"Train harder!" - Ibuki Street Fighter V Discussion

Oh ok cool that should be fine then. I’m bout to hit the bed for the night, but I’ll play some tomorrow.

Alright.

On topic, it sucks how all those american pros are referring to ibuki as a low tier character. She’s been out one month, and america barely even knows about technical characters. They can only win with ken, karin and nash, why are they deeming ibuki as bad again?

Oh, because the top characters have good damage, good pokes, good options. And because ibuki doesn’t have all of these traits, she’s deemed bad. Remember that she’s thrown under the bus- it’s not like it has happened from previous games (Kappa). Ibuki, I feel like she can be a special case to the point where her tier is ‘?’, I believe it comes down to the player skills. It’s probably because they haven’t seen anything special about what she can do other then bomb stuff. She needs resources in order to do damage. Something like that.

I don’t read social media much so I don’t really know what the pros are saying about much any of the characters. Unless someone posts what they say here I usually don’t even know.

It’s not just American pros. The Ibuki of SFIV himself Sako also said she felt low tier and Infiltration thinks she’s ass too. This is just initial impressions since how good your buttons are is really important in this game and her buttons just aren’t as good as the other higher tier characters as far as for strictly poking. it’s a very buttony game so that’s what pros are looking at first for good characters.

With that said I think when people find out how her walk speed and V Skill allows her to counter button presses really well and set up her own offense, they’ll find her stronger. She actually walks faster than most of the people with good buttons any way. Her kunais give her a lot of strong tools that if you know how to manage, can create nasty situations. People will definitely also start bitching about her when they realize a lot of her combos only allow the opponent to neutral tech or throw them into a free air meaty with no tech available to them. With how tough it is for some of the characters to reliably meaty people after knockdown combos, people are definitely going to hate how free her meaties are after a lot of the things she lands.

M00n Tiger that’s a really good find… everyone I play eats the shit out of it… I wasn’t getting any mileage from frame traps and meaty grabs after st lk…

The initial plan is to use one ex kunai to get up close to safely pressure, St.lk xx mk dash then do st mk TC if I don’t have any Meter. Or St.mp vtrigger…

Mid screen it’s really good as well

Can anyone help me out as a Ibuki player vsing boxer/balrog? I can’t seem to get in at all. Everyone keeps mashing jabs, and boxers normals are kinda stupid against Ibuki I’ve found out. How should I go about punishing that, and how should the Ibuki vs boxer/balrog match up go? I’ve been playing since the start of street fighter but just now actually gotten serious about learning how to play so any tips help

When ever i find myself losing to buttons like that, i start using more bonsho kicks and v-skills, or the random nuetral jump if they are pushing my space too hard.

Landing a cc bonsho kick really starts claming the opponent up

Take it with a grain of salt though, im just a silver shark grinding up my skills

This video by Prophecie helped a lot in knowing what was possible against Balrog.

I haven’t fought a lot of Boxer yet. All of his regular dash punches are neg on block. I remember facing a few and finding his buttons annoying to deal with. You will definitely have to throw in some v skill, but just be weary of his projectile invincible v skill.

The easy way to explain the match up would be to get him on his back or get near him with V trigger. Can most likely turn the game around easy due to having no special reversal.

Anyone want to play some mirrors sometimes? My Ibuki is still lacking tricks. My CFN: Halite_Tears

@M00nTiger Let me know when you want to play. Should be on for a little bit tonight and more over the weekend.

@serpentaurus same thing. Lemme know or message me on PSN whichever.

@“DevilJin 01” down to play whenever. Is there a way to insta message you?

@M00nTiger
Just message me on PSN. PervyJin01

I play on PC. But I’m getting on right now.

@M00nTiger ok I’ll just send you invite in a bit

Very GG’s. Your Ibuki is definitely better than mine. Your frame traps were more solidified and you showed me that my timing for command dash pressure after EX kunai is really off. I had to switch to Chunners just to win sets off of you. I still have to work on my throw tech game since I generally don’t throw tech that often and Ibuki’s walk speed and grab range are too good to not have techs ready sometimes. We’ll have to get more in for sure.

GG’s! Yeah I’ve noticed you don’t tech throws. Her throw is a lot better in the corner since you can get a meaty cr.mp and ghetto throw loops if I get the read.

I need to work on my 3f frame traps. My frame traps were mostly 4f (st.mp,cr.mp) and farther range cr.mp xx ex kunai isn’t a true blockstring and can catch 3f buttons. The reason why I barely use st.mk after st.mp is because it can whiff at farther ranges which can be very annoying, but I’m starting to see the ranges where it could work since you did a lot of st.mk frame traps, especially from st.lp. We both also need to work on our Sako VT bomb setup. They all landed in front lol. Some days it’s just off for me that I think I need to warm up that sequence every day for at least 5 minutes.

Also convert every f.HK CC to HK DP! The way I practiced it for the first time was just doing it in training mode. Random block on dummy helps. I also started with buffering DP motion the first times I was trying to confirm. Eventually, you’re going to get used to it and won’t have to buffer DP motion anymore and you can just react to CC.

I’m down to play more soon. Chun looks tough to deal with so far when she gets in. I’d like to get the matchup down.

Man, why does ibuki gotta to be so cool? Juri is so much easier to be effective with lol.

W/e gonna stick it out with buksters.

If you guys are looking for someone to watch, MajorBoy19 is fucking ridiculous

It’s good that you’re finding Juri easy to be effective with, because I’m seeing old SFIV Juri mains and just other random people literally breaking down and crying over how different/difficult she is. FengShui went into the general thread literally cussing people out over his trouble with her LOL. They gotta Shia Lebouf that shit. JUST DO IT!

I’ve been playing Ibuki for years so as long as I can hit s.LP, s.MK and f+HK it feels like Ibuki.

It is pretty funny lol. Her resource charge is like 3 times faster, and you can add it into block strings or combos. Its also not even near as big of a role that kunais play. Meanwhile we can get rekt trying to reload just 1 kunai at full screen lol.

Not to mention how much more lax timing is for her combos that start off at a much greater range. I mean, its not like shes a nash or cammy but to call her hard to play feels so wrong after playing ibuki.
