MP figures not only cost a lot more but, are usually over-engineered and a pain in the arse to Transform. Not particularly fun to mess with. Plus for a while there, Takara were nickel & diming their MP figures with weaker plastic than you’d find with a mass-produced CHUG release. I’m guessing because they figure only adults that take care of their figures(along with the disposable income) would be buying MPs to begin with. So they could get away with cheap plastic but, continue to charge a premium. No sir.
Plus with modern toy-tech, it’s possible to have CHUG releases with excellent/faithful G1 robot & vehical modes. It used to be we needed to resort to MPs for that. Not so much anymore.
For almost every great MP there is, there’s a CHUG character representation that’s also great. So i’m CHUG only. Masterpeice, in my opinion, has been obsolete for a while now.
Edit: Also i think Takara/Hasbro profits a lot more off CHUG releases, while MP’s are more of a “niche” line. So buying CHUG only is supporting them more and thus, more motivation to keep putting out great lines like Siege.
To you, and that’s quite ok. For many collectors, that’s the better representation of the characters that premiered back in '84 or any of the subsequent lines.
I agree, but to a point. It’s a niche line for western audiences. It’s far more popular in Japan.

That whole -Master concept was pretty cool. I liked the Japanese treatment for the Headmasters best though. They were smaller robots that were the pilots of the body (Transtectors). Powermasters were pretty much the same thing, except the smaller robots were human (Super-God Masterforce).

Correct about Hotlink.
A lot of collectors are going to be using Hotlink as a stand-in for Skywarp (Amazon Exclusive). That one figure alone is going for $100.

Nope. The smaller ones (Furai models) are basically Gunpla kits. The larger ones (Kuro Kai) are really detailed poseable statues.
I am going to have to pre-order Windblade. Given the design, I can definitely see it being hard to come by.
I’m seeing the Netflix versions of various Siege bots but, HATE that they’re diving in further on the “battle Damage” stuff. Sideswipe for example looks all scorched. Like a kid held a lighter to him. Blehh. And the Netflix Siege Megatron looks cool at first, as he all decked out in Silver but… now he has large scratch/scar marks all over his chest. Ugghh.
Have not seen the Netflix Magnus though. As the figure contains “spoilers” to the upcoming Netflix Siege cartoon, so they purposely don’t have a display window on the box.
Whatever. I’m just happy they didn’t go overboard on the “damage” with most figures in the Siege line. Prime and Megs were the worst offenders and looked filthy but, the 35th Anniversary repaints fixed all that. These “netflix” repaints will be an easy skip.

I agree that most of this line will be a pass for most. The only one that look better than the original is Megatron (which I have pre-ordered). I’ll be interested to see what they do with Optimus Prime’s deco. If it’s done pretty well, then I’ll grab that one as well since ER Prime looks less and less interesting to me every time I see it. You are definitely right about Sideswipe, they went all in on the damage. However, I do think that it is applied better than any WFC figure so far.
