You’re gonna have to teach those other Juri players how to play her then.
I usually win matches only using 3 or 4 kunais. There’s a few matchups like vs fireball zoners like Ryu or Nash where I feel more compelled to use more than 3 or 4 kunais, but depending on where they are on screen and what meter they have you can get away with a reload somewhere usually if you really need it.
Some characters like Zangief you’ll be able to reload against pretty often. Unless he has V Trigger it’ll most likely be viable to do a charged kunai release and build back up 3 or 4 to zone him again.
Anyone have the frame data for Ibuki all neatly compiled everywhere? I can only really find the initial data mines, which are clunky to read and some aren’t even complete.
GG’s @serpentaurus Those were some good sets. Connection was pretty good except for a few rollbacks at random moments that threw me off. You started to get better with your pressure and counter hit game as the sets went on. I play a lot more of a wait and bait approach, but I don’t think that’s going to work vs other Ibukis or rushdown type characters. The one time you’re off they’re in and probably gonna stay in for a while other than V Reversal or EX DP. I like that you were starting to get comfortable using the V Skill also. It’ll take a while before people perfect when and where to use it, but I think it’s really important to beat some characters buttons and get V Trigger earlier.
I was surprised at how well you did vs my Chun also. I could usually get space vs M00n’s Ibuki, but you always found a way to stay in. Part of the problem is I’m also terrible at anti airs still, but I’ll work on that. Ibuki is the only character I’m like somewhat comfortable AAing with, but I need to have that b+MP ready for those really sudden jumps that you can’t heavy AA in time. Vega is always a tough match for my Chun so that was a tough set for me. Got too nervous and dropped combos I usually don’t. We’ll have to play more.
Yeah deviljin those were some nice sets. Im surprised you managed to beat my ibuki in one of the four sets i used her, honestly i rarely ever lose when using her or vega xD
I know what chun can do coming from my matchup experience with vega but im still very unfamiliar with ibuki patterns even though i main her, need more muscle memory for the matchup, one thing is learning the setups and tricks and other one is blocking them.
About vskill, it is ibuki best button, but involve more risks than her other buttons so i get more confortable using it as i learn more about the other player patterns. I think ibuki neutral is better at long sets than short sets for that reason. In short sets her rushdown is better though, no one is ready for those teleports xD
Makes sense. She definitely has the pressure game to just get people out of there rather than being overly reliant on neutral. I wanna have both as strong as I can have them though incase there are players or matchups where just pressing forward alone won’t cut it.
There was definitely a few times that I swore I block EX kunai into MK command dash cross, but the game told me I did not. LOL. Could be something that knocking down the 8 frames will help with.
Still has the same uses as sf4 ibuki slide, it’s a tool to get under fireballs, it’s useful for positioning and it’s frame advantageous on hit if spaced right.
I think the slide is good. Not as good as sf4 but pretty useful.
I’ am only an hour and 10mins into it, but I’ve already found a couple of gems in here, like a couple of good Left Right mix ups / resets after CC bonsho, and how b.mp can be a surprisingly good whiff punish tool. I’ll update after I finish the whole thing if there is anything else that jumps out at me.
One thing I’ve noticed about her v-skill is that you can use it as a ghetto way to keep applying pressure when negative on block. Say you’ve done any of these blocked f+hk at range, st.mk, c.mk or f+mk.
You can use the uncharged v-skill here to dodge and whiffpunish your opponent if they are pressing buttons, you can even activate into super to close games with it. I’ve been playing around with this and it works really well.
You can do a meaty after EX DP. Dash forward, st.HP only if they do normal recovery. They could possibly whiff punish you with a cr.mk or sweep if they do back recovery.
While bomb combo’s are cool and all, I just can’t help but think using a lot of v-reversals is the way to go. It really helps you control the pace of the match and safe to certain mix-ups. Not to mention getting the grey-life hit conversion isn’t too hard with a kunai poke.
Whenever I have full v-trigger I feel like I’m always fishing for something to get the bomb out, making me take risks when I’ am already low on HP.
I’m not very good at this lab stuff, but I wonder if we get any legit oki options after a v-reversal knock down
