Yout hondas way better than mine though. Hopefully we can get ae by.january
Hey guys.
I’m from Yakima but I go to school at the University of Montana in Missoula.
We over here in Missoula are looking for potential 5v5 opponents. You guys interested?
It would probably have to be after winter break but I’m still poking around different threads to see what is up.
Dayum Montana? Never been there ever. That’d be cool though. Always fun to go out to new places. World Warrior style.
Been playing around with my PVR, thought I would share some old replays I have saved.
I’ll start off with some stuff from back in my scrubby pad ken days. I’m almost embarrassed to say that it was me.

This is really early in my SSF4 career. I didn’t understand the power and usefulness of normals back then, so I generally only used jump-ins, random dp’s, sweeps, fireballs, and more sweeps. Just a random cody.

Here is a video I saved because it had an awesome finish. I had been waiting for a time to pull that off in play, and it couldn’t have been any sweeter than that.

I was doing ranked quick matches all night, and ran into this guy twice before. I won the first match, then he beat me in the second match. The third match was pretty fun because we had gotten a feel for each other and there were some pretty funny throw wars going on in the first round. Also a nice finish, the only other time I pulled it off in ranked play, so I saved it.

I remember saving this replay because of how ridiculously dumb I felt playing this guy. I wasn’t even salty, just dumbstruck at how utterly useless I felt in that match. It was extremely obvious he was leagues ahead of me, and the only reason I did ok in round one is because of scrub tactics like mashing dps and ultras. I had never before seen Chun used like that. I had never thought of Chun as a good character period. I never forgot this match, and when I was deciding who should be my new main character, this replay was sitting in the back of my head, and inspired me to try her out. Well, obviously I fell in love with her, because she is all I use anymore. BTW, Arcjo is now currently ranked 25th of all Chun players on PSN.

This was in my early Chun days. I still didn’t have a good grasp on her normals or overall general gameplan in a fight. Somehow I totally lucked out against this guy who was obviously better than me, which is apparent in round one. After that, all I have to say is taunt backdash sweep FTMFW in round 2!

This match was in endless battle against Mike. I saved it because after the match Mike sent a message saying thats exactly how Chun should be used against Dudley, and I’ve studied it a bit to see what I did right, and tried to duplicate it in later matches with some success. Suffice to say, Mike still has an overwhelming win ratio against my Chun with Dudley, but I feel more confident in the match-up now.
I have two more vids I wanted to share, but not enough time to load them tonight. I’ll get around to it later. Hope you guys enjoy.
Nice vids man. Definitely see your improvements.
NSB TV 101208, NSB TV nsb_sf4 on USTREAM. Video Game Marathon
I was watching this last night. Haneyama (Cats Eye)'s Chun is sooo damn good. Good study material for you Kalvin. Starts at 46 min mark.
nice vids kalvin. that first vid is nothing like how you play now. wow makes me think i can improve so much. anyway they look good and your equipment seems to be good for game vids. keep up the good work man.
Thanks for the compliments guys! I’m always working on improving my game. I’m starting to get a lot more comfortable with some of Chun’s tricks too, so expect some good tomfoolery next time we play.
And damn. That Haneyama is beast. Viper is considered 6-4 against Chun too, but he made that look easy!
So I know Christmas is a whole get with your family day but that’s usually during the daytime isn’t it? I’m sure everyone has this day off somehow so who’s down for some Christmas throwdown later that night?
Im down not much family and im just going to he with my wife so sounds good. I get acouple days off so that means all nighter maybe?
Christmas is usually rough for me because I’m on a swing schedule and it pretty much demands the opposite of that. That said, I still want to make this. I’m about ready for a record session if you guys are ok with it. Just an option, and I believe it will help our game skill progression as a group move forward significantly if we can analyze our matches. Between now and then I will also be buying some video editing software and practicing up with it. As for hosting details, whoever has a plan, get in contact with me as soon as possible so we can make this happen as badass as possible. I have a few ideas brewing to make it fun for Christmas.
I cant host, my place is super small but i can help with stuff like a playstaton or food, so lets start planing this.
I’ve talked to David earlier and he said he’s probably down. I just gotta get a hold of him earlier. So we might be playing at the back of the store again. I’ll have to give you directions Frankie since I don’t think you’ve been there yet.
Alright sounds good. Maybe we can play some other games to like marvel2 and third strike. Anyway i just seen nec finals justin wong vs wolfkrone, man thats a bad ass viper.
Wolfkrone is sick. I still don’t get how you play Viper on a pad tho. AE comes out today in Japan land! Gonna be fiendin for vids the next 5 hrs.
Oh and if we can get something going on christmas day you guys wanna run a ranking battle? Just for the fun of it. Then we can try to have one once a month to see where everyone’s at and where we can all improve.
Sure I’m just fiending for some matches and I’ve wanted to play third strike. Been watching some ae vids makoto looks strong!
How does the ranking battle work? I’ve never done anything like that before. AE does look pretty good. Any idea when the console release is coming?
I haven’t found anywhere that mentions what changes they made to chun…
Sorry kalvin Havent seen anything on chun. Not really sure how.the ranking would work either but it sounds.interesting. hopefully ae is out soon. So how has your game been kalvin? Ive been working a lot but ive tried to play as much as i can. Got some new links down and am no longer mashing like crazy. Cant wait to c how everyone has improved.
I’m in the same boat. Working like crazy, so I don’t get much time to play. I’m still getting in some good practice though. Working on links and a few other tricks. Going to try to start adding some basic option selects and frame traps to my play too. Had a session with tj a few days ago, pretty much walked all over him.
Good to hear your makoto is improving too. Can’t wait to see for myself. How are you doing since you switched to stick?
Ranking battles works on a point system that add up through a whole “season” of tournaments. It’s like racing points (Mario Kart) where if you get 1st you get a bunch of points and last gets 0 points. The player with the most points at the end of the season gets 1st place. It’ll be for fun and it’ll help everyone see what they need to improve on (matchup wise, vs gameplay style, etc.)
Since we don’t have a lot of players we’ll probably just run it round robin format (everyone plays everyone once and placing depends on how many matches you end up winning). Oh and probably character lock (no switching chars) in place.
Ok i get it. Not going to do so good since im new to stick and still learning and getting used to it but either way ill try my best and hopefully can give you guys a good match. Trying my hardest to stay away from the pad and only use stick so you guys can give me some advice on stick play like holding tips ect. Has anybody found out if evil ryu and oni akuma are playable?. p.s. been getting my butt kicked on online play but thats ok.
