Spoiler
What was the quote that Sentinel Prime stated? I knew that it was in there from a review I read, I just don’t recall it.
I saw the 8:30 yesterday…time to break down - shhould be no real spoilers below…
I’m not in love with it at all. I think I actually got more enjoyment out of RoTF true story. However, before you think I’m hating or its baseless, let me explain. This movie - to me - feels as though someone sat Bay down and said these are the negatives your getting bashed with. We want another Transformers movie but fix these things. So Bay went out and REDID ROTF, took out the stuff he is often critisized for (for instance his military hard on was handled PERFECTLY in this film, and not a dominate 10 minutes worth of screen time), and in its place…added more ‘Bay’. There are several times in the film, where we see Shia get out of a yellow car with his look at the sunset gaze…oh and his girl does…wait just about every human gets out the car and gazes at the sunset in slow motion. It was fine early on, but by the end of the movie, it has lost its shine, and thes the sign of the bigger issue I take…
It felt like more of the same, without the bad.
There were no new transformers short of the wreckers, Shockwave, Laser beak, and Sentinel Prime. There were hundreds of more Xformers in the movie…none of them decipherable, and muplte palette swaps like an old school beat-em up. Of those new Wreckers were a waste as I don’t even recall them in a fight scene. I have to tip my hat to positives though…Shockwave looked AWESOME, of all the characters, he more than any other transformer past or present…LOOK like a futuristic/modern interpretation of how they looked in the show/comic. Turn him purple, and turn the curves straight and you’d have shockwave.
The movie also went back to Xformer 1 - where the decepticons meet like ‘once’ and thats about the end of the dialogue between them all…so that feeling from the first - where there is almost a blind dettachment from the decepticons is back…whats worse is this is true for the autobots as well - if you aren’t Prime or Bumblebee…don’t expect to say much…you are NOT getting a Leader Class toy this summer. The movie - again was Prime Porn. Yes I say that as an avid fan of Megatron - but I do understand the masses being interested in him, just kind of sucks to suck all that money into other autobts and decepticons with such a rich backstory…and NEVER touch it. I still don’t get why bumblebee and Sam are ‘friends’ outside of the whole ‘saved his life’ thing.
I saw the movie in 3D…meh. I actually LIKE 3D, did research on stereoscopic tech in college, and wish I had Avatar in 3D, so I’m not haitng on 3D, just saying that it doesn’t bring anything to the table for the movie and becomes a bit of a distraction. Its unneccessary and I’d recommend just seeing the film the good ol fashioned 2-D way…your wasting your money otherwise.
Don’t get my opinion twisted, it should be a ‘mildly’ entertaining summer movie, but at damn near 3 hours, most of which center around humans, and with no character development short of Optiumus Prime wearing his ‘don’t fuck with me’ look thru the whole movie…I can’t sit here and pretend the end of the series lives up to any real level of a Transformers trilogy expectation.
Fan-Boy Alert/Portion…
Why the Wreckers? I know for a fact that the Dinobots have been one of the MOST requested set of Transformers, and are one of the most popular sets, AND they would have worked EXTREMELY well during the fight scenes and overall styling of the movie…I even think they would translate EXTREMELY well to the modern look…but theWreckers and a couple more ‘sport cars’? At one point in the movie (one of the scenes spammed in the commercial (and one of the most intense scenes - where Shia, and co are in the office building thats under attack), Tyrese yells somethign about “Why do the Decepticons get all the good shit” (referencing the worm that was eating the building up). That is EXACTLY how I feel. Thru the Trilogy we’ve seen all different sizes and shapes for the Decepticons, but the Autobots have ALL been…cars and trucks…well there was a motorcycle in RoTF. No planes. No dinosaurs. No bases. Nothing that formed together. Cars. Deceoticons (I don’t want to spoil anything), but lets just say they’ve complete surpassed the Autobots with regards to finding thigns to transform into. Laserbeak > autobots IMO.

