Transformers Devastation game by Platinum Games!- Oct 2015!

Ah hmmm. It looks fucking awesome no doubt, but think I’m with Atirador in waiting for a price drop. If I where a Transformer head then I’d probably be on this day one, but I have no nostalgia for the series so it would be the gameplay that would be the draw for me, and there doesn’t seem to be enough for me to drop 50 precious bones on it. When I see it for less will probably cop it. Buy Korra instead for now.

Glad you guys are lovin it tho. That’s dope!

Game sux. Just like Anarchy Reigns and MGR.

Platinum sux :coffee:

You the laziest troll ever

That would of worked if you didn’t put in Anarchy Reigns.

Everyone here knows you played the shit out of AR

Stop lying, nigga. I borrowed it from a friend to try out and it was so bad I used it as a coaster. Friend was salty as fuck but I told him better to hold this L than to play the game.

Haven’t played anarchy reigns but mgr was utter garbage.
I like platinum but with their recent games have become very overrated.
Haven’t had a chance to play this game though

MGR is pretty good, but you can tell it was dev’d in under a year.

One day, someone is going to hire P* and give them adequate time, advertising, and budget…

…and on that day, the greatest game known to man will be made.

I also find it funny some of you guys are always talking about “support the devs, stop hating on publishers, Po” are the same ones talking about waiting for price drops… :coffee:

Dunno if you are referring to me or not with that last comment, but I’ve bought the majority of P*s products full price so your sentiment holds 0 value if it’s directed at me. I even bought Bayonetta 2 and I don’t even own a fucking Wii-U lol.

I’m not a Transformers head so half the draw of the product is missing for me. I watched G1 like 5 years ago and I thought it was fucking awful. Peter Cullen means more to me as the Hype Man for Toonami then Transformers. If this where a Beast Wars game it would be a different story, but it’s not. Tack on a 5 to 6 hour run time (And this doesn’t sound like a Vanquish situation with the wonky timer) on top of people saying it’s Bayonetta with robots and frankly I could just go play Bayonetta from beginning to end again. Apparently I’ll have a pretty similar experience, and it will last longer.

Sorry man, but it’s a nostalgia fueled game for something I have 0 nostalgia for. All that leaves is the combat, of which there is only 6 hours of new content worth. I’ll hold my 50 bucks. The value is not there for me. I’ll just scoop up Korra instead, been wanting to play that for a while anyway. That’s a cartoon IP I actually like, and I still get that sweet Platinum action. I’ll scoop this up when it’s price matches what it’s value sounds to be, for me.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with that line of reasoning.

Since they are alteady with activision… Get JMS to write it, 3 years of dev time and gdlk advertising… Behold, the greatest super hero and Spider-Man game of all time.

Get his theme on the credits and it’s over. GOAT Game.

Further off-topic(sorry!) but if a One Punch Man game ever gets made, it’s gotta be by Platinum.

I’d rather have a Kill la Kill game honestly.

One Punch Man would be fucking hard to do for the same reason Jedi games are fucking tough. How do you make a game hard or challenging or whatever when everything you face dies in one hit? You either have to defy the very essence of the product (One hit kills) or subject the player to the same criteria of dying in one hit more or less and that’s just going to piss the majority of players off. Might just be me, but I’m always irritated when my Lightsaber doesn’t cleave a Stormtrooper in half like a hot knife through so much butter.

Y’all are reading my mind right now… But I’ve been saying P* should do a Spider-Man game for YEARS now.

Yea a P* Spiderman would probably be pretty sweet. I wonder if they would do the whole open world thing tho.

P* + Open World + Godlike Swinging mechanics? Needs to happen.

So the Kamiya directed titles. Their next greatest game of all time will be Scalebound.

You’ve also got built-in Witch Time with Spider-Sense, and Spidey is already just as mobile as P* main characters tend to be… Imagine leaping from enemy to enemy, boucing off a dude, attach a web-line, and launch yourself back in their face… ***WHOO-HOO.

Just give me great boss fights against Doc Ock, Venom, and aerial duels with Green Goblin and Vulture, plus the trademark witty banter…

DAY ONE.

Sheeeit,

If they worked on a Thundercats or Silverhawks game…I’d most likely spontaneously bust a nut off just hearing the news of it and seeing preview footage at a future E3 show. GI Joe is another one too, obviously.

This makes it that much more bizarre to me that the companies that hold these IPs never saw the potential money way back then, because these were all around the time that this industry was firmly cemented as this new thing that was only going to get increasingly more popular and profitable as years went on…the relatively new medium was already on fire at that point because the NES (and…that other company’s “Master System”) was a big deal. There was what…TWO GI Joe games that most people never even knew existed? (Off the top of my head, I only recall there being 1 NES game and an Arcade game that I never heard of until many years later, after arcades became extinct in most of America)

It does make more sense financially now though, since gaming has become so much bigger and more profitable than it was back then.

I had G.I. Joe for the C64.
Wouldnt be surprised if there were more games.

Only good games that came out of popular franchises were a handful of TMNT, Disney and X-Men games though.
Most licensed franchise games sucked fucking ass.
Fuck LJN and Acclaim!

Fuck every NES/Gameboy/Super Nintendo Simpsons game, fuck every Terminator (especially on GameBoy) game, fuck every Superman game.
Damn the salt is real. Thinking about so many games I got that sucked fucking ass but had my favorite shit on its cover.

Thank science for the internet!

Oh and just by the by, if anyone tells you this is “just a five or six hour game” probably only played through the story once with one character and called it a day… FIVE PLAYABLE CHARACTERS, each with their own unique skills and gameplay quirks-- Optimus is the “all-rounder”, Bumblebee, the quick, evasive fighter, Sideswipe, the melee-focused combo monster, Wheeljack, the quirky one, and Grimlock, who is basically a robo-T-Rex Haggar…

There’s so much more than meets the eye™(yeah, I said it, fuck you) to this game- Tons of different weapons, skills, moves to buy, and a weapon and accessory crafting system that is just itching to be explored, not to mention all the hidden shit to find in each level…
I thought it was heavily linear too, until I realized all the shit I’ve been overlooking in the unlockables section.

So no, you’re not getting a Bayonetta that revolutionizes the genre, but you are getting an incredibly solid action game that we would have killed for during the dark ages of every licensed game being shit on a CD.

Platinum has spoiled us so much, that we expect them to re-invent the wheel every time they drop a game, rather than take the formula they’ve already perfected and put an 80’s TF homage spin to it.

So, whether or not you feel its worth $60*(to me, its worth every penny, unlike a lot of the shit sitting on the shelves right now)*, it’s definitely worth experiencing if you have even the slightest love for G1 Transformers, or just good action games in general.
