TournamentWars Final @ Bloody Knuckles - 02/28/10

you know, this is pretty fucked up. so, i couldnt join tournament wars because of my work schedule. now, i cant even watch matches because its AT my work and niggas wanna “make me work harder” near the end of my shift, when im tryna get out so i can be a part of it.

i work 4-1130pm. kitchen closes at 10. if everyone comes in at around 930ish, that means, im cooking til 10ish. the other cook leaves at 10, so, if there are orders, hes gonna have to help me cook, thus not completing his side of the closing duties and i have to finish them so he doesnt stay past his scheduled hours. understand that, also, jacob is the dishwasher, and that means he has to WAIT til all the dishes come back so he can get his closing routine done.

coming before and ordering before 930pm is fine. but if you wanna be fucked up, ok, come and order food hella close to before kitchen closes.

edit: and even though im clocked out, im still at work helping out by running glasses, making last calls, telling people to close out their tabs. im not getting paid extra. so the “might have to do some extra work” im already doing. all im asking is for some decency, considering i hooked it up with the venue FOR FREE.

Josh, I’m not tryin to step on anyone’s toes or anything like that. And I understand how it is closing up shop and having to dirty up stuff again after you’ve cleaned it because people want to order something.

You’re right you got us the venue and it’s free, words cannot express how thankful I (or team seattle for that matter) are for this… But we also have to hold up our end of the bargain too by bringing in revenue. Last week we didn’t hit our quota by 8 bucks. That’s a u call it and a beer, or probably something from the restraunt. And for BW to truly back the event we need to have better numbers than what we are pushing right now. Which is why I think Jodo’s idea is great because it gets people in there at 6ish so they can go and spend a little more with food and drinks etc.

The point of my post wasn’t to have people show up at 9:30 to order food.

If you’re really hell bent on not wanting us to buy food after 9:30 so be it. Just remember that that’s extra money that could be going towards BW getting TW’s console’s etc. etc. (of course this factor will be a non-factor once the hot dog machine comes in)

In regards to you not being able to enter Tournament Wars, when Tekken was going through sign ups, I saved a team slot for you and Jacob, and even asked if you guys were interested in joining. You both turned it down because some days you want to go out and kick it on a Saturday night. Totally understandable. Even for Season 2 you guys are more than welcome to enter, I can work the schedule out so you can play at a later time. But there was never a time where you couldn’t enter TournamentWars except for SFIV, and that was because when you had to bow out we didn’t have BW as a venue yet.

I’m not tryin to start any beef or anything like that. Your my boy, and as I mentioned before TW’s would be nothing if it weren’t for you, Fae, and Jacob. I know you want to see TW’s get up to the point where we can have those $1000 prize pools for single tournaments. I know I would love to see that, we just need to have more revenue come in. And getting that revenue is what is really stressing me out more than anything else.

No one knows how frustrated I get when I see people that can drink chose not to drink or contribute towards the venue. I understand that ppl have matches and don’t want to be buzzed or anything while playing (I know I don’t). And personally, I don’t like to drink. But I’ll throw down 12 bucks for 2 u call its (or 6 bucks for 2 beers) and feel good with enough time to sober up before I get on the road. Last week was super frustrating cause we had a lot of people there, but due to Double Headers, those that usually drink a good amount didn’t want to because they had games to play. So seeing a somewhat full room and not see barely anyone walk back to the bar was discouraging. And I feel that the same thing is going to happen on Dec. 5th cause we have 4 teams doing double headers (TDP, FC, SA, and TFB)

To those that don’t drink, get someone else a drink if you’d like. Hell get your opponents sauced up if you feel it’s an advantage towards your team ;).

I guess I’ll just put it like this. You guys see what lies at the end of the rainbow here. At least you should cause I’ve been talking about it to as many people as possible.

MATCHED POTS MATCHED POTS MATCHED POTS!

Think about it, if BW matched SFIV’s season 1 entry fee that’s another $1680 (total pot of $3360), there’s no way I’d take that and have a $1000 budget to go towards

medals
trophies
customized TE sticks
DVDs
Better commentary equpiment
Streamed events, etc.
Flyers
Radio spots
TV spots
Televised Events
I wouldn’t even need that much, I mean I could take $2500 of that and still have $800 and some change left over to work with for all those things, and there would still be mad money left over for everyone to fight for (for a $2500 prize pool, that’d be what? $375 for 3rd, $625 for 2nd and $1500 for 1st?)

