Transformers 3

just got back. loved it, much better than part 2. Really good movie, I’d see it again.

Take what was TF1 good, what was good in ROTF, and remove the desert and you’ll get this movie.

News flash: Dark of the Moon was gdlk. [details=Spoiler]Movie actually showing innocent people running away getting blown up was surprising.[/details]

RUN FATBOY RUUUUUUUN!!!

Spoiler

The part where the car just transformed and started blasting the running crowd made this movie a lot more serious.

So it was good. I’ll go see it.

If there’s any reason you should be excited that Michael Bay directed this movie, it’s for the gratuitous and quintessential Michael Bay-esque shots of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Every single one of them.

anyone find this funny?

parkourrr

[details=Spoiler]
sam suddenly knew freerunning when he was going for the pillar and was ninja dodging shit…again. lol its almost the same running scene as t2 but this time he did it more parkour like. he did a freerunning move to run over the car and then slid under another one with ease. [/details]

glad to see someone else mad at robot heaven…ya know i dont even care if theirs a robot heaven. but the fact it was the same heaven as humans…uh def wtf moment.

As a person who really, REALLY hates Michael Bay and his mockery of Transformers I gotta say: This movie is really good.

I don’t think he had any involvement really, his stain isn’t felt and it’s a nice ride. A little long, but I really had a good time.

Like i said i think someone sat Bay down and told him to cut the crap with the dumb stuff. The dumb stuff is there sure but instead of it being dialed up to “10” is down to like “3”.

It was…a lot better than i thought it would be, which isn’t saying much coming off of the horrible second movie, but I actually enjoyed it, had a lot of good moments, it was funny, and the effects were top notch. Sure it had some god awful scenes and the story was weak, but it was entertaining enough.

The new chick was worthless though.

Yeah everything I really hated was toned WAY down: Annoying parents, stupid humor, excessive explosions for no reason.

I think if Bay is reigned in more he could do passable to good work, as evident here.

It’s not as bad as the 2nd one. But it’s still not a good movie. Honestly I just went in hoping I’d hate it less than the 2nd one so it accomplished that.

i like how a good portion of people hate the series…but they’ve essentially invested in the first two…so you gotta see the third.

But the thing is, I think the problem for those people is that they are going to go into the third movie with the “I hated ROTF” mindset which to me is gonna screw up them liking the movie or at the very least excepting that the movie is vastly improved. Then you got people who just are bandwagon hating and probably never even seen the movie or movies.

LoL, exactly. Might as well complete the whole set.

It’s left a bad taste in there mouth, can Iblame theme no. They should give it a chanvce. However, if Iwas burned twice, I wouldn’t try to help out on the third run, unless they did something right (which they did in this movie.)

HAHA I said heh he’s Kratos…he still looked dumb…and I would have prefferred Dinobots. Don’t think they even gave him a name. I’ll kall hime Ferrari F-Kratos.

They were in DC - Dinobots would be EASY to do since part of the movie took place on the Mall which is close enough to the smithsonian. Beyond that, it was a ‘world wide’ movie, so its not like they would have had to land in DC anyways.

After marinating on the movie for another day, I’m liking it less and less. It makes me want to sorta stand up and reboot the franchise, not as a shot at Michael Bay, just there were so many things that were done wrong - that made the things done right…worthless. The magnitude at which Megatron becomes second class to Optimus at the end of Rotf and is furthered here is just ridiculous. The choice of ‘autobots’ as well - I’m actually 100% fine with who was selected in the first movie. the second movie, I hated the twins. third movie, they injected new Autobots who IMO served no real purpose or fan service. Even if the Wreckers built up a name in the comic, most people don’t follow the comic AND they didn’t amount to anything in the movie anyway. they could have been cut out and replaced by human friends of the transformers and gotten the exact same ‘worthness’.
I look at how they ‘designed’ the transformers - I’m nbot in love with it as it was difficult to see who they were at times, and the color schemes weren’t as strong as they should have been on the decepticon side (come on at least give me some purple). But they did a smash up job with Devestator IMO (minus the scrotum sigh) and they could have easly one -upped it by doing the Dinobots. Hell with the strength of I think it was Grimmlock - being on par with Optimus, it would have made the last fight WAY more epic. I just can’t get over this dinobot aspect in this one as it just would have worked SO well with everything else.

Soundwave

Spoiler

Why the retcon? Why not let him maintain badassness as as a large satelite? why turn him into a SMALL Benz? He’s supposed to be on a level similar to Megatron and Shockwave, yet he got absolutly PUNKED. And wtf was up with Victoria Secret model>Megatron? This ninja planned all this shit decades prior, yet he switches up from a few choice words? GTFO.

Sounds like this is one i might bother seeing. I loved the first movie, it had its issues, but overall was a decent live-action transformers treatment that felt like a G1 flick. It got mixed reviews.

The second one was almost universally hated by fans. I made it a point not to see such garbage in theaters, and was quite disgusted when i later watched it on video.

This one however seems like a return to the first. Mixed reviews, with a lot more fans enjoying it.

To Hasbro, he’s Mirage. In the movie, his name is Dino (DEE-no), named after Ferrari founder’s son.

Grimlock is on of my favorite autobots, but to have a giant metal T-Rex in a giant robot movie can be either
A. EPICTICIOUS
B. Fan Wank from hell

I don’t see anyone touching that one unless its the final movie of a series or they are no longer dinosaurs.

You and I both have very similar views. Megatron wasn’t the MEGATRON that could have been. Huge gripe, but didn’t destroy it for me (I’m a Prime fan and was portrayed as bad ass). Megatron was the looming monster in movie 1, but I guess the Prime rape he dished out pissed off enough fans that Bay and Co. needed to correct it by making Optimus the Bot of War. The Wreckers in this movie were more the engineering team than the Autobot Special Forces unit that “we” know. Not used for more than a diversion for getting Prime’s trailer and did more action in vehicle mode than in robot. About the designs, most of them I actually like. ROTF did that silly shit with wheels and strange appendages, which I hated so most of the new characters in that movie I didn’t care for design wise .My bad examples are Starscream or any robot with a non humanoid appearance (sans Lazerbeak and Devastator sans nuts). This movie, the new characters went for a more traditional design element (Sentinel Prime, The Dreads, Mirage/Dino, Q/Wheeljack). You could tell color and have an idea of what they transformed into. I see you REEEALLY want the Dinobots in there. They could have been, but again, they wouldn’t have been Dinosaurs. Large, crazy Cybertronian epicness, sure, but wouldn’t look beyond that. Most fans surprisingly are indifferent about them being in the movie. The stance is that Its nice but why throw a Jurassic Park sequence into a Transformers movie. A large biped vs. any dinosaur could technically beat it. So, then you turn the size element up, but since in the “real world”, Transformers scan things of similar size. A T-rex is only about 13 ft tall at the hip. Meaning standing, it not more that 25 feet tall. Most of the bots can combat a threat at this size. The alt modes that you know would go to the wayside. Grimlock wouldn’t have the iconic tripod look as modern science proves that the tail doesn’t rest on the ground and it’s parallel when walking. I’m cool if they add them, but I don’t want them in there if its cause fans want it (IE Devastator, cause he literally just sucked).

Soundwave

Spoiler

Soundwave was brought down to Earth because . . . . fans wanted to see him in action. Having him as a Mercedes wasn’t the best choice for an alt mode (In ROTF he was originally slated to be a Silverado). I think he could have served a better purpose in space as the comm guy, but then we would have heard that he didn’t do anything except talk to people. We can’t win for losing
