Wait, is there a difference between these guys and POTP? Is Hasbro trying to get back $$$$ from the KO POTP dino market?
There’s quite a few NICE looking, KO POTP Dino sets on E-bay. Which was a necessity for many because these guys were horribly distributed back then. I only EVER saw Grimlock. The other four were perpetually MIA no matter where i went.
It’s like for every 6 Grimlock’s they made, only (1) of the other guys were produced. Sad.
Edit: $207? Yeah, no thanks. KO POTP Dinos are STILL the way to go.
I think not. Hasbro/Takara definitely keeps an eye on all that stuff. The G1 2.0 Era we know today, starting with Combiner Wars to the present, didn’t come about until 3rd party and KO market had reached their peak a while back. Hasbro wanted to regain that lost market share.
I’d say they succeeded. Once G1 2.0 kicked off, my interest in 3rd party stuff plummeted and i haven’t looked back since. Why spend $70+ on a 3rd party G1 character rendition, when CHUG finally stepped up?
Although they shot themselves in the foot because, the Goodness of the CHUG lines also made Masterpeice irrelevant too. Only the hardcore with the deepest wallets, still care about MP.
I think you missed what I was talking about. Many of these items KOed are in the pipeline already. Remember, KOs are models copied from an existing mold. Now 3P is a completely different thing. I strongly believe that evaluates the 3P market to come up with ideas or there are designers who work for TT and are using 3P as their proving grounds.
I’d have to disagree. It’s the longest running line in the franchise. I promise you that this setup for CHUG will run out of steam in the next couple of years and they’ll move on to something more modern (e.g., IDW lcomics and all lines post Beast Machines).
I’ve always hated the broken windshield look on shattered glass prime. C’mon, we know it’s called shattered glass…Prime doesn’t literally have to have a shattered glass chest.
Crap like this is what justifies the exisitance of places like Toyhacks. To correct this bullsh*t. Just like the way they made a sweet decal set for Netflix Megatron, to cover up that stupidarse battle damage on his chest.
I prefer the 35th Cel-Shaded Siege Megs more but, if he didn’t exist? Then Netflix Siege Megatron w/toyhacks stickers would be my pick.
I don’t mind that since this version of Prime is “battle hardened”. However, the one detail that remains missing is the Autobot symbol plastered across the face of the truck.
I really dig Ratchets robot mode. I think it’s his chest and shield. I also dig the color palette. It’s oddly aesthetically pleasing. I really dig pastel colors though.
The feet make me want to rip out his spark. If I do get that set, Ratchet is getting sold off.
I did a similar thing with one of the Titans Returns box sets. I just wanted the God Ginrai recolor. I sold all of the other parts individually. Those parts paid for Prime.
Hasbro executive: “Damnit! I knew we should have sold them crappy siege releases of these characters first, before putting these out. We could have had the “cybertronian versions” transform into crappy, cyber Go-Karts or something. Could have made double profits across the board!”.
On the flip-side, it’s hasbro. Expect these to pop up elsewhere in the future. Just a matter of time.
Hasbro is like Hollywood. Can’t have a movie without infinite sequel potentiol. And Hasbro can’t cook up a mold without plans to release MOARRRR of it later somehow.
You don’t want Siege Ironhide anyway. Not when the cat’s out of the bag on the Earthrise release, and that the rest of the fans were SUCKERS for buying the Siege version. As hasbro intended.
Edit: This exact post could be made for Siege soundwave, Siege Starscream, Siege Bluestreak, etc, etc. Hasbro was being very shameless with this marketing screwjob.
Some of the examples I can see. However, the Seekers are a completely different design from the ER versions. Many collectors have been looking for the tetrajet since 84. They are also significantly more articulated.
Personally, the Siege version of Ironhide is the better looking figure. The feet at the rear on the Earth mode are just plain lazy. I also think the Vanette mode can be retired.
Hasbro doesn’t do 2nd runs that often. It’ll be some sort of recolor it they do.
That’s been the trick since G1 started.
