Transformers Thread

I sigged the conversation. serious stuff.

I was afraid that movie toys would end up trumping everything else, and it seems I was right. There are still some ALT’s/Classics I want to pick up, but every store now seems to only carry movie toys.

The movie promotion is the reason that we never saw that Alternators Megatron Cadillac. Priorities shifted. I hate when companies act like you can’t have more than 2 different brands on the shelf at the same time.

Yea dude…

but before the movie came out there were:

Cybertron
Titanium
Alternators
Classics
and technically, still Universe

all competing for shelf space.

I’ve never even seen Alternators/Binaltechs in stores before, but this was before I recently became a toy robot whore.

That’s because most stores got one case if ANY cases and they quickly disappeared. Except Smokescreen/Sideswipe; they ordered too many of those and they stayed around a long time. That’s one of the reasons why the stores didn’t order many cases of the next waves, too much on the shelves.

Three bots I’m considering:

]Binaltech/Alternators Hound[/LIST]Thoughts? How much should I be willing spend on these guys?

How much did it go for? I got mine about a year ago for about 110 bucks (had to get it from England). Just wondering if its still up there, price-wise.

Seen some really nice alternators at Fry’s…for $25 a pop. I could have sworn I’ve seen them for $15.

they were a Sicon XB a TC and a jeep.

This one was pretty reasonable actually. Can’t recall the price at present but I think it was $26-28 minus shipping. I know the price was good because I don’t like to get into a huge bidding war unless it’s for a Masterpiece or rare Binaltech/Alternator. My limit is around the $100 range, which is probably why I’ll never win out on a Jin Saotome custom. I almost had his custom Meantime figure - which he converted into a working watch - for $51 until some guy outbid me waaaaaay into the hundreds.

Back to Sixshot: it was loose but no missing parts and in great condition. Probably the best auction for a G1 Sixshot I’ve seen so far.

You all know that Sixshot was reissued a few years ago.

He could come back under the Encore banner of reissues.

Thats the one I have. Awesome figure btw, didnt know how big he was till I opened the box, I was impressed.

Who all is picking up the DVD on the 16th

from SMB: Last I heard, Alt’s and Classic are d-e-a-d.

Alternators are dead.

Classics actually aren’t.

They relaunch either summer or late 08’. That comes straight from Arron Archer of Hasbro. I was there at BotCon where they showed pictures and talked to us about the upcoming releases.

Of course I am…but I am torn to which one I get.

I’m getting the SE, but stores are offereing different bundles:

The Wal-Mart edition of the DVD will be in a tin case with the same cover as the 2-disc and includes an animated version of the prequel comic book.

Target’s disc case is a transformable flat image of Optimus Prime… with a prequel comic book about Starscream.

Best Buy will have 2 small figures included in the SE set (Prime and Ironhide?)…and free lithograph.

Torn I say…TORN!!!

Yes, but not under the name ā€œClassics.ā€ They’ll be called Universe, but they’ll be essentially the same line. Who knows why.

The mini Figures are Prime and Mini Cliffjumper both look great.

The Target Starscream comic sounds nice but I think I am going to go with the Wal-Mart Edition mainly because of that Animated Prequel is too good to pass up.

I’m going to go for the Best Buy version with the 128 meg mp3 player.

Got my Masterpiece Megs upgrade kit today. :lovin:
