You don’t see any irony in telling people to respect the opinion of others and then in the same post tell people their opinion is wrong? Maybe you don’t know what irony means, so lets try a new word. Hypocrisy.
Thats just the thing though, thats a completely subjective statement because for starters what are we comparing it to?
Very true, I wish marvel played like it did in the 90s instead of playing like one of the worst fighters Ive played in years. SF4 plays a bit more true to its origins but in a bad way, essentially acting as a "SF for dummies"which serves as a stepping stone to the better games of the the series past.
So you are both saying that SSF4 and MVC3, two games that were campaigned as Going back to their roots(even though MVC never left them), play nothing like their original 90’s counterparts?
Well then I guess I have nothing left to say, I’ll see myself out.
I think he ment how you said how everyone is entitled to their opinion only to past judgment telling people which game was good or not based on your opinion or “expertise”.
I’m against having Kratos for tournaments and I have both consoles. No need to repeat the reasons, since everyone else already stated them. To be honest, this issue is what made it difficult for me to decide on a specific version (I have both consoles).
After I heard the likelihood of Kratos getting banned, I immediately bought the 360 version because EVERY 360 version of the new fighting games runs better than it’s PS3 counterpart on a technical level:
SSF4: No input lag, better graphics
MVC3: No random slowdown
MK9: No random slowdown
MK9 has slowdown issues on the PS3 when a trophy pops up, and has random slowdown during X-Ray moves which is absent in the 360 version. So based on a purely technical perspective, the 360 version is already superior just like with the other 2 main games.
I don’t count online because I’m mainly an offline player.
Well it helps if you read and understand the context of my comments. So to help, I’ll quote myself here.
SSF4 plays a lot like ST. Obviously they aren’t exactly the same, that wasn’t my point. My point was it is a 2D(or 2.5 if you want to get technical, but it plays as a 2D) fighting game with very similar elements to its earlier versions(IE: SF2). Same with MvC3, obviously MvC3 has distinct differences but to argue that it doesn’t play like its 90’s counter part is flat out wrong. Same with MK9, it has enhancements, but it is similar to UMK3.
I don’t mean this as a derogatory comment about these games as I enjoy them, but if anyone else wants to jump in to defend SSF4 or MvC3 against this statement because they feel if they don’t then somehow their time investment in these games won’t mean as much, feel free. I think I’ve made my point
Edit: Oh, by the way. Just to humor you

I was going against your Daigo comment. The rest of my post referenced the disadvantage the PS3 character creates. Daigo’s “disadvantage” against console characters was his own fault. The game was readily available in Japan, it’s just that no one played it. All characters were available on all systems. That’s different from MK’s situation where a character is only available on one system
And please try to find 3 more hussies and bring them to our roulette table.
Joe is full of it. I loved his lesson on accepting other people’s opinions, and then he turns around and straight up trolls MK as if his opinion is fact. I’m not even sure what this thread had to do with the quality of MK in the first place. And then he says, “the MK community seems to have a lot of hate for other more popular games too”… Hmmmm, I wonder why!? Thanks for the course in Trolling 101 dude
And yeah, Renegade can do whatever he wants at his tournaments. Doesn’t mean his opinion is worthwhile.
I actually looked at this the complete opposite of the way it was meant to be received, but I feel it actually makes more sense this way:
SSFIV and MvC3 play nothing like their nineties counterparts, and both games manage to be complete ass. MvC3 looks like ass, plays like ass, and has a general online player base that’s just complete ass. SSFIV on the other hand may be solid, tight-knit, impossibly popular ass, but it’s still an absolutely positively unfun pile of ass.
There’s a reason fighters from the nineties aged so well, and still manage to be both fun and well-liked. Whether or not this line of thought applies to MK9 is yet to be seen in the long run, but for the time being I’d say it’s doing everything right that modern fighters keep doing wrong.
… Except netcode, they’re still having some trouble with that, apparently.
