Tri-City/Walla Walla Fight Club

crap saturday night would have been really good for me, but i missed that post. well maybe next time if things work out at work.

That point blank tiger cannon versus metsu hadoken was the highlight of the night for me. Truly epic.

Dragon Ball Z style. Haha. It was a good session. Good improvements overall again. You all just need to do more safe jumps and option selects.

Oh hey Kalvin we were talking about frame traps earlier. I think I can explain it better now.

So this is how it goes. Ryu does a cr. short and the opponent ends up blocking it. Cr. short gives him +2 frames on block. Cr. strong has a start-up of 4 frames (before it comes out to hit) and is active 4 frames (the amount of time it can hit anything). This means that with the +2 from the cr short it’ll be out there in 2 frames faster than it normally would have (4 - 2 = 2) and be active (out there hitting) for 4 frames. So it’ll beat out ANYTHING that has a start-up of more than 2 frames. Meaning even if Rog throws out a cr jab (3 frame start-up) during that time, it’ll get beat. This is why it works against OS throw techs/cr. shorts/cr. jabs.

Ahh, I see. The exception would obviously be reversal moves with invincible start-up. So let’s say I used reversal super with chun during your frame trap with ryu. It has 2 frames of start-up…our attacks would meet in the same frame. At that point it comes down to hit priority, correct? One will beat the other, or else they will exchange? Is there any character data for hit priority, like a priority rating that every move has? That would be helpful.

Also, where was that site that has frame data again? I’m ready to get balls deep in this. There are things I would like to understand better, like how much blockstun a move generates verses how much hitstun. I have combos that link together on hit, but don’t create a safe blockstrings when blocked. The only thing I can think of is that all, or most, moves create more frames of hitstun than they do blockstun. So I might need to speed up my input for a safe blockstring. I dunno…

Some night I’m gonna need your help to do safe jump and option select training. The training room would be so much more helpful if you could record a move and then set the dummy to use it on reversal…

See the thing is it’d be a guess. You’re not punishing me for doing a move that gives me frame DISadvantage. Yes I can get hit out of it because of whatever move that has invincibility frames (supers, DPs, so on) goes THROUGH attacks but that’s all a guess/read on if I’m gonna do it just like how it’s a guess/read if you’re gonna hit a button. What it does is teach your opponent to start blocking rather than relying on hitting a light attack button to get out of a situation. You can counter it with a move like a DP to hit my cr. strong. But then I can also bait the DP with a block. Or you could not DP and I could actually not go for the frame trap and try to throw but you could end up doing OS throw tech…and we’re back to the beginning of all this.

Basically it’s a safer option vs throws/light attacks than just doing a DP where I could potentially get punished with a big combo.

BTW here’s the frame data:

Thanks to a tip from Aroun the other night, I have devised a triple crossover shenanigan with ultra 2 potential. I haven’t seen it before or heard of it, so I’m going to call it my signature move. The only problem is I can’t exactly practice it unless its live play.

Got my Tuesday/Wednesday off next week. I’ll try to set something up. Hopefully David will be back from NorCal by then.

Oh and my frame trap thing…uh…replace cr short with cr jab. I was reading the data wrong. Haha.

Actually I’m thinking of holding something at my place next week if any of you want to come over. I can have 2 setups going, but I only have 1 stick.

I’ll be down for that. Just let me know on what day.

I’m gonna shoot for Wednesday. Gotta work some details out at home first, but I’ll provide the food, drink, and snacks. Gonna see if I can get some bbq going on too. I have one stick and 3 pads, so extra sticks will be a must. I’m hoping you can help with that mike. I have 2 tvs, 2 ps3s, and 2 copies of ssf4, so there shouldn’t be a lot of waiting to play. Depending on the turnout, we might be able to arrange a small tournament. I’ll provide more details as I get everything straightened out.

Yea that sounds cool ill let you know if i can make it and if you need anything let me know.

Cool. I’ll bring sticks and extra snacks. I ate all your pepperoni sticks you left last time btw. Haha.

I was wondering where I left those. :stuck_out_tongue: If I can get my bro to bbq, then I’ll pick up some meat. If not I’ll order pizza. There will be soda and beer to go around, if anyone wants to drink. I’m gonna make some salsa too. You guys can bring whatever you want, but I think I should have food and drinks covered. Mike, can you see if David, Aroun, Raul, and Hector want to come? Frankie, i’ll send out info on my location here shortly. If you have a cell number and don’t mind, send me a message on here or psn with it.

I’ll let them all know. David should be back from Cali by then.

i’m down for wednesday. I think i’m all boozed out from this weekend tho. Was too sick for school yesterday

Alright. Cool. Gonna session between 3 and 9pm. I’ll send out my location to everyone via private message here in a bit.

Thanks everyone for showing up. Had a great turnout. Everything went smoothly. Hopefully I can hold another one sometime soon. ggs!

Thanks a lot for hosting Kalvin. Was fun and that carne asada was so freakin good. Next time we’ll run a round robin tourney for fun.

Heard you suck in Super Street Fighter 4. You should do a first to 10 with one of your best players there, and record it!
