked in the case should I ever want to use wii (don’t own one so I don’t think I ever will)
I tested every spot on the pcb for it, and the only spots are right under the physical buttons. I had to solder directly onto the area under the rubber contacts. It was a iffy fit and I’d assume a constant risk of dislodging. Need to be careful when using those buttons.
If I were to do it over, I’d cover up that panel and replace start, select, home, turbo with 24mm’s
The TvC PCB is not fully common-ground (only the Turbo button has its own ground), the rest of the buttons (including HOME) has a common ground. Drill a hole for an extra button that you will connect to the Paewang Turbo button and you’re good to go. There’s a TvC modded stick of mine in “Check out my arcade stick”, works for Xbox360, PS2 Wii and PC. Good luck for finding it though.
Just checked the connection with a multimeter. I found the spot for turbo connection which looks like it’s covered by black gunk on yours. It’s underneath the left black gunk just above the second left circular spot.
Maybe they changed the board but both Home and Turbo are connected to the same ground for me. Also i see that VCC line on the wii board is 3.2V. Isn’t USB 5V? Would that be a problem?
Have you done it on a TE before? Where’s a good spot for it? Or do you just use the select button spot? I can do everything else, just don’t know how to drill a hole.
Toodles sudgested using a Neutrik to replace the Select button when using in combination with a Kitty TE.
I stuck a Neutrik in the inside of the cable storage compartment (tight fit)
