If you’re a Gameworks regular here in Seattle, WA. then you’ve seen me at least once a week there. I’m the white guy who plays Zangief. Sometimes I wear glasses, I work at a Sprint store…ring any bells?
Anyhow, my first tournaments are coming up this weekend (Saturday T.W. Singles + UW Sunday Tournament) and I’m absolutely thrilled. I have no where near prepared for Sunday, and after Saturday I plan to head straight to G.W. to get a few more things down.
I’m a Zangief player, I don’t expect to take first…ever! Jokes aside, I deal with Non-Sagats fairly well (Minus Future’s Boxer/Tanaka’s Ryu).
My post is actually more geared toward my announcement that I’m completely up and open for criticism as long as you’re constructive about it, and conducive to Zangief. I’d like to pick up a decent tournament-worthy character soon (Ryu), but in the mean time – I’m completely open to you letting me know what I could have done differently. If you scrape me, tell me what may have worked, and if the information is viable and you sound knowledgeable, I’d be willing to give you a few free games any night I’m down. I just feel like I’ve plateau’d a little bit, and I have a pretty fluid-aggressive Gief. My goal is to get Evo-Ready – YES WITH ZANGIEF!!!
To wrap up the nonsense thread:
GGs so far to my toughest challenges:
Chris (Ceramic) - Sagat
Sampson - Sagat
Jason (TheFuture) - Balrog
Tanaka (TanakaForce) - Ryu
You guys have the authority to completely shut me out if I’m playing like a clown.
Notable mentions:
Duncan (h.duke?) - Rufus
There may be a few names that are really great, but maybe dont play me enough to know how to get around my tricks! Or maybe I just forgot you =D.
I’ll probably be at TW’s so hopefully I’ll get to meet you. It would be nice to get to know some of the players from bellevue and maybe get some sessions going once Super comes out and everyone is hype to play again. Hopefully I’ll be decent by then.
Do not look back every time you lose a round and shake your head.
After losing a match, do not storm out of gameworks exclaiming " Let’s get out of here, I don’t need this X box live shit!"
Advice about Gief-
He’s one of the best characters in the game and is certainly a tournament worthy character.
Keep working on your Gief, but just have a back up for Sagat and Seth. Seth will be your hardest match up so I hope you don’t have to play Jared in tournament until you get some experience against a Seth.
I don’t look back every time I lose. Although if I remember correctly, I did lose to some pretty retarded stuff from your Bison, heh. Not that you’re a bad player, but Dictator has nothing on Gief and I know the match up really well now.
Humility aside, I’ve said some things. Most under-emphasized part of my post was probably iterating that I’m looking for constructive criticism. Dictator IS in fact Xbox Live bullshit I’m afraid =(. You’re a good player though!
If it’s built into the game, it’s not cheap. Learn to get used to BS and respect it. If your game plan is losing to “xbox live” BS then change it. Gief is definitely tournament viable, just check out Mark Santos’ matches against Stretch Armstrong tonight (whenever the videos get posted in the next few days) and you’ll see that not only does he win a mirror, but he wins the hardest matchup in the game as well as defeating one of the best Dhalsim’s out there.
lol Come on son! You really are mad that I utilize all of Bison’s strengths in that match up and you didn’t know how to deal with it!? How is that X box live?
There are no X box live characters in any game so I don’t know if you talked to Seth Killain or something but I’m sorry it doesn’t exist.
The match up is only slightly in Gief’s favor and you’ll realize this with one simple button that I used on you then and every dictator will use when you come at them with the same thing over and over.
Rage quitting at Gameworks because no one is around except me, my girlfriend and your friend is SUPER X BOX LIVE.
Yikes! So Elliott is being an E-thug! Next time you see me Elliot and riki, go ahead and say something so we can put some money down on some matches. Friendly matches of course.
Ok well when I think of Xbox live I can only imagine that it’s like PSN. Reversal uppercuts, fireball spam, a seemingly endless mob of kens, ryus, and akumas all looking for that jumping roundhouse to sweep combo.
All I was saying is that gouken is gonna spam some fireballs.
