Looks like the word of mouth vigilance is working
I just got done watching this movie and I have sooo many questions.
At this rate, those questions will never be answered in this thread.
I can answer them. Most of the responses may be “cuz reasons”
This is both good and bad.
Fucking hell.
Transformers the last knight earned a zero-star review from Rolling Stone magazine among others. This is Bay-cancer at his best.
Time for a reboot! LOLOL
The movie isn’t that bad, but anyone that rates it above 2 out of 5 I question what they saw.
Age of Extinction was a 2/5 at best.
This is apparently worse.
yo, I need fucking help
my taste cancer friend, whose my best friend, wants to actually go watch this sophistry. I keep trying to shoe horn other movies, like Wonder Woman becaus at least I know that would be better. This dude wants to see the movie because there’s a “Dragon” in there. He also unironically loves the homoerotic love fest that is Fast and Furious.
What to do?
Unfriend him
it was ok. but all the new decepticons didn’t need screen time for introductions all things considered.
It is.
The Decepticons honestly weren’t needed in the movie at all. That sequence have me hope and it just crushed them shortly after.
My biggest gripes with this movie:
Action sequences weren’t even sequences. There was no escalation to them at all. The Autobot / Con battle in the city was a waste of time.

[] What was the point of even having Megatron in this movie?
[] They could have just gotten rid of Vivian Wembley entirely based on the circumstances
[] No need for Izzy, Sqweeks, or Jimmy
[] MARTHAAAAAAAAAAAA!
[] Optimus Prime going rogue had 0 payoff
[] The obvious Bumblebee movie setup
[] Lack of continuity to the movie before it
[] No clear villain (motivation)
[] The language - why was shit literally flying all over the place
[] The gratuitous violence - The Autobots IMO do more of the killing than the Decepticons.
The movie also suffered from the ridiculous number of plot threads
[] Transformers as part of Earth’s history
[] Cade and trying to go home and be a family man
[] Optimus as an emissary of Quintessa
[] Izzy’s quest to avenge her family
[] Military coup to work with the decepticons
[] The Last Knight

The Chaos Bringer

Like AOE or not, they at least tried storywise to center more of the story on the Transformers. No interjecting of human history into their presence, just the Autobot struggle. This movie somehow forgot that happened and just kept going because reasons.
Then the end of the movie promises to deal with the problem that was introduced in this movie. So we are just gonna do this again.
I hope the Bumblebee movie pulls a First Class and follows up with a reset a la DoFP.
Side note - My brother reminded me how increasingly angry Prime has gotten. Each line was spoken before right before someone caught it.

[] “You left me no choice”
[] "Give me your face "
[] "Time to find out "
[] “Cade!”. . .boom

“Did you forget who I am!”

LOL, I misquoted. However, the very next line was “I AM OPTIMUS PRIME!”
I literally said - “WE ALREADY KNOW THIS” in my seat
I agree with 13 things on this list.

I don’t think the movies need to be set in the 80s.
At $198 million and slowing dramatically, the last Michael Bay-directed installment in the robot franchise won't come close to matching its predecessor's big $330 million China total in 2014.
Anyone think this movie will go the way of Amazing Spiderman 2?
hmmmm if they were to reboot an 80’s setting on the first couple of movies would be fun.

The new Bumblebee movie will be set in the 80s. I wonder if the general direction of that movie has changed due to TF5’s performance.
Well if they have any brains at all they need to distance themselves from the bayformers and its universe. Just get back to its roots.

That movie will be a turning point for the franchise. If it has a hint of Bay-dom in it, it will not bode well. Reboot in 2021
(It saddens me that somehow this latest clusterfuck of a movie is apparently still making more than Baby Driver domestically. Sigh. I hate humanity.)
Is 2021 when mainland China collapses or is otherwise destroyed or something? Because I really don’t see the series rebooting despite its lack of critical and intellectual quality if it’s still making bank off of idiots, especially overseas. As bad as Transformers: The Last Knight seems to be, I highly doubt that it will bomb as badly as it should. If it does not make its money back in full, then it would likely be more because of Bay’s bloated budget (for explosions and explosion accessories) than because it made no substantial amount of money.
Even if a reboot does happen, then it wouldn’t surprised me if it happened because of Bumblebee’s movie failing even if that turns to actually be good, well-written, and otherwise divorced from Bay’s multitude of failings, egregious failings which have still “somehow” made money because humanity is dumb like that. Do you honestly think that Bumblebee can carry a movie by himself in terms of getting people’s asses in the seat, especially when he’s been barely developed in the movie series that his movie would be a spin-off of? The answer currently seems to be “no”, unfortunately.
