I bet you even IF Vanquish had multiplayer, people would skip it because the shit’s as fast as the arena shooters of old, and most of the console babies who do nothing but CoD will whine cause “shit’s too damn fast.”
There was so much ignorance around Vanquish, it was annoying. Reviewers were given this brilliant gem of a game and received it in pretty typical fashion.
Reminds me of when some dumbass from Kotaku shit on Metal Gear Rising for not explaining its parry mechanic well enough even though there is a lengthy tutorial before the game starts.
3 hour story mode is not worth 60 bucks. Why is it so hard for devs to give us a lengthy first run of a game nowadays?
It’s $50… and it ain’t no three hour story mode.
Anyone completing this in three hours put it on Easy and mashed their way through. Also, replay value, son.
This IS a P* game we’re talking about…
Oh, I did have it on Easy.
Well, fuck.
Game ain’t 3 hours long. Gringing that perfect weapon to synthesize with the right affixes is gonna take a while and you really need to do it, the leap from Normal to Hard is pretty big in Enemy health and the extra damage or building your ultimate faster is essential for those SS Ranks.
Ok, I just beat the game and the highest starting difficulty and I fucking loved every second of it.
The final bossfight is amazing or rather the final chapters overall.
I don’t want to go into detail and spoil shit for others, but I have to ask if someone has beaten the game on the difficulty you unlock after beating it yet and can tell me if the cliffhanger that is shown at the very end unlocks on higher difficulties or if it’s just there to make us hyped for a sequel.
Also is there a way to select individual missions to SS rank those bitches or do I have to ace them all in a row?
Also does someone know what the “defect” skill on weapons is supposed to do? Is it a debuff for opponents that get hit with it, or is the weapon just “cursed”?
And hard difficulty isn’t that hard tbh. I was lazy for most of the game and upgraded my weapons twice during the playthrough. Once midway through the game and one time at the very end.
If you got a good weapon synthesized it will last you a very long while, which is good because having to micromanage that shit after every mission would be tedious as fuck.
I’m finally gonna have time to start this game today. Been reading all you guys comments the last couple days, so I’m definitely curious to see how I feel about it.
Defect fucks up your weapon it seems. I have no idea how my Axe got it and it was suddenly there at the end against Megatron. Took a long ass time to kill him on Hard since I pretty much had no weapon. You can still use a Defect weapon to synthesize another, so at least you don’t lose affixes and get a good amount of Weapon Exp as well.
Defect might be good to get SS ranks though.
It’s impossible to do that shit when you 1-shot everything.
Can always just pick a level 1 weapon for that, especially the Dual Swords + Grappling Hook combo. Haven’t tried SS Ranking on easy mode though, Defect might be needed there.
That end credits teaser is just a potential sequel hook… Which is why I hope this game succeeds huge.
You can’t select individual mini-chapters, but the save system is just like Bayonetta, so if you screw up a verse, you can reset to the main menu and try again.
Defect skill seems to weaken attack power- One thing I really like is that bosses are susceptible to status effects too.
There’s also two more difficulty levels beyond the default hard, and the level caps on skills and weapons rises with each one.
That’s what I thought.
I miss the times when you’d be able to face the real last boss if you did shit on the hardest difficulty.
Or at least got something special in the end. I remember beating SF2 on hardest without losing a match and I got a nice endgame screen with all the street fighters on it.
The game being short is not much of a problem for me. I rather have a short game that gives me the option to grind it out for shit, than a long-ass shit game with required grind like Mad Max.
This one is my shit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_FqhadoiCQ
I know i keep saying it, but i need an OST release for this. FUCK
I found the secret to SS ranks for anyone who is interested:
Go into focus mode (slo-mo shit) by dodging some shit, go into vehicle mode and your car will be automatically at top speed, then attack the enemy with the resulting charged attack.
Rinse and repeat that shit until you feel you got enough points, then actually end the scenario.
Seems like for fighting challenges, time is not even a factor but only how many style points you gather.
You dun officially made the game easy as fuck for me.
I noticed that Battle Ranks seem to be most affected by points, but hadn’t researched it too deeply…
So Witch Time Focus allows you to be at full speed in vehicle mode?
Energon Shield troops and Hammer Bros bout to get they shit rocked now…
By the way, Seekers are fray to Sniper rifles and long-range Missiles. Get dem Headshot perks leveled up, and never sweat Starscream and his bros again. Also, bosses are just as susceptible to status effects as regular enemies are, so spam the Null Ray all you like on bothersome bots.
Yeah it’s like half a second delay (rough estimate) until you’re at full speed during focus. Dunno how it is with other characters but Optimus’ exhaust pipes spit fire when he’s at full speed.
Haven’t experimented with those weapon skills that improve vehicle acceleration and focus time, but I guess that also helps.
And you do not have to utilize focus necessarily, I just noticed that I get to top speed faster during it, because I was crashing into them anyways repeatedly.
Basically just crash into them with full speed+ light attack/heavy attack like 20 times, then kill everyone and you get your SS ranking.
Kinda tough on Magnus difficulty so I’d skip that until you got your stats up or you got great weapons/tech.
Also most of the time crashing into them like that triggers vehicle attack, so you can do that too unless the opponents are really weak, since it’s also a scoring category for the endgame screen.
P.S.: Every SS rank in challenge modes rewards you with those stat boosting items that permanently enhance one of your attributes, so you can level your characters up easily just by doing them. You got to use them in the items screen though and I don’t know how high they stack.
So basically use them when you got them. Every other item has a max limit on how many you can carry, so don’t let those go to waste.
Using those item, money and exp boosts at the start of the challenge is also a good idea.
P.S.2: Experimented a bit more and the max vehicle speed thing also works if you get a running start. The dodge leading to focus seems to count as a running start as well, but you can also just run in robot mode then transform and get really quick max speed.
And I was wondering how the game expects us to wreck Starscream in like 10 seconds flat… Just tell the game to give me a sniper rifle above C rank and I’ll gladly use it. That shit refuses to drop, and I’m even grinding the hidden area at the beginning of chapter 2 for very high chance of Uncommon and Rare gear.
