All in all, I’m cautiosly confident that 2012 blanka will be better than AE blanka. No more reversal ex up ball punishes on hit bullshit. I’d like to think the rockcrusher buff will have potential too.

Offhand, Rog and Dudley should be tougher now imo.

what does the rock crusher buff actually mean??? is it only for the normal or even for the overhead version???
I mean…an overhead which lets you hit-confirm into a 2 frame link into ULTRA is pretty nice…
and we dont need to hold U/B to combo j.HK, s.close.MP, ultra 1 anymore, because we can use rockcrusher now and have the same link!

and what does the follow up after EX horiball mean??? WHAT CAN I ADD??? AND WHY ISNT THE FA NOT MENTIONED ANYMORE???
I dont think this is gonna work without a FADC because of the ball bounce AND jimmy would turn into a combo machine…

I agree, Blanka will be fine. The unblockables were nice, but good players always teched the throws anyways and you don’t need it to beat the not-so-good players.

But ex.upball AND combo’d hori ball knocking down now? For MORE damage? Plus a possible new rockcrusher >> ultra link? Yeah boy

If good players “always” teched your throws you were doing a horrible job setting them up.

Blanka’s karathrow game, his humongous focus, using jab xx hop backthrow vs. an opposing focus, etc.

Maybe dash forward throw, or hop forward throw always get teched, but you can throw top players with Blanka, and if players start late teching you get low forward frame traps working and are able to ch to sweep and start offense there.

I’m guessing the rockcrusher frame buff is just for the OH version. It would be awesome if there was a 2 frame ultra link though off normal rockcrusher. There are instances where you don’t have enough charge to punish an opponent with ultra 1 and are forced to ground combo into it. The Taku/Uryo match comes to mind (3rd place SBO qual). Taku misses the cr. lk (or mk) link into ultra 1. If standard rockcrusher is a new 2 frame ultra link, that would be a great situational buff.

If standard rockcrusher doesn’t push back like the way neutral s.mp is like I would have a difficult time to convince myself too many reasons why I would even bother using s.mp… Even if technically I get a tad harder damage combos it’ll still be hard to justify especially when there’s much more options post rockcrusher if the knockback is the same and the standard version is just as deadly

Yeb has updated his PC mod with the new changes, including the Blanka +1f recovery on b.throw change. I’ll check it out later.

it’s already a given we’re gonna lose some if not all unblockables but question is which ones…

there’s also characters like dudley who can block both sides… with 1 frame late… i can’t see this happening anymore… so you can nearly say it’s a ‘buff’ against dudley…

also does anyone know for certain that dashing is faster than hopping?

Just did some basic testing vs Boxer on the modded version. Unblockable j.mk is gone. Seems like he can always block by holding forward no matter how you time it. If you do it with a certain timing it will whiff completely regardless of which way he is holding. Unblockable j.hk still possible!

Will edit this post with more findings.

No more ambiguous jump ins vs Abel :frowning: Everything can be blocked by holding back. Only j.hp lands on the other side.

Seems like unblockable j.mk is still possible vs Guile, Guy, Viper and Fuerte.

No more testing for now.

I’m skeptical of this mod change. I can tell something is different, but I can’t believe that Capcom would only nerf it in a way that affects the j.mk unblockable vs Boxer and a few ambiguous jump ins.

It also annoys me that some meaty setups may be screwed up by this nerf.

you know what pisses me off big time?

they nerf blanka all the time including the unblockable removal but they keep the freaking kara-throws for ken and vega… these things have huge range and that pisses me off… yes, blanka has kara options too… but to be honest, kara moves should be removed for all characters.
