I withdraw my request for Illumation to be placed on the list. He ran a good tourney today; everything was on time. You’ll have to ask Big Marcus and Scrimples about payout, though, since my humble 7th place finish didn’t warrant any of the pot.
Illumination more than made up for his absense last weekend by offering free entry to several people who showed up the event only to find a locked building. He was just a victim of circumstance and what happened was out of his hands for sure. Excellent tournament yesterday btw.
I’m gonna clue in anyone who posts on this thread about something I’ve been thinking ever since this man started posting in this thread.
If you are responding to being called out on some shady shit, then you need to realize that it’s because grown men who can read are concerned about financial matters (most likely). If you can’t organize a sentence or take the time to spell properly, what makes you think there won’t be people who read your replies that simply add you to their own mental list of organizers to avoid? The way I see it, this is a matter of business for most anyone who would be defending an accusation. As such, you should be making an attempt to look professional in the eyes of the community. After all, you came here to defend yourself to the community in the first place.
p.s. How is Mike “Jinmaster” Brandt not on this list? If anyone would like, I can go dig up results threads and testimonies from entire communities of players he’s screwed over in the past?
Since you already have references and sources, I’d go ahead and post them up. It’d make things simpler and easier for everyone, especially Bisonopolis.
I’m in the process of sending a PM to Bisonopolis right now. It’s taking a long time to compile ALL of what I will be submitting, and I’d rather not turn this thread into a debate on questionable matters. Just going to be including verifiable facts for my submission. I really think the only reason his name isn’t up here already is because nobody feels like taking the time to dig up all the info. necessary for it to happen, because he has still been responsible for legit events as well.
I have never actually witnessed Jinmaster “screwing” communities. I’ve been to many of his tournaments, and EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM was run extremely poorly… but I do not think running a tournament poorly is a reason to be added to the list. Unless he screwed communities over by stealing money, or anything major like that, then I don’t think he should be on this list.
SRK Community, Bisonopolis,
I know this whole GAMME thing is done and believe me that I am not the person to keep things going. I do not want to Derail this thread more-so. I am probably going to be a part of the GOO-CCT. I just have a few questions! This is probably not the thread to ask so I apologize in advance for adding petro to the fire!
However, I have a really bad taste in my mouth knowing that I had an entire trip planned for this tournament alone. Not only did I purchase Disney World tickets and Universal tickets and booked hotel etc…etc… but I also had some buddies of mine visiting from Miami to come watch a " real big tournament!" These buddies have nothing to do with Fighting games or anything, they just wanted to see what this hype is all about!
Now that we got that out of the way…Is anybody going to talk to this Manny guy? Like say maybe the Cannon brothers or Mr. Wizard or somebody? I just ask because it’s seems like Manny/GPX wants to get away with this somewhat on the down-low! If this guy is at MWC, then somebody needs to have a serious talk with him about how he…hmh…ROYALLY FUCKED OVER ALOT OF PEOPLE! I mean, not just money wise, (which is a huge deal on it’s own) but also scheduling. I mean, I could be at MWC right now if it weren’t for this. I could have booked shit for Devastation if it weren’t for this.
Is this guy really going to argue with a few key people and walk away like nothing happened???
As stated before, I do not want to start anymore arguing nor any salty situations, I just want for Manny/GPX to realize that what has happened here is nothing to walk away from so easily.
What do you expect anyone to do at this point besides make it known not to trust him? Beat him up? I mean, from the get go this guy was promising a bigger and better event than Evo with no experience running a major tournament to speak of…
Well Inkblot added him to this list and at this point I can’t disagree with that decision. I know that a lot of people had at the very least their tournament fee’s refunded through paypal but I’m not sure what can be done outside of that. It’s really terrible that you and many other people put so much into planning for GAMME. I myself even took time off from work because I was supposed to be going down to Florida to help run the SSF4 brackets and now I’ve lost that money completely. The only thing that I can think of people doing is maybe taking legal action. But even with that I have no idea if that route holds any validity at all. I know that Keits will be at MWC but from what I know Manny and Keits are friendly so I wouldn’t imagine anything serious getting accomplished. If I can think of any other ways that you can all get your money back believe that I’ll be the first person to let you know.
I don’t see the issue with charging people a base $5 for coming to a tourney regardless of venue renting on the Blanka guy one. $5 is nothing and it’s alot of work to run a tourney. So is everyone supposed to do everything for free? Weeks of planning, running brackets, providing equipment, etc. for nothing? For the community, so then what is the community doing for the people that are making all this happen?
LOL, how dare you charge me 5 bucks when I just won a pot of 200 for the event you put the time into making possible?
Are you talking about blanka707? I am more than happy to fill you in in detail with the shady things that he’s done (even something unrelated to tourneys), but to keep it short, money he allotted for going towards renting the room did NOT go to the room. On top of this, he got the room for free, then lied to us saying that he didn’t - after this came to light, he claimed he would get a receipt from the venue. After talking to the venue, it turned out Blanka was going to drop by AFTER THE FACT, donate the money HE WAS PLANNING TO POCKET to the venue, and then get a receipt, which he would show us.
Feel free to PM me if you want any more information, but I suggest you read the thread more carefully first.
And regarding “what is the community doing for the people organizing tournaments?” - as a tournament organizer myself, I find joy in people coming together and playing fighting games. Being able to facilitate that is joy enough for me. Meeting people, bodying cats / getting bodied, etc is a fun bonus.
I agree, it’s about bringing together the community and seeing people have fun but it still has to be professional in the sense that people need to be paid for their time and effort. It’s not like homeless people are coming to tourneys. So if say EVO makes an extra grand with all considered they should distritbute the remaining amount back to the attendees since all fees have been covered and the only reward should be the players’ gratitude. No one would run tourneys if that was expectation.
The Blanka707 should have just came clean and said this is work and the 5 goes towards that and those that helped end of story. It didn’t need to become an elaborate scheme. And often times people that just do it because it’s for the fun of all, don’t weigh all the variables in and run a sloppy tournament in the end. Maybe the Blanka707 guys is shady in general but IMO he shouldn’t have to lie, just tell it is and tell the players if they don’t like they can do it. Why else don’t more good to top players run tourneys? Because they don’t want hassle even though they would be generating their own revenue.
If we want this seen to be recognized a professional form of competition there should be no need for people to just volunteer. If someone helps me run a tourney I pay them. If it was a good tourney why would people be upset about giving $5 to the TO for their efforts?
Most tourneys charge a min. of 10 bucks to get in and I would be naive to think that all of that goes to the venue.
Ive got a bunch of messages to read through and edits to make to the list in the next few days. Dont worry if you sent me a message and i havent responded or made any edits to the list. My life just got a bit hectic but I’ll get to it.
