I want that perfect effect magnus upgrade. Initial reviews from people getting it have been very positive, and I’m a sucker for additional guns and swords. Plus he’ll have a backpack to hang his bfg on.
I think I’d pretty much be sold on any additions for city commander…he’s probably my favorite tf now. Really happy I managed to get an official one too from a dude on the tfw bst boards who just needed the cash for him. Only thing I’m missing is the additional faceplates, everything else he included. Did the KO check when it came in for all the little hidden number 2’s, and the other variance issues. Guy hooked me up with 100% legit with no hassles so I was very happy with that deal. He’s an awesome toy.
Getting my collection reorganized with some cool little lighting effects too. When I get my office all cleaned up from re-arranging I’ll post up some pics.
Parts not lining up, wheels don’t align and won’t roll, hands won’t hold the guns. I read the entire Rodimus thread on TFW yesterday, some people are just impatient and think they should be able to perfectly transform a hyper-complicated MP the first time out.
I remember all the ranting and raving that happened w/MP Megatron. Just takes a fine touch and some patience. Can’t wait to get my hands on MP Grimlock, but finding room on my TF shelf is going to be really difficult.
Sounds like an MP Release to me . Any figure with this level of detail with several functions will require some fine touch. I mean at that price point, I expect things to be like that. Falling off while on display, no, but if I press to hard. . … sure. THS-02 is a good example of similar issues to MP-09. It’s my fave rendition of Prime, despite the useless Alt mode. Try transforming the thing without snapping off the front wheels
On another note - Do any of you have THS-01 Galaxy Convoy? I thought it was nice, but was it just a fun size Die cast clone of the actual Galaxy Figure.
BTW SMB - Grimlock may still be the most accurate MP figure to date. I do “kinda” wish it was a version based off of the more modern T-Rex design, but I’m not complaining.
A depressing 47 minute MP Rodimus video review from Optibotimus
Basically, he praises how the 4 modes look, but criticizes the tabbing nightmares, poor gun-holding hands, pieces breaking off, and the spoiler fin paint scraping, despite transforming it with minimal force and using the instructions, and having prior knowledge of all the complaints.
oh no you didnt, those forms look like straight garbage (or something out of beast wars). thats like saying tfp dev ain’t as nice as rotf dev. you probably didnt get into tf until after g1, did you?
I don’t think you interpreted what I said. This deals with the Alt mode, which can still be a robotic T-Rex using the more accurate scientific representation and maintain the G1 Robot aesthetic.
Ok, just finished the review. Wooooow. I heard about those issues with MP Megs, but the QC issues are apparent in the vid alone. At $200 its got to be a little more durable. This isn’t going to stop me from getting the US Release though. At least I can honestly return it if things are really stupid
Funny, I just watched this and then reloaded the page. I think if you love Hot Rod/ Rodimus, you will bypass the flaws in the panels and what not and just deal with it. If you don’t you’ll be hard pressed. I like Rodimus, so with all the issues, $200 is too much. Now $70, I can deal with, as it’s more than likely going to stay in one spot. I must admit, if this was Optimus Prime/ Convoy, it wouldn’t sway me not to get it. I love Prime, so any price for a show accurate representation would work. Now I understand that MP figures are not meant to be toyed with, but they gotta be able to transform without snapping parts into oblivion.
So in MP Accuracy, I’d rank them in the following order
I find the Optibotimus review a little untrustworthy in that there’s multiple times where he says “oh I forgot about this step of the transformation”. I don’t know about anyone else, but I make sure I’m directly referring to the instructions when I’m transforming MP’s just so I don’t break anything. =\
mine was delayed til monday shipment due to our blizzard here in chicago last week.
I’ll post up some of my personal opinions/pics when he comes in.
I’ll try not to be biased when doing a short write-up on him. Anything I type up will be SOLELY MY OPINION on whats coming out of the MP09 box, as I haven’t read too deeply into the problems being reported with him. For those of you waiting on the US release, of course I can try to answer any questions about him or take any requested pics/angles if you guys want them. Just let me know.
I might buy the Takara version of Rodimus, but I’m kind of waiting for someone dejected enough to sell their broken one. Might save myself a little *bit *of money that way. And depending on the damage, I may be able to fix the issues myself.
