I’m certain IDW knows what not to do here.
i.e. Perhaps long-ass imprisonment that he HAS earned this time(shoutouts to Chaos Theory, bookends?), but he gets to live, because
he always was a well-intentioned extremist, but he DID fall tragically far into being ax-crazy/killing for it’s own sake, and even then, he’s shown that he’s not irredeemable.
And he’s Megatron, he’s at least still useful as the big guy, if nothing else lol
Quick opinion thing; for me personally, the simple fact that he had a heel realization/is sticking with it pretty well is in my top 10 “reaffirm what this character is all about” moments. Easily within the ballpark of Code of Hero in that aspect.

Now some of these are official releases. The more “obscure” characters are made by third party (not Hasbro/Takara-Tomy). What these companies are doing is taking figures that are fan interest and making them a reality. Surprising enough, HasTakTomy has not gone the route of cease and desist yet as they are infringement of copyrighted materials. Some are totally original figures just using known characters (See ToyWorld Orion [not IDW Optimus Prime], FanToy’s Quakewave [not Shockwave], Perfect Effect’s Scouting Force [not Reflector] and MakeToy’s Giant [not Devastator] ). Some are characters created as direct copies (See iGear’s seekers [not the coneheads, the original trio] and the PP-01. You don’t see the direct copies as much anymore, as most of these companies take design elements from existing figures and incorporate them into the figures e.g. hinges, joint system, transformation “scheme”. This has been a divisive thing on some forums. Some feel that a real fan should only buy official. However, these third party devs are not only creating characters that we may never see, but do it so quickly and epicticiously as they don’t have to adhere to the same safety regulations that HasTakTomy have to, along with less R&D time (since HasTakTomy has done most of the work for them as far as engineering goes).
Typically you will only be able to find these items online. TFSource, BBTS, and Captured Prey are all pretty solid sites (to name a few).

A few thoughts:
How many repaints of this mold are we gonna get! It’s like HasTakTomy is gonna milk this one out at a premium. At $250, that’s a bit much at this point IMO. So far in 3 years since it’s debut we have the following recolors:
MP-10 Convoy
MP Optimus Prime
MP-10B - Black Convoy/ Nemesis Prime
YOTH Optimus Prime
EVA Convoy
Bathing Ape Convoy
Even though I prolly won’t buy it, We need a new Megatron/ Galvatron MP figure to properly scale with the many flavors of the MP-10 molds
If you need a Classics version of Optimus Prime, save your money. Suggested retail is about $40. Looks to be close in scheme to the Henkei/ Transformers Cloud release. As a bonus it comes with a tricked out Evasion Mode Prime LOL!
That MakeToy one is beautiful, I want to see more of their products and maybe empty my wallet in the future.
Shattered Glass MP-10 is pretty sweet, even if not the legit one I think the repaint looks fairly good.
