Ah 'k. Usually I use that extra one frame to move my finger from mp to lp. Maybe I should slide and multitask walking.
ves…how realistic is it really to walk forward 1 frame after mp to combo the jab elec? I didnt know that till nnow, and I havent practiced, just wondering about the practicality.
I do it a lot against Cammy/Viper/Sak
You just hold forward and slightly delay the jab. I do it without even thinking, completely practical.
yay for something new to work on!!
whoop whooooooo…meeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Yeah it’s no big deal at all to walk forward. Can help on some crossover jump attacks also.
see chart.
Using the 3Punch button to plink Ultras is normal and a valid execution thingy many players do. Reversing your button layout completely it just pants on head retarded though.
It’s also my understanding that certain cabinets in Japan actually do use 8 button layouts with 3P and 3K. Maybe they are custom or something, I don’t know, its irrelevant because you are playing with the 99% of players here that play the game on a console and not at an arcade.
You don’t get it and I understand. If I started playing fighters in this day and age I wouldn’t get it also. IMO if you can’t press 3 buttons at the sametime then you are a retard, are slow, or are not meant to play fighting games, but hey that my opinion. These games are based on how well you able to play against the person while doing multiple attacks under pressure. If you miss 1 button during a match and missed an ultra then that is your fault. By using a 3k 3p button you eliminate the HUMAN ERROR part of the game when using those commands. To me the game of STREET FIGHTER was meant to be played with 6 buttons at the core, but with climate of gaming now on consoles the companies have to cater to the pad player or the casual player.
The button layout for a STREET FIGHTER has always been the following:
Punches=Jab, strong, Fierce
Kicks= short, forward, Roundhouse
This is the method I grew up with and learned how to play with. Of course it’s easier to do ultra’s or hop with a 3k/3p button. I just don’t see what’s so hard about hitting 3 buttons at the same time. The new joystick have 8 buttons because the games are made for the console now and most default’s are 8 buttons. If you use button binds then good for you. I choose the play the game the way it was meant to be played at it’s core. If you don’t understand that then you’ll never understand it sir. I’m just waiting on the day when sf is on the pc only and keyboard players swear that they need to bind moves to their keyboard because it’s to hard to do motions on a keyboard. lol When that happens i’ll stop playing fighters.
Anyways that’s just my opinion. Don’t get all upset if you don’t agree with my views. It’s just 1 old man opinion. I usually cut off the other buttons and I switch my button layout to use the last 6 buttons because that’s how the arcade machines where in the arcades. I hate that you can’t cut off the 3k/3p on 3s oe because my hands are so big that my inside fingers always graze the closest button to the joystick randomly.
I agree. Different strokes for different folks! Sorry I brought it up in the 1st place! What are the active frames/recovery frames on the rockcrusher? I need to know how to throw it out on meaty wake up to combo it since it has +1 on hit in 2012. Over head into the ultra 1 is worth the risk imo.
Wow, that’s pretty condescending. But whatever.
Also completely wrong, It doesn’t matter what you think about how the game is “meant” to be played because how it’s “meant” to be played has an objective answer, ie, what the game designers came up with (whether or not playing this way matters is the subjective part.). The game was built with a 3p button and it was meant to be used, deal with it.
But I’m guessing you can lk, lk ultra with 3 buttons and no plink consistently in tournaments anyway, cos anyone not able to do so is supposedly a retard and not meant to play fighting games right? You can use whatever config you like but your reasons for using 6 buttons,(beyond “it’s comfortable and using the 3p buttons just feels awkward after so long” which isn’t what you said, but the only reason that’s reasonable) aren’t some un-fathomable-by-the-young old school honor code laws by which true old shool arcade players must abide. They’re just silly. Like this whole discussion.
Playing older fighters hasn’t given you some deep understanding of how all fighting games work. It’s just given you biases. It’s not people like me that don’t get it, it’s you.
You’re living in the past maaaan.
Stop livin’ in the paaaast.
I can tell you that when you get into a tournament finals that pressure makes people screw up pressing 3 buttons cleanly. for me it is shame that button bnding is ok because when I’m under pressure I don’t miss combos because of that pressure but some other players most certainly do. We’ve all got different strengths and composure may be your strength and reflexes might be your opponents, button binding removes a large aspect of the game IMO and it hurts players like me
I played in so many matches I should have lost but people were so nervous to play me because I was a known player in my local scene or they were quite far into the tournament and were unable to loosen up they handed me the matches on a platter. Binding buttons makes a difference, I can actually remember people screwing up ultras and getting ex ark many many many times. Composure is really important, button binding goes a little way to dampening that aspect of the game. It’s not a massive deal but its something.
It seems everyone has an opinion(and pretty strong one too) on the button thing. Its a fighting game and the goal is to win, so its hard to fault your opponent when they are just using means provided to them to reach that same goal, no matter now you learned to play the game. You are able to do/use the same things they are now, so just because you choose not to, for whatever reason, doesn’t mean they are wrong for making a different choice.
Lets put it to rest and focus on 2012 Blanka who most think will be better, but not quite top tier? Top 5? High mid? mid? I think he is mid as is.
I think he’s mid right now, yeah.
I don’t really know how the matchups will swing exactly.
I agree, better to not jump to conclusions before we get our hands on him. I still want his +50 health back from Vanilla, always thought that was a senseless nerf.
Yeah I’ve wanted that back too, though I’d rather have his stun normalized, he doesn’t play like a low stun character IMO.
Lasers already ffs
^ this…
Also I have detailed overhead setups in the labwork thread, and I have the post sweep one in the Master Guide thread.
Is there another lokitest coming up soon for us to view? I want to see how the ex hori ball really works, or maybe the japanese haven’t thought about wasting 3 bars for that type of combo. I know some players in japan (tokido) that could go there and ask some of the top Blanka players to try fadc with the ex hori ball.
ok thanks ves.
