Honestly if it’s only one frame like what ves said with guile it’s so easy one frame shouldn’t make a difference on certain characters I wasn’t surprised that it didn’t work on boxer simply because the timing was a bit stricter… But with only 1 frame change there might be even more unblockables that weren’t there before lol

Got the mod too. spent the ten minutes before writing this post and subsequently going to bed testing a tiny number of things, but i was interested to see what had changed about those that can block both ways in AE. I didn’t get far though, work in the morning. Gotta sleep, but food for thought re b.throw, dash, j.mk:
Akuma can no longer block both ways in the corner. It hits cross up and lands in front of him on hit, but sadly behind him on block.
Dudley and Juri can no longer block both ways mid screen. Instead it hits front. In the corner it hits cross up.
edit: also i just got in and my hands are frozen stiff from driving but it felt like its possible to whiff the j.mk entirely on some characters. esp in the corner. But it might be my broken hands right now, could barely input dash haha.
edit: most of the above is actually wrong haha, but im right about these characters not blocking both ways anymore.
IIRC Boxer gets up too quickly for j.lp. He can block it every time. I didn’t test corner situations.
Just also made me think, if this set up always hits front from dash j.mk midscreen, maybe that means we can now choose whether to cross up or hit front just by using hop instead of dash.
The hop wouldn’t work because it’s 1 frame slower than the dash.
Hop goes farther though, so your opponent is reacting to hop vs. dash and if they don’t know they have to guess left/right
This already works on a few characters who you can’t crossup with dash whatever midscreen.
imo the best answer is that blanka hsould have kara off of his s.HP.
i mean clearly it does everything already, now it can kara. actually to take it even further. j.HP should crossup as well as j.MK. HP FOR LIFE.

This is kind of frustrating. Getting j.mk to hit so that they can’t just hold up, get tagged and reset, and with the timing that unblockables guile and fuerte, causes a ton of whiffs on other characters.

But as we can see from these patch notes being super open about these things isn’t necessarily the best idea? I’ll let ves decide what’s best though.

I have literally no idea what unblockable this change removes. It’s given us a new one and I can still make it work on boxer even though the timing feels tight. Currently only one character can block both ways and it’s none of the ones that could previously.
Either this is actually an accidental buff, we translated it wrong, or it was modded in wrong. Either way, this is looking er… pretty sweet
Edit: ok we’ve lost one, but it wasn’t boxer. I’ve only tested j.mk so who knows about j.rh,j.hp,j.lp and so on.
I read about changes that weren’t in the report. Now I’m wondering if Blanka will have any of those.
would make sense, as this additional frame on b.throw appears to leave us better off than before
Stupid thoughts: If you go back to the original japanese translations of why they added the one frame to the backthrow, it was said to remove AN unblockable setup.
Depending on english, grammer, and retarded translation differences, Capcom may have specifically only wanted to remove one unblockable for whatever reasons, while deeming the other unblockables are needed for “balance”
ALSO, by adding in the one frame, lets not forget new possibilities opponents have of doing a move that counters blankas jump mk. for example, there was that one video from a couple days ago where guile could do standing lp to get out of it. Well, now he has 1 more frame to do so, etc. So unblockable still there, but easier to get out of?

Blanka did unblockable with fp, twice in a row, if the guile could have blocked, then he just sucks, my guess is he couldnt.
