While I’m not necessarily defending the quality of the live-action movies, I do think that it makes sense for the films to focus more on the humans, for budgetary reasons. To have semi-realistic-looking robot aliens with hundreds(?) of moving parts… I would imagine that it is extremely expensive to have done. Sure, you can have films that are entirely cg, like ToyStory or Advent Children, but they are more cartoony stylized. What happened when Final Fantasy Spirits Within came out and it flopped? It fucked Square over bigtime.
They could make a transformers movie with non-realistic cg, I wouldn’t object to that idea. Cameron’s Avatar film had a ton of cg, but obviously Transformers wouldn’t get a budget that huge.
Just cause its almost like the previous movie doesn’t mean it is especially since early reviews have indicated that this movie is hugely better than ROTF.
You’re probably right but it is a Spielberg-backed production with ILM SFX. It’s arguably the best digital FX team, with the most resources, of any active movie franchise.
Well got my tickets for the Tueday early showing. Movie seems more focused than 2. Seems like the battles are improved as well. Definitely anxious to see any additional autobots that are in this as well.
well I’m leaning towards seeing midnight showing or something…need something to look forward to. And the reviews sounds pretty honest, they didn’t actl ike its the great thing since sliced bread, and everything they’ve said I’ve heard elsewhere, so here is to hoping.
Well the Megatron thing is a HUGE turn off for me as he was my name sake ‘back in the day’ (hell I used ot go by DJ Megatron). But unless my son has a bad reaction to his first round of shots - then I’m going to see the 8:30 or 9:00pm showing in 3D tomorrow.
but come on man…they got ALL that technology, and they couldn’t at least give him a metal plate to ‘look’ like his face? Giv me a dremel and 100 square feet of thin sheet metal and I’ll have him looking good as new instead of all 'phantom of the Matrix’y
My girl is gonna pick up our tickets in a bit for the 9:00PM showing tomorrow night. I was gonna skip the midnight showing because I get up early for work but then bam I saw a 9:00 and 9:45 showing. FUCK YEAH!!! I’ll post my thoughts come Wed.
Looking at Arrundel Mills since I moved ot that side of the beltway - I’m in laurel its like a 10 - 15 minute drive. Only thing cockblocking me is my son had shots today so we have to watch him closely today/tomorrow, so if something starts acting up I won’t be able to go for “Family Man” reasons…otherwise I’ll just line up a little early to get a decent seat and thats that.
I think the one thing handicapping this movie is gonna be people who already hate the series. Like if the reviews are right and the movie is finally what we wanted out of the series, then i don’t think it’ll make a difference. People are still gonna want to see a straight Transformer movie minus humans.
