TournamentWars Final @ Bloody Knuckles - 02/28/10

Sounds pretty fair, priority to one or the other each week, but i there is 8 or less for the priority game we run both.

Yes, but this half flipper ain’t watching that shit. Your match is rescheduled for Dec. 5th.

Btw, I hate double headers, double headers actually make ppl drink WAY LESS than normally.

Let’s hope those teams not playing on Dec. 5th come out to watch there are going to be a lot of good matches going down on Dec. 5th.

But yeah this pre funk singles tournament idea i’m really liking. People just need to come out and enter.

If we get 8+ people that say they will come out I will plan on being there early and bringing my 360 and getting this started.

Week 1 of TWs single will happen this Saturday if people are interested. Tourney will start @ 7PM - that should still give us around an hour or so before TWs starts of breathing room.
Won’t have commentary or anything to start for this one, but I might be able to setup direct-feed recording as long as we are using a Component setup.

Word!

I will come out to show off Seth shit. I found something that will make people flip SHIT! Like, literally, they will flip shit like pancakes from my discovery channel-esque status.

Oh tight. I’ll likely be there for that.

Is it cooler than this:

So how about a 5 dollar entry fee, 2 dollars going to Fae/BW? If we see how the turnout is, maybe we can try to have people bring more setups? I’ll make a post on Tournamentwars.com

That’s fine by me, just tell me when and I’ll be there. I haven’t played in FOREVER!

I made a seperate thread just to make sure that people see it and get some itnerest:

If I get 8 or more people interested, I’ll commit to being there and setting things up on Saturday.

edit: 5$ sounds reasonable Frank, though for the first week I think I’d like to just have it be a 1-2$ tourney or something or probably even free just to see how things run maybe.

are there any casuals after tw? i finish work at 9 and wanna go check this out but i wanna get some games in too.

Yo Frank, if you’re still interested in having me do so, I would still like to try out doing commentating. I think it would be fun and maybe a good addition to let me at least try it out.

Another thing- I think that you should try out allowing casuals to happen all night. I understand your intention of hyping up the matches with viewing spectators and had agreed with your idea until now. Simply put, the hype is not as big anymore because everyone is now used to this event every Saturday and we are now in the middle of our season. Allowing casuals off to the side I don’t think will cause a problem for the following reasons:

 • People already know which matches they really want to see ahead of time for the most part. When these matches are up, they will most likely be aware of this fact and will stop casuals in order to spectate.

 • Even IF people miss the matches that they desired to see due to alcohol and/or a casuals set up, everything is recorded. And Jeff has been doing us all a great honor of having the footage up by the middle of the week, so we can all catch up on what we missed.

 • Casuals is not going to be more hype than the actual tournament. Nobody is going to run from their chairs to go see what’s happening in the side area where casuals should be set up, away from the main event.

At this point, having casuals allowed all night will only be a great addition to the overall turnout and hype for this event as a whole, not a loss. Try it out, I think more people will come out every Saturday if they know that there are more options for entertainment available.

I like Tournament Wars for the fact that I can play more players from the Seattle scene since I moved up here. But so far, I’ve still only played players that I’ve also played at Gameworks aside from LTB and Cole. It would be nice to be able to play other players that don’t come out to the Arcade on more of a regular basis. We might even see all the players that don’t have matches come out if they know that they can still play.

Yes, though previously the TWs matches haven’t ended until after 1-2AM and hasn’t allowed all that much time for Casuals. We will have atleast a second setup available for casuals this time around I think, not sure if we’ll have it running during TWs or not.

I kind of agree with Tanaka on the casuals perspective, but it’s Frank’s event so I don’t want to promise anything against his wishes. And it might even help with noise levels a bit to have people more spread out.

I would just like to say that I found Elliot to be a solid/funny commentator. I wanna request Elliot to commentate all of our matches lol

I think I might go this route, especially if it’s going to bring in more ppl to watch, drink, eat hot dogs etc.

The big issue is getting people to commit to bringing extra setups (to start out 1 or 2) so that we can have the casuals. I mean we saw what happened last week when you posted, if we can’t get the setups there we’re kinda sitting ducks for casuals.

If you want to take a crack at commentating I don’t really have a problem with that, you have a lot of knowledge about the game so you could be a great technical commentator. December 5th might be your time to shine too because all my other commentators are playing that night at one time or another.

I’m really liking Jodo’s idea of running singles tournaments before the actuall tournamentwars event. This also allows those that couldn’t get in to Season 1 to come out and play competitvely against Seattle’s best. And as it was stated before, the numbers we need to be hitting are for Fae’s ENTIRE SHIFT, not from 10:30pm-2am. So again those that are concerned about not being sober before having to drive home, come in and drink early. Hungry? order from the restraunt (preferably from the bar, not in the restraunt, sorry Josh and Jacob, but I really want BW to back us so you guys might have to do some extra work  )

As long as casuals don’t take away from the hype of the event i’m perfectly fine by that. But I dont’ want to have people run over because someone is doing a 50 dollar money match while the main event is going on on the big screen.

on a side note, dollar money matches are kinda dumb. Especially if a $1 money match is going to take precedence over some casuals. I know that I said I hate em, but if there is a somewhat high stakes money match going on like 50 bucks or more, then I’d be interested in throwing that on the big screen cause 50 bucks is kind of a lot of money…

I’d like to come by to check this out, especially if there’s gonna be a singles tournament beforehand. But I don’t have a car and I’m not gonna be able to grab a bus home at like midnight or however late these go. Are there any carpools from up north (Lynnwood-ish) that I could get in on?

I think Jared offers a pay-his-broke-ass Taxi service occasionally, he is coming from the North for another month or so I think.

Probably can’t make this one. Uncle’s B-day party on the 14th!

Just make casuals ok but no money matches during tourney play. If someone wants to have a big money match then they have to come to you with it first.

The biggest thing really is that money matches don’t get special treatment or priority over other games.

I live in Everett, usually stay for the majority of it, moving to Lynnwood in 8 days. Let me know wassup.
