for one, thats one of the reasons why watson posted in the first place, cuz tfgm is supposedly saying watson would bring a gun to mwc. anyone that knows watson will tell you, he will not do that. thats just absolute insanity to even believe that. hes not pychotic, a criminal or homicidal, especially over some gaming shit. he just has pride about his game, thats all. and sometimes he needs to give some of the newer generation some words to know their role.
fact is, watson has been around for a very long time, and has been a staple in sf history, hes never been known to bring a gun or any stupid shit like that. it’s stupid, and people fault him for some false accusation like that. yeah he talks shit, its part of the game, and he doesnt liked to get bagged on, or accused of some insane bullshit. no one does, its a reaction…

Wilson ran 3rd Strike tourneys back when it wasn’t cool to run them. He ran several tournaments at The Plant, GamezoneX, UCLA, and in Phoenix. Of course, this was when FFA had shitty controls, and wasn’t running any tourneys. For years during the 3rd Strike ‘drought’ (pre-evo) he was still putting together events and helping keep the scene alive. Most of the non-golfland SF events in southern california were put together by him. Sometimes he did this using his own arcade cabinets because he was always making sure that the controls were in tip-top shape.
So, what has Wilson done for me personally? Well, in 2002, he was bringing together 3rd Strike competition and gave me opportunities to play against a wider variety of people rather than just my friends at home.
But since you say ‘other than running tournaments and keeping the scene vital and alive, what have wilson and watson done for me?’
During tournaments watson has always shown me better ways to play, and has been open and honest about good advice to bring the level of my gameplay up. Not just with me, but with everyone that puts a quarter in the machine. Also, he bought me lunch because he’s cool like that.
As for the Empire, they haven’t done anything for me.