[spoiler=spock shenanigans]
“the means of the many far outweigh the means of the few” is a spock quote from one of the star trek movies. i literally was the only person who got it…you could audibly hear my laugh.
He looked like Brotha Man from the 5th flo’ to me heh I kept doing a double take. I was very pleased with that portion myself.
People in my theatre got the Star Trek references there were like 3 I think.
- :bluu:
we literally have been saying that shit since kids…especially the min we realized…autobots cant fly.
its why Megatron > Prime…he turns into a fucking GUN …optimus is a truck… :arazz:
- :bluu:
optimus and his dissapearing trailer. i always imagine optimus’s trailer goes to the same dimension that the end of spidey’s webbing from the fox spider-mans cartoon goes to.
Well in this movie his trailer had a use finally

Spoiler
Basically it was a weapons depot for him and it also looked like it stored the jetfire package he was rockin in the second movie.
Checked it out in IMAX/3D lastnight. I won’t bother posting spoilers until it’s okay to freely discuss and analyze the movie, but I’ll say this much:
It was better than ROTF in the sense that it didn’t feel rushed, but I suppose that’s not really saying a whole lot. Still a lot of flaws regarding the plot and Autobot/Decepticon characterization. A few characters felt wasted, but that’s been a common problem with this movie series. There’s humor (some of it hit or miss), but it was toned down (again, that’s not saying much). I didn’t find it nearly as distracting as in ROTF. Annoying and useless characters weren’t as prevalent, either.
Watch it for the action sequences, special effects, and the Transformers themselves. If you’re looking for a seamless plot, then you’re going to be disappointed, but you ought to be accustomed to this by now. There’s a nice little twist, though.
Overall, I give it 7 thumbs out of 10. I think it’s on par with the first, but not better.
p.s. I don’t really hate Michael Bay, but I wouldn’t mind seeing the franchise get a film reboot with another director down the road.
I actually agree with you. To me, it just seemed like the biggest focus was better views of the Transformers transforming. You could actually tell what was going on, which was kinda nice (especially considering how drunk I was), rather than seeing a billion randomly moving random parts. That movie was a looooooong movie too, and the end kinda seemed to just drag out. I think 1/3 of that movie was just autobots moving in slo mo. And why is everybody so thrilled with the new girl? I facepalmed every time she tried to ‘act’. All she was was semi decent eye candy, making the duck face in every shot, climbing in and out of fancy cars. I actually DID like Megan Fox more. She was hotter, seemed more down to earth, acted WAY better, and did more than just seem like she was hired to date Shia the Beef.
Yeah, this pissed me off. A fuckton of transformers, with no names. Just “generic robot that gets cut in half #12”. And blimps. What the fuck was with the blimps?
I did enjoy Shockwave, although he seemed a little off to me.
Bumblebee was a joke in this movie, don’t kid yourself. So was Megatron. I was REALLY disappointed at how fucking pathetic he was in this movie.
Probably my biggest gripe. Early on, they had one or two scenes that looked nice, but fuck anybody who thinks this 3D was that good. I should’ve saved my money, and saw it in 2D.
yeah, the length, combined with the lackluster story, combined with the fact this seems like Bay just wanted to show Decepticons and Autobots battle non stop, combined with the fact that I am starting to HATE Sam and his fucking parents, just made this seem to still be a ROTF type movie. I ain’t saying its a complete waste, but got DAMN was I disappointed when I left the theatre.
Yeah, still puzzled over why the Dinobots have yet to show up
The Wreckers are actually very popular among the TF fandom (comics). Despite this, they’re a pretty obscure addition to this movie. I’m not sure how this version compared to their original comic counterparts, outside of some shared names and the fact that they’re armed to the teeth.
The Wreckers were probably featured to help cross-advertise Nascar. And they didn’t include the Dinobots due to giant dinosaurs functioning as a ‘disguise’ not being very logical… yet they have a giant scorpion.
I didn’t see the movie. Do they explain where Optimus gets his jetwing backpack? The one where he spins around with two blades in the trailers? It looks different from the upgrade he got from Jetfire.
Thanks Maxx, I thought that was it
@Unreallystic - I must admit that I agree with you. In all honesty, you can forget about ROTF for the most part with this the major plot details added to the movie. Even though its basically more of the same, its definitely the best of the 3. Too bad ROTF came before it.
About the Dinobots, it won’t work. Unless the were in Orlando and scanned the animatronics, it wouldn’t work. They would be the characters as an homage, but no giant metal T-Rex. They’d be called The Dyno-bots, more than likely being a military force to be reconed with, alt modes similar to stealth force, but on earth military technology
From what I have been reading, there is not as much Nerd Rage related to this movie.
this movie was boss i liked all 3 i seen the 9pm release in 3d it was 2hrs and 35 min was a great movie i enjoyed it
My only gripes were…

Spoiler
They killed Ironhide, Megatron went out like a bitch, and the RC triplets did not return even though they were alive at the end of RotF. As for Skidz/Mudflaps, I would have appreciated an explanation done in the way they explained away Megan Fox’s exclusion from DotM.
