TourneyPlay presents PNW Fighter Series I - SSF4, Brawl, N64 Smash - Aug 21st 2010

Considering I hate being restricted, I’m going to make the 3v3 teams rules pretty open.

Tournament wars season one style (winner stays on). One set, 3 out of 5 matches. NO CHARCTER LOCKS. NO OCV rule. You cant change characters mid-set.

well i’m trying to make a 3s team for fun, doubt i could beat up carlos’s cammy. right now its just chuns and viper, if i can’t fill in the 3rd spot i’ll probably just participate in the singles tourney

Why no Chara locks?

Devo- Freedom of choice

That’s fine with me. I can team up with anyone, just want to play next weekend.

Ehhhh. Character locks is a must IMO, cause I really don’t wanna see counter picks all day. That’s what singles if for correct?

There’s hardly even counterpicks in this game. Go play ST and complain about counterpicks. Kek.

Okay the flyest, speak for yourself.

So if you are going to do no character locks. It should be mandatory to have blind select on player start and character. That way after first person goes, people are free to counterpick without any set backs.

question 1) Can you switch ultras between players?
2) is it winner stays? If its not winner stays and its old evo rules, then blind select across the board and my first question doesnt matter.
3) so each player plays a 3 out of 5 rounds/1 game? or 2 out of 3 rounds/3 out of 5 games?

Just trying to be clear.

As for tournament rules I would like to voice my opinion:
-No Character Lock
-Blind Select forced on 1v1 and 3v3

  • as for 3v3, blind select on team(player) order as well
-for the 1v1, 2/3 2/3 should suffice…2/3 rounds, first player to win two games advances. Finals 3/5, Grand Finals 4/7.
-for the 3v3, 3/5 rounds, 1 game per player, pokemon(?) style: Two players face off, the loser is eliminated from his team, then the next person (in previously determined order) from the losing team fights the winner. Repeat until one team is eliminated, winning team advances. Finals/Grand Finals remain in the same format to save time. This is actually the origional TW format. I liked it. Maybe, based on time, have Grand Finals be a 3/5 rounds, first team to beat the opposing team twice wins (2/3).
  • Winner can switch his Ultra between players at will. I see no reason to force the use of a single ultra the entire match.
  • Blind select forced between players on 3v3. This increases the odds that the winner will stay with the same character imo, while giving the guy from the losing team the option of choosing a character to Counter-Pick the winner, or choosing another character he planned on playing anyways. I think since most people know each other anyways, the general idea of which character you will face is pretty prominent. This also gives new faces a psychological edge to work with, as regulars will be unfamiliar with their character choice.

I have no opinion on N64 Smash.

Imo the Singles tournament should be ran first, and be considered the Main Event. Team Tourney is great, but I think it’s too easy to stack teams, so there is a greater chance that stacked teams will overcome.

Wow n64 smash!? I’m fucking in there

Ideally, depending on whats set up to stream, this is how I’d like to do it.

Top 8 for singles super4 gets streamed, top 4 for 3v3 teams gets streamed.

I do not know if I am taking care of Smash, but if you want me on that boat, I have no problems with that. As long as my stuff is respected.

So there is no chars lock In teams wow

Edit: me and pito need a new 3v3 partner our friend is sailing to the San juan islands next Friday so hit me up on here or on xbox live if you want to see If were on the level

After much thought, the rules for 3v3 will be :

-Blind Select forced, blind select on team(player) order as well
-for the 3v3, 3/5 rounds, 1 game per player: Two players face off, the loser is eliminated from his team, then the next person (in previously determined order) from the losing team fights the winner.

  • Blind select forced between players on 3v3.

Thanks Grrk dope rule set :woot:

Hope more teams enter.

Aaron, are you and Kevin rolling up here?

Yes we are good sir

Wow, looks like my plans are changing from ‘not going’ to ‘going’ now. Can’t pass up an opportunity to kick it with the out-of-state brothers.

Very nice!
Looking forward to kicking it with you.
If only I was 21 we could roll out to a bar before we leave for Oregon.

This will be the first recorded/streamed SF event in a while. The world thinks we lost power =[

And don’t worry, there will be plenty more teams signed up at the event.People are hyped and 3v3 is super cheap to enter.