I know times are tough, economy fucking sucks, I’m not asking you to put the house up on the market or to sell you car. just 6-12 bucks everytime you’re there. There are people that are doing WAY more than that please believe. I want to make TournamentWars into something big and noteworthy not only to Seattle, but across the country. I might have that oppertunity to really get the word out about the event in the near future, and while things are going well right now, it’s still not where I want it to be at, and the only way I can even start on really making this something special is through Best Western backing the event.

There are some people that still think I’m doing this for the wrong reasons. There are still some individuals out there that are badmouthing TournamentWars. Let me say that I DO KNOW WHO YOU ARE, am I mad about it? no. Honestly I’m more saddened about it because this person came up to me personally and privately and extended much gratitude for what I was doing. To have this person go behind that gesture and talk down about the event makes me dissapointed, and when I was told this, I was really hurt by that.

I guess I’m just running out of ideas and ways to show BW that this truly is something they should back.

I’d like to talk to you about this stuff Frank. I think that you have a lot of things that your not thinking about.

im just saying. i love to play when im fucked up, try it out! you will probably suck for a while but if you keep at it it gets way better. i actually play better when im loaded because it calms my nerves but when im too fucked up i dont react to everything. either way the shit is great

anyways bring childrens books and get drunk. if at the least bring a couple bucks for soda and a hot dog

I find it hard not to spend $20-30 each time I go to TWz. Sure, you could spend the money elsewhere but it is actually kind of nice to kick it with gamers in a not so gamer environment. You know, like socialize and shit like normal people. I think I even passed out for a bit during a match because SFIV has that effect, but I am still there getting sauced and having a good time. It seems like the crowd has actually increased in size so why we fail to reach the quota is messed up. If we all do our part there should be no problem at all. Go hard.

How is the food in the restaurant? I figure if I’m gonna show up early for singles, I might as well grab dinner.

Don’t worry Josh, this would be earlier since I’m not trying to fuck up closing for you

realtalk@truth.com

thats what i said… i agree with Pablo and I’m sure a lot of people who go out clubbing understand that the bar at BW is not REALLY expensive at all! 3 dollars for beers? thats chump change. go to a club and a beer is what? 8-10 bucks? plus tip! i find myself having a hard time to spend 20-30 bucks and i tip at least 5-10 bucks and i dont even make good money! just save a few bucks during the week and you are good.

Hell yeah! Please believe that Elias the Flyest is always accepting Tournament Wars Support. I am down for the cause. Support the scene guys.

I would like to second this. I encourage others to buy me alcohol at any given opportunity. For the scene.

:rofl::rofl:

Mike D always buys someone a drink…I just wish it were my turn more often.

Yeah I think I just handed Elias a drink. Didn’t ask for it or anything. That is just how I get down.

Like Jeff said though, BW when compared to all other bars is dirt cheap. Others do not even come close. Those of you under 21 probably can’t sympathize yet, but when you are at a bar and you pay $8 for a fucking Budweiser you will know real quick what I am talking about.

So to break it down, two to three drinks is really not that serious. That is not even cover at a lot of places.

ahahah I missed this before. I’m down for that.

Hell yeah, you’re a G. It was extra raw because I had been drinking gin and tonics already that night and you just like knew to get G&Ts. Get outta my head!

Pablo’s mindgames extend beyond the realm of Street Fighter.

I too would not mind people buying me more drinks. Drunk Fuerte is hilarious to watch, atleast it is for me when I am playing cause I have no idea wtf he’s doing but he does it in style.

I will be buying MUCH more after moving out, and if I get a new job, I’ll be buying even MORE than that. I’ll have weekends off, meaning no Sunday morning work!

I will buy a couple beers if I can this weekend, money is FUCKING tight at the moment.

I’m not made of money but I always bring enough to buy two or three people drinks plus a tip for Fae.

We’re getting the venue for free and that’s an act of god right there, so you gotta support the venue even if you can’t do it directly, ya know?

Yeah, if we aern’t hitting numbers I wouldn’t be surprised if we are forced to start paying 5$/night or something.

Lol, try adding a couple zeros to that 5. If it’s a nice place like a restaurant, they aren’t going to just skip out and take a $5 bill for the use of their facilities.

I meant 5$/night PER person as a sort of entry/venue fee just for going. Like, we give 5$/night to Frank who puts it in a the Fae tip jar.
